Miguel’s POV.
“I need you to let me speak to the woman alone,” I said addressing the Beta men standing shoulder to shoulder in front of the hotel room containing the woman who held the information I sought.
“They’re not in the right frame of mind to do this… sir,” Bane said biting out the word ‘sir’ as if it took great effort.
“Look, if there was any other way, I would do it. But this is it. This is the only card I have left to play, and you both know it.”
The two Beta guards leveled me with a stare that communicated that if I so much as harmed a hair on either woman's head, or even as much as disturbed their peace I would be paying before they moved to the side, giving me access to the scuffed door in front of me. I hesitated for a moment, tapping a light knock purely out of courtesy before turning the handle over and walking into the small dingy hotel room.
