Kapitel 29: Trials of Defense and Endurance

[Myroc Tower: Trial of Defense]

[Welcome to the Myroc Tower trial of agility! The trial of defense is designed to help limit test the challenger's ability to withstand the pressure with nothing but their body. Against the wall of this room, you will find an entrance to a small room with many runic inscriptions written along its floor. These are gravity manipulation runes and they have the ability to increase the gravity in the room. Entering the room challengers will be met with 5x gravity and every 5 minutes the gravity in the room will double. With a total of 5 gravity levels if the challenger falls onto the floor and fails to stand back up within 30 seconds the test will be considered over]

Standing up with the refreshing feeling Wyatt found the entrance to the gravity room and walked over.

VOOOSH

Wyatts body hunched forward as he felt the pressure of 5x gravity pushing down on him. He could feel all his bones grinding against each other but after adding a little bit of wind mana to his body he managed to adjust himself and stand straight once again.

After a minute of adaptation, he managed to pass the first level of gravity with slight difficulty.

"phew, that wasn't too bad" Wyatt mumbled to himself stretching his body out after the first level ended.

His whole body felt as if he was under a squatting rack for over an hour. Loosening up his muscles with some quick exercises he was ready for level 2

[Trial of Defense] [Level 2]

Wyatt was more prepared this time and preemptively covered his body with wind mana. Still, even with the extra protection he had to take a knee while waiting for his breathing to settle.

10 seconds later Wyatt wobbled back to his feet and finished the 2nd level

[Trial of Defense] [Level 3]

"COUGH..."

It seemed Wyatt didn't fully comprehend 20x gravity as he instantly collapsed onto the floor

"huuuu...huuu...." Wyatt could swear he felt his lungs collapsing inward as he struggled to catch a breath.

If it wasn't for his quick reflexes covering his body with wind mana he probably would've passed out on the spot.

Wyatt could feel his consciousness wavering with every second. Realizing that he needed to force his body to wake up Wyatt started channeling his lightning mana hoping that the shock would stimulate his muscles enough for him to stand up on time.

[20 seconds]

[16 seconds]

Still, he made no progress

[11 seconds]

Making some progress Wyatt could finally feel a light buzzing in his limbs. Now that he could feel again he started pumping even more mana into his body trying to force himself up.

[7 seconds]

[2..]

"AGGGHHH" gritting his teeth Wyatt somehow managed to push himself into a standing position. After barely picking himself up before the 30 seconds Wyatt couldn't even move only managing to stand frozen in place from the pressure.

Somehow his body managed to hold out until the end of the 5 minutes

When the gravity released Wyatt couldn't move or celebrate Instead his body remained in the same spot wobbling back in forth.

Wyatt had completely hit his limit, he could already feel his consciousness escaping him, and with the next test being 40x gravity he knew he had zero chance of succeeding.

Using his last bit of energy he swiped the floating screen next to him ending the trial.

Back in the office far above Quinn was watching Wyatt with a smile.

Standing next to Quinn a young mage watched his excitement in confusion before finally asking "Master Quinn I don't understand why you are so focused on a single testee! He only received a defensive score of 3 we see hundreds of warriors with such talents every year"

"Hahaha you aren't completely wrong a defensive score of 3 isn't anything noteworthy!" Quinn laughed

The younger mage only nodded his head in agreement

"But there is one problem with what you said! This boy we're watching isn't a warrior"

Hearing the tower masters words, the boys eyes widened as he immediately reached out for a document on the side of Quinns' desk so he could see Wyatts previous scores.

[Trial of agility] [5]

[Trial of mana] [5]

[Trial of strength] [3.5]

[Trial of defense] [3]

"holy %^..." the boy mumbled out loud.

As a talented mage trainee, even he couldn't help but feel jealous when his eyes lingered over the perfect mana score. Turning back to the tower master with wide eyes he asked "d...do you think he can break through to 4.5 stars?"

"Sigh...I don't know, he would need a perfect score on the final trial to succeed" Answered the boy narrowing his eyes back on Wyatts display. "But for some reason, I feel like he might do it"

The young mage had taken the trials a couple of years ago and personally knew how difficult the final test of endurance was. Unlike the previous trials that checked the challengers body and talent the trial of endurance only evaluated the players mental strength.

It should be known that the whole tower as well as the town of Myroc were still in an uproar over Hazel's 4.5 stars. So when thinking that there might be another person to reach that legendary status not only on the same day but with a perfect mana score the young mage could feel his blood bubbling in excitement.

Back to Wyatt

[Myroc Tower: Trial of Endurance]

[Welcome to the Desert of Dreams!]

Heat washed over him as Wyatt glanced into the sky at the burning sun illuminating the endless desert in front of him.

"phew, so bright...." he muttered

Wiping his sweat he checked if the notification gave him any more information. After making sure it didn't Wyatt wiped the sweat already forming on his face and took his first step into the endless sand hell before him.
