#Chapter26
Game-Over
The quietness was too eerie, almost deafening. From a distance the ticking of a clock could be heard. With each passing second the clock seemed to tick pieces of my life away, bit by bit.
The wait was killing me from the inside, I was suffocating. I'd never hoped so much that something was just a horrible nightmare. My whole body felt numb.
Footsteps could be heard approaching from a distance. Suddenly a group of beefy looking men entered and gave a brief nod in Dominic's direction. One of them stepped forward hauling someone with him.
My heart seemed to stop beating.
Daniel. Please no!
But despite my praying and hoping it was just a nightmare, there he was standing in front of me. In front of Dominic, his life on the line.
