Nala didn't know what to say at this point, she only stared at Lou in disbelieve. He was going to be with Iris, even though it was very clear that he would be an afterthought.

"You know that the queen will never see you in the same way you saw her, right?"

"I am not that dumb, Nala. I figured that out long time ago." Lou stretched his body. He still looked the same. Magic users tended to age very slow.

"Then why?" Nala felt like crying, but she held herself back. She had bottled up this emotion for so long. She was no longer her younger self, who would cry in the drop of a hat and become very impulsive. "You can have a family here, with me, with our child. We can build a life together."

"That's the problem Nala." Lou looked at her, grinning and for a moment, Nala wanted to sucker punch his face. "I don't want a family. I had one and that's so bad."

"We can make it better."
