Adel’s POV.
“What the f*ck is she doing here, Phoenix! I told you to not bring her here! Do you want to kill your mother as well!”
I had only met James Byrne a handful of times, and every single time I had met him, he had been kind to me. He had never raised his voice or even looked at me without a smile on his face. But this James Byrne was different. His salt and pepper hair was messy, his collar was unbuttoned at the top, and his shirt was stained in areas with a variety of muted amber color stains. His blue eyes, the same color as Maddox’s, were wild with furry as he looked from me to Phoenix, who stood firmly at my side.
“It’s not right to keep her from him, and you know it, Dad.” Phoenix had never sounded stronger than he did when he asserted himself, the sound was surprising.
“Take her back to the bed and breakfast, Phoenix,” James commanded though it sounded surprisingly weak coming from the Alpha.
“I’m not going to do that—”
