25.75% [BL] Strongest in the Apocalypse / Chapter 17: Accusation and Confrontation 2

Kapitel 17: Accusation and Confrontation 2

Jiang Zhi was seen observing Shen Yize, who seemed lost in thought as Zhang Rui and the stranger quarreled.

"So, what's on your mind, Shen Yize?" Jiang Zhi's sudden question interrupted Shen Yize's reverie.

"I think this guy is hiding something. Maybe there's a connection with their group. Oh, and what's your opinion on Mu Yang?"

"He seems like a good person, but I have a feeling he's also keeping secrets. Let's not rush to conclusions; we hardly know him."

"Good point." Shen Yize agreed.

"We should keep an eye on him before deciding whether to let him join our group or not. The more people, the stronger we become."

"But that'll be tough for you. You'll have to manage and watch over them."

"Why me? We'll do it together."

"Hey, what's the secret gossip? Did you two break up?"

Zhang Rui's sudden interruption startled Shen Yize and Jiang Zhi, causing them to look at him with complex expressions. Zhang Rui, flustered by their gazes, could only raise his hand in a sign of "I give up" or "I'm sorry," only Zhang Rui himself knew.

"That's none of our business, right? Let's just focus on getting this person to the car first. We don't want to get caught in a zombie attack, remember?" Shen Yize decided.

However, it seemed Zhang Rui was still uncertain about it. "So, are we really bringing this stranger with us? Are you sure we can trust him?"

"Yes, we need information from him." Jiang Zhi helped Shen Yize convince Zhang Rui.

"Alright, I understand."

"Wait a minute, guys. Are we really taking him with us? What if he's dangerous?" Mu Yang suddenly chimed in.

Shen Yize looked at Mu Yang, "What's the matter, Mu Yang? Do you have something against him?"

"You're just seeking revenge! You want to send me to the zombies, but you're still alive! Cowards!" The stranger yelled again and tried to struggle.

"Can you just be quiet? You're too loud." Zhang Rui approached and stepped on the stranger's foot.

"Ouch! You stepped on my foot!"

"Sorry, bro. It was accidental and hardly touched you. You're making a fuss over something trivial."

"Hey, you can't seek revenge on someone defenseless!" The stranger now resigned.

"No, no. I have no grudge or other problems, but..." Mu Yang stopped speaking.

Mu Yang looked hesitant as he looked at everyone, slightly lowering his head.

"Spit it out quickly; we won't eat you," Jiang Zhi reassured.

"This guy's life points are decreasing. I think he's infected with the zombie virus or something."

"Life points?"

"Yes. I have this strange power to see someone's life points. It's not that useful, but it seems to be based on their stamina or something."

Mu Yang's recent statement made Jiang Zhi and Shen Yize exchange looks once again. As if both of them found it hard to believe what they were hearing.

"But it's true, that's why I could avoid the zombies in the mall, because I could see their life points like in a video game." Mu Yang reassured again.

"Can we trust you?"

"Of course. I can even see your life points, but you're a bit different. Your life points look hazy, but they're actually full," Mu Yang explained again.

"Is that real?" Jiang Zhi continued to probe the truth behind what he heard.

"Yes, really. I wouldn't lie about something like this."

Suddenly, Zhang Rui's voice cut through the conversation.

"Hey, look at that guy's leg! It's turning black!"

"Oh no, we have to kill him before he turns into a zombie," Shen Yize said, starting to worry.

"Wait, what do you mean by killing me? You wouldn't do that, right? You can't just kill someone recklessly; it's illegal and not cool at all!" The stranger now looked frightened.

"Uh, do we really have to kill him?" Jiang Zhi asked Shen Yize again.

"Yes, we don't have a choice. It's the end of the world, and human lives aren't as valuable anymore. You just need to be useful and survive."

"That can't be, you can't kill me! I have important information!" The stranger tried to bargain.

"How important is the information?" Shen Yize inquired.

"Very important! It's about Base C001."

"Base C001? What is that?"

"Yes, that's right, that's right! I'll reveal everything if you let me live and take me with you!"

"Sorry, but that base isn't anything special. Let's kill him or... leave him here."

"You have to take me with you! It's really important!"

As they one by one got into the car, the immobilized person was left behind as his injuries began to numb and turn black. It was a tough decision when it came to the heart. But, as Shen Yize had mentioned earlier, decisions had to be made decisively.

Inside the car, Zhang Rui, who didn't know anything about Base C001, asked Shen Yize, "Hey, what's Base C001?"

"Oh, it's the first military base built at the end of the world in this city. Now there are many bases of various sizes, and they're in conflict with each other."

"But shouldn't the military of a country be united? Why are they fighting each other?"

"Because it's the end of the world, bro. We're not just trying to protect our own country anymore—we're fighting for our own survival. We're not facing external enemies anymore; we're dealing with zombies. And as time goes on, those zombies are getting stronger."

"Wow, you know a lot about this! By the way, can you help me find my sister?" Mu Yang requested, impressed by Shen Yize's insights.

"Where's your sister? Do you have any leads?"

"Not really, but I know she's still out there. I don't want her to stay with those other people."

"Please, bro. I'll do anything—sacrifice my life and my sister's life—whatever it takes. Please, can you help me?"

They all fell silent, lost in their thoughts, as saving someone in the end times wasn't easy.

Until Jiang Zhi spoke up. "We'll give it a shot, because we still need to find a prosthetic hand for Zhang Rui."

Jiang Zhi's statement became the final sentence for a while. They lapsed into silence and the noise inside their heads. There were many odd things. Many things still had severed threads. They couldn't be conveyed in words. Each of them was still trying to puzzle things out in their own minds, especially Jiang Zhi and Shen Yize. They couldn't be as carefree as Zhang Rui when it came to making decisions.
