Adel’s POV.
“May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields, and, until we meet again, may the goddess hold you warm in the palm of her hand,” a woman in her late fifties said over the pyre in the clearing.
I stood huddled next to Nix, watching as members of the Clan stopped one by one by the carefully wrapped body of Maddox. Each clan member offered a blessing, before depositing a carefully collected bundle of flowers, or herbs. Each represents a variety of different things. After they said their final goodbyes to the first son of the previous Alpha and Luna of their Clan, each member would offer their condolences to Maddox’s family.
“May the goddess see you in this time of sorrow, smile down upon your union, and bless you with life in multiplication,” the older woman said with a sad smile as she got to me.
“Thank you,” I responded, offering her a sad smile.
