ALEX
6 months later
I don't have the slightest idea what time it is, but from the little light that entered the room it must have been early in the morning, around five in the morning and there's no sign of Gabriela anywhere.
I didn't hesitate to get up, because I'm pretty sure she would be in the girls' room. They were two months old now and we can say I'm fascinated by them.
When I opened the door, I didn't see Gabriela or the girls in their crib, which is strange. I left the room and headed downstairs to see if I could find them. Once on the ground floor, I started looking for them, but they weren't in any of the rooms. I noticed the door that led to the garden was half open.
As soon as I leave, I see Gabriela with the girls in her arms and walking from one side to the other. I could see something is worrying her, so I approached her and tried to pick one of the girls up, but she jumped and pulled them closer to her. "Hey it's me." I said, trying to calm her down. "You scared me, Alex." Gabriela responded, letting me hold the girl. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. What are you doing outside in the morning hours?"
"Jessica had a slight fever and Daniela couldn't stop crying, so I brought them both to calm down and see if Jessica's fever went down." I sat next to her and kissed both the girls and Gabriela on the temple, because I have no idea how long she had been here. "How long have you been here?"
"Honestly, I don't have the slightest idea. I would say a long time." She admitted "Why didn't you wake me up?" I asked curiously "Because yesterday you came home tired from work and I didn't want to bother you." She replied "You wouldn't bother me beautiful; you know I would be happy to do it. Plus, you don't have to carry all the girls' stuff alone, we're a team, you know?"
"I know, I just wanted you to rest a bit." She responded "And now the one who didn't rest is you. We can call your family to tell them we're not going today." I said and she denied "Don't worry I'll be fine, really. What's more, I'm not even sleepy." She assured, "So if you want to go, I have no problem with that. Do you know what time it is?"
"I don't have the slightest idea, honestly." I entered the house and picked up my cell phone to go out to the garden again. I looked at my phone and apparently, it's eight in the morning, which confused me a little. "Do you think we have breakfast and go to your grandparents' house?" I asked, putting my phone in my pocket. "Why, what time is it?"
"Eight in the morning." I informed my soon to be wife "Okay, let's go." We got up from the ground and I took her hand. Before making breakfast, we went to get dressed. First, we went to the girls' room to bathe them and dress them, and then we went to ours to get dressed. I could tell Gabriela was tired, but she wasn't complaining. As soon as she finished dressing, she sat on the bed and picked up Jessica, placing her hand on her forehead.
"Is she better?" I asked. "At least she doesn't have a fever, and seems to be better than she was when she woke up." I put on my shirt and walked over to where they were, I sat next to Gabriela and sat Daniela on my lap. "Well, I'm glad to know my princesses are okay. How about we go have breakfast and then go to great-grandmother's house?" Even though I'm more than sure they weren't understanding anything, the girls started applauding and laughing, making Gabriela's and mine's smiles widen.
After a couple of minutes playing with the girls, we got up to make breakfast. An hour later we were heading to Gabriela's grandparents' house and on the way, she had fallen asleep.
Once we got to the house, I took out the seat belt and before I could get out of the car, the back doors were already open to take the girls out. I didn't even need to look back to know Camila and María were taking them out. Everyone had been excited about the birth of our daughters, but the two of them were obsessed with them. If they could, they would be with them in their arms all the time.
I was about to get out of the car to go to Gabriela's side and take her home so she could at least sleep a little longer, when Ana arrives next to me with a sheet of paper in her hands. "Alex, Alex, Alex." She said "Tell me princess."
"I got it." She informed, making her frown without understanding what she's referring to. "What?" I asked "The lyrics of the song. Camila was helping me finish it." The little girl responded, "Did you really finish it?" I asked and she nodded. "What do you think if we both go somewhere else later and you show me what the lyrics sound like?"
"Will Mommy be there?" She questioned and I got down to her eyes level. "What do you think about surprising her with it later?" I asked "Yes, mommy would like it." She assured, "There will be no doubt about that." When I got out of the car the girls were already outside and being taken to the house where Angela was waiting at the door with a big smile. It doesn't take long for Ana to reach them.
Once I lose sight of them, I go to Gabriela's side who, as soon as I open the door, wakes up and starts looking everywhere. "Where are the girls?" She asked and a smile appeared on my face. "They're at the house with Camila and the rest of the family." I reported, "I was just about to have a heart attack." He admitted, "You don't have to worry, they'll be fine."
"I know, but sometimes it scares me not to have them in sight." She confessed, "I already told you I'm not going to let anything happen to any of the three of you, beautiful. You are my world and without you I'm not the same. Don't worry about that nightmare anymore." I asked since I knew it's something that terrified her, and even though it terrified me too, I didn't need her to know and add more worries to her. "It's okay."
"Come on, let's go down and join the rest of us." I said, unbuckling her seatbelt. "Who took them out of the car?" She asked, taking my hand and getting out of the car. "Your sister and Camila. I heard something they had a lot of clothes to try on them." I responded, "Oh no, not that, I'm not going to let them play with our daughters."
She didn't even wait for me, Gabriela got out of the car and headed towards the house. I knew Gabriela hated they used Jessica and Daniela as fashion experiments, and I swear sometimes it's funny to see the arguments she had with Camila, her sister, and Carlota.
I love this woman more than anything in the world, I really mean it, her and our daughters are the most important thing to me in the world and I also adore her family I must say, they took me in after everything I had done to Gabriela, and I appreciate it.
On the other hand, Federico had been sent to prison for twenty years for rape and assault, but not only of Gabriela, but of many more girls who came to light once her case came out. Gabriela decided to go to therapy to help her with the anxiety and memories of that night. I must say I had a strong fiancée, and I'm there if he needed me.
Camila and Kevin were a couple in the end, so I suppose Gabriela was right they had feelings for each other. She reminded the two of them for a long time and everyone laughed when that happened, because the two of them insisted on telling the story Gabriela told me about London, which, apparently, the rest of the family didn't even have the slightest idea, which they laughed a lot that day.
Lastly, the wedding would be in a couple of months and I couldn't be happier about that. I would marry the woman of my dreams and with whom I had the most beautiful daughters in this world. I love my life and my family.
