Kapitel 77: chapter 77

A night had passed since the party and we were all reunited inside of Laura's pub, with an addition: Ann Evans.
"Well, I feel kind of in danger being here alone, surrounded by all of you" she said while looking at us, but there was no fear on her face.
"You said you were here to answer our questions" said Derek not wanting to waste time.
"Well, I was looking for an equal exchange in reality. A question for a question." She spoke.
"Does it look like we are on equal ground?" asked Laura, pointing at the difference in numbers.
"Well, you certainly are many, but I also know that in about an hour a group of Oni will come here, as all the remaining supernatural beings to be checked are gathered in this pub and you can't deal with them." She said.
Yesterday while some of us were at the party, Derek and Boyd were attacked by the same beings, who attacked Allison's mother previously.
"Ok let's play your game. You said there was another Nogitsune, who happens to be your father. What is his aim?" asked Derek.
"Surviving and creating chaos, the usual void kitsune thing, but he isn't someone who holds back" replied Ann.
"Aren't you also one?" he asked again.
"It's my turn now. Ask again later. Let's see what could interest me about you" she looked around and muttered to herself.
"Most of you seems boring. Let's start with my future brother in law" she exclaimed and Scott pointed at himself with a blush.
"When I first met you, you and your friend had an opening inside your mind, did it have anything to do with the Nemeton?" she asked.
"Yeah we did a fake sacrifice to find the location of the Nemton and save our parents, there was also Allison's mother with us, who wanted to save her husband" explained Scott.
"The one who has already been marked by the Oni, right?"
"You already made your question" said Isaac in a pretentious way.
"It was rhetorical, I don't have such a bad memory. So what do you want to know next? No lies, no holding back, even if you ask about my underwear or my body count" she joked, but it didn't lighten the atmosphere a lot.
"Why are we being assaulted by the Oni?" asked Laura.
"One person has been possessed by the Nogitsune, they won't do anything to you as long you are yourself. After being checked if there are no problem, they will just leave a symbol similar to a five on your neck, which is a kanji that means self. If you don't oppose any resistance it will be quick and void of any pain, like a sting. Now it's my turn you feel better now, right?" She asked again to Scott.
"Why are you wasting your questions like this?" asked Laura.
"I'm not a serious person. Moreover, I'm worried about my future brother in law" she said with an innocent expression.
"I'm good, but Stiles has some difficulties with sleeping" replied Scott, but why does he always has the need to say more than he is asked?
Maybe he already trusts her, since he is going out with her sister.
"What will happen, if they find the Nogitsune?" asked Laura.
"They will kill him on the spot" replied Ann not bothering to hide.
"Either way he either dies or the host will slowly lose control of his body, which is worse. One of the tactics preferred by a void kitsune is to hide among friends, so that people will be opposed to the idea of killing him and while this goes on he will create chaos and gains power" added Ann, but knowing this won't change anything.
I would never let one of my pride members to be killed and the same goes for the others if their friends or lovers were to be possessed.
"Now I'm curious, why is that guy looking at you with an angry look since the beginning" she asked to me, while pointing at Derek, who had indeed been throwing me angry looks from the start.
"Well… I might have added to my pride two of his sisters and his cousins" I replied briefly wanting to proceed with the interrogation and at same time understand how badly Derek has taken me marking Cora.
"Wow. If I were in you I would hide any other female in your family" she told to Derek.
"He already took them all" replied Derek with a growl.
"Oh. Congratulation you completed the whole set." She told me, while giving me a thumbs-up, which just increased Derek's anger.
"Don't let yourself be provoked" said Laura while putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Seriously? He fucked our little sister, and you just accept it like that. Is he that good in bed?" he asked while pushing away her hands.
"She is big enough to make her choices" stated Laura.
"You seriously agree with this?" asked an enraged Derek.
"Should I remind you that I'm right here? and I can do what I want" said Cora, but this didn't convince Derek.
It seems that if he feels more responsible for his younger sister, rather than his older one.
CRACK
This sound suddenly interrupted the conversation and when we turned toward it, we saw Ann, who was eating some chips.
"You don't mind if I take some snacks right?" she was the one who started the whole dispute, but she interrupted it before it could escalate.
Is this the difference between her and her father? She controls her actions and stop thing from degenerating.
"Why do you hate your father?" I asked suddenly making her pause her actions.
"Well, technically it isn't an easy thing to explain, but you are lucky you didn't ask my mother, because she likes to complicate the story and transform it into a novel full of romance with a tragic end.
In a few words my mother was in the USA during the second great world and the American didn't take the attack against Pearl Arbor well.So, she, together with many japanese immigrants, was imprisoned into the Oak Tree detainment camp. She could have run away if she wanted to do, but she chose to stay there helping the others. She had found a lover there, a corporal who worked at the camp.
The situation soon aggravated when the internees started to get ill and when a case of corruption, where the medicines were sold away rather than being used on the patients, got exposed, a riot started and many of the Japanese and the corporal got killed.
My mother too got wounded badly and she was thrown with the other corpses in an open field. She wanted revenge, but they were all about to be burned, so she asked her ancestor for strength, specifically she asked for a void kitsune to posses her, but controlling a 900 hundreds years old kitsune like my mother isn't easy, so the Nogitsune soon opted to posses another body, and to mock my mother further he chose the body of her lover.
The Nogitsune achieved the promised revenge, but he didn't stop and started to kill everyone, including the Japanese. My mother was then able to stop him and imprison it in a jar, that she buried between the root of Nemeton, which was still an imposing and magically strong tree at that time. As for me it is unknown if I was a child that my mother conceived with the corporal or if I was born as a consequence of the first attempt the void kitsune made to posses my mother. What is certain is that I was influenced by his presence.
Either way I consider myself to be the daughter of my mother lover, Rhys Evans and that's why I took his surname and decided to stop the Nogitsune" said Ann and when her explanation ended, she took a bottle of vodka from under the counter and started to drink it.
"You are going to pay for that?" said Laura, although she looked at Ann with less hostility and more understanding.
"Cheap!" commented Ann, finishing the bottle.
"Wait doesn't this mean that you are sixty years old" interrupted Isaac.
"Kitsune start aging only during their last century of life. So, I'm trapped in this young and sexy body of mine for the next seven hundred years" she said, faking a sad smile.
