"Alred, how long will we be here, and where are we going?" A young elven girl who appears to be around 16 said this to her older brother who appears to be around 18.
"I do not know Artin, but for now we can only rely and trust this metal creature to take us somewhere safe." He trusts the beast because it somehow gives them food, clothes, and comfortable blankets when it becomes night. This surprises him as most beasts aren't this intelligent and this metal beast somehow uses spatial magic.
But there was a problem, he didn't detect a trace of spatial magic, and 1 of the things that elves are very good at, was detecting and using magic. Whenever the beast uses the tendrils to give them food or other items, he can detect mana from the tendrils. But whenever something appears, he feels nothing, not even a slight fluctuation. This was weird especially since he and his sister are geniuses in using and detecting mana, especially his sister as she has the potential to become a S-rank mage.
During the travels, he made several mental notes about this beast because the information may become useful in the future, and he always wanted to discover new types of beasts. Though he wished he had some kind of journal to draw and make notes of the metal beast.
The journey during the day was mostly fine except when it became nighttime, several of the older children had a sick feeling in their stomachs when it was becoming dark, and they couldn't figure out why. Until there was no sunlight shining on the trees, all of the trees started to move, and all of the older children knew these were undead Treants.
Mindless monsters that will attack anything, no matter how strong the enemy is and they will never give up until they are destroyed, sunlight shines on them, or they kill their target and absorb their mana, growing stronger with each kill.
It was all but trouble after that once the sun went down. The metal beast that was casually walking soon noticed the undead treants heading towards it and started to run, seeing waves and waves of undead treants converging towards it. A terrifying sight to see, especially for little children, and many of them start to cry after seeing the sight of hundreds and hundreds of monsters.
The metal beast was able to outpace the undead treants, but with still many undead treants in its path, some were able to latch onto a leg and slowly climb up. Some of the undead treants that were close to the legs launched some sort of black sticky substance from their mouth, successfully landing on the metal beast's legs.
The black goo did nothing other than stick onto its leg, but Alred knew that this black goo was dangerous if touched by anyone below D-rank. "Make sure to not touch the black goo at all, touching it can kill you in minutes unless you coat your body with mana." Alred was thankful that he read the description for undead treants at the academy.
He wonders why the academy hasn't even tried to rescue them or found them yet. This was really suspicious since all student robes have magic runes on their clothes that allow the academy to know their general location, and this was a secret that hardly anyone knew unless they worked with high-ranking runes. And that they won't definitely leave someone with amazing potential to become an S rank mage to be in the enemy's hand, out of everyone that's here in the cage, his sister Artin will have the highest priority to get rescue.
He secretly checked the runes that were on each of his classmate's clothes and saw that the runes had cracks all around them. The thing with runes is that a single mistake in a rune can cause the entire rune to not work or even have a different effect than the user wanted. Since the ruins have cracks, it pretty much disables them, unless someone with knowledge of runes repairs them, they are useless.
Alred and the other children who are capable of moving their mana have been throwing out magic spells, trying to push back the undead treants that were climbing the legs of the metal beast.
[ARRRh FUCK FUCK FUCK] Alex was cursing in his head as he tried his best to escape the undead treants but some are grabbing onto his leg, slowing him down, and making him unbalanced due to the added weight.
Alex had to quickly move the children to the top of his head as they were starting to get overrun by the undead treants. Alex ended up letting go of the cage as he used it to bash the undead treants, causing the cage to be destroyed.
Alex then tried to pierce the undead treants with his mana tendrils but there was not enough force behind it. The best he could do was to shove them away. He started to panic a bit and tried to think of ideas.
And that's when he remembered that he had [Emblem Mark]. He can only trust it if can do something useful. But there was one problem, who should he place it on? Even though he can place it on anyone, he does not know what other effects it can have.
Alex had to quickly decide on who to pick, and from what he had seen earlier from the children. He decided to pick an elven boy. Alex quickly made another tendril and placed a mark on the back of the child's right hand.
The child, of course, panicked as an unknown creature had placed something on the back of his right hand and no matter how much he scratched it, it did not come off. The mark began to form a symbol and then disappeared once it finished forming.
There are currently 2 things Alex knows about what the [Emblem Mark] can do. 1 is that the people he marks can somehow go into his domain and 2 is that he can talk with them with no currently known limit.
Just as he was about to talk to the boy he marked, a notification went off.

<DING> Tall-Neck and Host are now level 2
Host reward for becoming level 2:
+ 1 Common Summon Token
+ 1 Common Ability/Passive Token
+ 1 Common Item Token
+ 100 SP
)
Alex immediately uses the summon and Ability/Passive token and hopes for something useful.
(<DING>
Common Summon Token Used. lv 1 - Ankylosaurus (Jurassic World the Game)
Common Ability/Passive Token Used. lv 1 - Wind Cutter (Ability)
)
Alex was a bit disappointed by the summon he got as he hoped for a summon that had more destructive power against swarms of creatures but at least he had gotten a magical skill, even if it's a common skill.
Alex immediately started using [Wind Cutter] on the undead treants. The [Wind Cutter] ability was able to cleanly cut the undead treants in half, like a hot knife cutting through butter. The magic ability came out of Alex's mana tendrils, but it took Alex around 12 seconds to form a single [Wind Cutter] and he was only able to charge up 2 [Wind Cutter] at the same time.
Even with the 12-second charge-up time, he was able to quickly decrease the number of undead treants on him, as [Wind Cutter] was able to slice 2 undead treants before losing its power and disappearing. And with the Tall-Neck leveling up, he felt a boost in his strength. Alex immediately noticed a difference in his speed, he also felt the load that was weighing him down decrease.
With this small boost in his strength, his speed also increased. But it did not do much as no matter what direction he takes, there will be undead treants. He can only hope to finally reach an area with no undead treants.
Now that he has a way to kill the undead treants, he had an easier time moving forward but whenever there was a massive cluster of undead treants heading his way. He had to switch directions as it was too much for him to handle when he had young passengers on his head.
*WOOOOOOOOSHHHHH*
But a huge surprise suddenly appeared. As Alex was about to switch his direction for the 10th time, a massive tornado appeared out of nowhere. Alex tried to immediately stop but he slid on the ground for a bit as his speed was around 50 mph. Some of the children on top almost fell off of his head due to his sudden stop, but he quickly caught the children. Closed his eyes and braced himself for the pull of the massive tornado.
But he felt nothing, no pull, or anything. He opened his eyes and saw the massive tornado suck in everything but him, even the kids were not affected by the tornado.
[[Imagine the tornado as a category 4 on the (EF scale)]]
As he and the children watch everything around them get sucked into the massive tornado, Alex hears a knocking noise somewhere below him. Alex was stunned as someone or something was knocking on his leg. He tried to decide if he should escape but quickly abandoned that idea as he guessed the person or thing below him cast the massive spell in front of him.
He slowly backed up and looked down but saw nothing. Alex was confused as he swore he heard the knocking noise below him. All of a sudden, he heard the knocking noise on his back. He quickly lifted his head and saw an old elven woman examining his back.
Alex was a bit clueless on what to do as he knew this old woman cast the massive tornado as he did not see anyone else, he even double-checked by using [Thermal Vision]. So unless someone is using magic to hide themselves, Alex can only guess that this old woman is the caster.
The old woman was just touching his back, examining the material that makes him, and whispering to herself.
