Kapitel 50: Interruption
SLASH
Before the boss could finish off Lukas, Wyatt appeared behind it while slicing both his chakrams toward the opening near the back of his neck. Due to the electric currents coating his blades, he managed to stun the chimera long enough for Lukas to roll out of the way.
GAHHH
"Tch... Twite, what the hell do you want now!" Lukas, who was still gasping for air, began roaring at Wyatt in anger. After coming all this way for revenge, he already lost his entire team due to Wyatt's ploy. Now after being saved from death by Wyatt, Lukas was close to losing his mind in anger.
"Ah, nothing much! You just looked like you could use some help" Wyatt responded with a light chuckle before preparing to attack once again.
"Screw you! I'd rather lose my level than have to work together with you" Lukas stated, while still glaring at Wyatt.
Hearing his reply, Wyatt rolled his eyes before saying "That's fine as well, I can just beat you before finishing the boss after". Wyatt was hoping to work together with Lukas because he wasn't completely confident in defeating Ergus by himself.
However, if Lukas was adamant about not working together Wyatt knew his best choice would be to get rid of him first.
"HAA, please, I doubt you stand any chance against it alone" Declaring loudly, Lukas began to snicker. Although Lukas knew Wyatt was strong, after fighting the boss in its strengthened form, he didn't believe Wyatt stood any chance.
Knowing his plan to use Lukas to finish the boss was about to fall apart, Wyatt tried one more time "Although I can't guarantee I'll win, I'm sure you saw the chimeras that were melted before reaching this place"
Lukas opened his mouth to rebuke, but before he could Wyatt continued "Also with your current mana do you think you can defeat me? I just figured that you would want a couple of rewards from the boss since your friends helped me out so much"
Gritting his teeth, Lukas had no choice but to admit Wyatt was correct. With his current amount of mana, he could probably only last a few minutes in combat before completely running out.
"Tch, fine! What's the plan"
Wyatt chuckled before responding "No need for a plan. He might be faster than us right now, but he won't be able to stop both of us from charging at his weak points".
Without wasting any more time both of them launched forward to attack.
"Wind Hop!"
"Scorching Frame!"
GROWLLLL
Ergus roared out in contempt before swinging at the approaching enemies. Lukas arrived in front of the sharp claws quickly countering them with his swordsmanship.
At the same time, Wyatt quickly appeared behind the boss before launching an attack at the back of his neck. While the creature was focused on Lukas in the front, he managed to successfully avoid the large tail with his wind element and high agility.
SHWING
Wyatt covered his blades in hysteria before slicing as deep as possible into the chimera's neck. Knowing any damage from the boss could be fatal, he immediately retreated after landing his attack.
GAAHHH
Lukas took the chimera's pained state to quickly land a few jabs directly in its exposed stomach. After backing away Wyatt threw his chakrams at Ergus in order to cover for Lukas while his hysteria started to settle in.
Although he couldn't block the creature's claw or tail attacks with his flying chakrams and wind mana, he was fully capable of at least altering the attack trajectory enough to create openings for Lukas to land attacks.
Just like this, another minute passed with Wyatt creating many successful openings for Lukas. This of course enraged the boss even more, which resulted in him turning his attention to Wyatt who was standing a few feet away.
Suddenly instead of trying to attack Lukas again, Ergus completely left himself open by turning his body to charge at Wyatt. During this chance, Lukas Successfully landed a powerful hit on the back of the chimera's neck, nevertheless, it did nothing to stop the boss's movements.
Wyatt attempted to pull his chakrams back in time to defend against the upcoming attack. Sadly, his attempt was futile as the blunt tail crashed into the side of his body.
CRASH
"COUGH... COUGH COUGH"
Grunting in pain, Wyatt tightly gripped his stomach while leaning forward. Besides the intense pain, he felt like the whole world was spinning around him. Holding himself in an attempt to stop himself from puking, Wyatt dizzily stumbled away from the wall he collided with.
Luckily due to the effects of hysteria, the tail didn't manage to land a perfect hit, thus saving Wyatt a lot of health.
Suddenly he heard Lukas loudly snickering in front of him " HAHAHA, looks like you don't have much of an advantage over me anymore"
Much to Lukas's disappointment, Wyatt didn't respond to his statement, instead, he only looked at him with a faint smile. Lukas was both angered and confused by his sudden smile but before he could say anything, a faint glow surrounded Wyatt's body.
"You sure enjoy flying into walls huh? I hope you don't mind me interrupting"
Bel's loud familiar chuckle echoed through the room, as Wyatt turned to him with a smile
"You're just on time actually" Wyatt confidently replied
After melting a hole in the boss door earlier, Bel exited first before finding somewhere to hide. Since Wyatt had used his full speed in addition to any buffs placed on him to reach Lukas's team as swiftly as possible, Bel could only follow them from far behind due to his lacking agility.
After sprinting through the long tunnels, he only managed to arrive at the scene a minute prior to Wyatt being launched.
Seeing the sudden arrival, Lukas could only grit his teeth in frustration.
With his health recovering once again, Wyatt charged forward to finish off the boss for good. With the addition of Bel's agility buff, him and Lukas successfully chipped away at the boss until it was near death.
Rolling under one of the creature's claws, Wyatt took a step back while Lukas successfully pierced into its stomach.
VOOOSH
Both Wyatt and Lukas Instantly started to glow with the leveling-up animation. Bellamy had also received a large chunk of experience, but because he was missing for such a large portion of the battle it was not enough to level him up again.
Crouching over, Lukas gasped for air before looking at the ceiling in exhilaration. closing his eyes, Lukas opened his mouth in an attempt to shout out due to his pure adrenaline however no cheer managed to escape him.
COUGHHHH
Suddenly Lukas erupted in pain before barely managing to turn around in horror. Standing directly behind him, Wyatt was grabbing his back with a gross goop substance covering his hand. Collapsing onto the floor, Lukas could only shiver in agony before coming to the realization that this was the same ability that melted the earlier chimeras.
Wyatt had never used the skill on another person, but judging by Lukas's contorting body he couldn't imagine it being very fun. Still, he wasn't one to enjoy others suffering so Wyatt looked him directly in the eyes and stated
"I appreciate all the help today! but next time you want to fight me you can just challenge me to a rematch"
SLICE
Before Lukas could even change his shocked expression, Wyatt sent him packing.
"Ouch, remind me not to stalk you! wouldn't wanna end up melting" Bel muttered while shivering from the image of Lukas on the ground. Although he already witnessed it during the earlier chimera fights, seeing another player being affected by the acid was even more stomach-wrenching.
"ready to check our reward?" Wyatt inquired while walking over to the boss's corpse.
Bel smiled in excitement before opening his mouth to reply
DING DING DING DING
DING DING
But before he had the chance, his interface blew up with messages. Looking at the sudden wave of messages, Bellamy's eyes widened in horror, confusing Wyatt.
"Crap..." muttered Bel
"What's the matter?" Wyatt inquired, still confused by the sudden change
"I'm late for my family's training..."
Instantly, Wyatt realized that all the messages must've been from Melody yelling at him.
"Sigh, I'm for sure gonna get yelled at now! sorry man, I gotta go now before Mel loses her mind"
"No problem, thanks again for the help. I'll keep your share of the loot until we meet up next" Wyatt replied before giving his friend a high five. Bel also reminded him that he would probably be busy for at least a full day due to his family stuff so as not to wait on him.
Now with everything finished, Wyatt finally had an opportunity to look through the boss's loot.
CLAP CLAP CLAP
But before he even had the chance a hooded figure appeared behind him clapping his hands with a creepy smile on his face.
Opening his mouth a deep and twisted voice echoed through the room" hahaha, I've gotta admit, Im thoroughly impressed that you killed Ergus". The deep voice started cackling out in laughter while approaching him.
It wasn't until the hooded figure got close to him that Wyatt managed to see a strangely familiar face.
It only took him a few seconds to pinpoint where he had seen the face, before mumbling out loud
"...Rykan?"
