Hiruma had been sleeping for a few hours.
Around 2 a.m., he yawned,
'I also have this plaguey habit here, don't I? 'Can you tell me what time it is?'
'Two o'clock in the morning? Blast it, Blastoise; let's try to get back to sleep.'
Hiruma searched his room for the clock after waking up in the middle of the night. His bleary-eyed thoughts subconsciously drifted to the advanced parameters of his system functions, despite his inability to conduct a transaction with his system.
-First, there was turn-based combat.
The people Hiruma defeated in the turn-based combat instance would faint rather than die. He could kill them after a battle has ended and the instance has faded.
There were no limit to how many people and parties he could drag along with him as long as he could see or sense them. It was only a useful side parameter, but in that sense, the skill functioned like some looming teleportation and transfer; if Hiruma desired, all the pulled parties would appear in his range after the battle.
He could also freely switch participants' starting positions. This was another reason why killing him was difficult if he had enough reaction and perception.
-Hiruma's attention was also drawn to the Mob drop skill and the exchange store. The system had clarified that Hiruma's level 1 ability [Mob drop] would gain experience whenever he defeated opponents instead of killing them. The likelihood of drops and good drops increased as the skill level increased.
It dropped anything a person could think of; Hiruma's options for redundant items were endless. Once something was obtained, the likelihood of the same reward appearing on an individual would decrease, but it would never reach 0%.
Furthermore, when ability level was ignored, drop rates varied greatly from person to person.
But Hiruma had to get past their defense before he could even beat someone.
In the turn-based combat, there was a basic function that the parties, including him, could choose to activate, which set it apart from the Fire Emblem battle ordinances.
In contrast to Fire Emblem, there was no CRIT chance of an AI-controlled counter to an ongoing attack, but rather a self-loading defense that could be activated consciously and 100% of the time.
Simply put, a party left passive on a turn could expend stamina, Nen, or any other type of energy to activate one of their abilities to parry an incoming attack. Not all skills, such as adjunct and other supportive abilities, but offensive or defensive ones, the ability clearly needed to be able to attack or defend.
The defensive sequence was considered successful even if it spent vigor if the output of the parrying move was superior to the attacking party's move; however, there was no counter damage left on the attacker naturally.
In the battle instance, it wasn't all about dodging; this was the other complicated mechanic, even if it didn't cause counter damage to an attacker.
This was a useful function, but only when one needed more agility; in Hiruma's case, the opponent would almost certainly influence his decision.
-The last thing Hiruma remembered was the somewhat engrossing exchange store; it was no ordinary store; it was actually a bit anomalous in its structuring and managing scheme; Hiruma wouldn't make transactions with the system based on the equal nature of exchange; the system would conduct business on his behalf based on requiring needs. It was based on bids, and Hiruma could request specifics.
Other functions and summoning utilities would be available in the store in the future, but where were those transactions taking place?
This part was interesting because it was about his current and future franchises. The system was quiet but powerful and had its own special interests.
Hiruma didn't mind, so long as it helped him later. Actually, in more ways than one...

Far-off in the multiverse,

[Yes/No?]
In a certain medieval world, where riches, fame, and strength were frequently the result of a profession known as Adventurers,
A statuesque young woman with a Greek goddess-sharp gaze, glossy silken skin, and an elven queen's face and body contours looked at the window before her deliciously full bosom. She was in a muddy lodging in a beautifully green but cold wilderness.
"What's this?"
Jade pondered, perplexed. She was on her way to Papnica and waking up to her longest and most prosperous escape yet.
Jade was about 165 cm tall, with purple eyes and long, blackish-purple hair tied in a ponytail that dropped below her back and down to her legs and a fringe parted to the right side of her face.
She wore a jade green halter top with a metal ring attached to a choker over a midriff-baring black tank top and a jade green leather skirt over a pair of black shorts.
She wore jade green bracers around her wrists and black fingerless gloves on her hands. She also wore jade green high-heeled laced boots just below her knee.
She was the sassy princess of a mighty military kingdom. Although she had cut ties and fled for reasons, she was still being pursued by her father's knights until yesterday.
