Marcus Cutler POV:
Despite having a vampire literally haunting my thoughts, I ended up getting a good night’s sleep. That sleep was interrupted as something brushed softly over my head.
“Good morning, Marcus,” an all-too-familiar voice greeted softly.
I made the mistake of rolling over to face the source of the voice, and I opened my eyes to find myself looking directly in Julia’s burgundy ones. Even though I knew she wasn’t really here, I still recoiled from her, almost falling off the bed.
Julia smiled at me. “I take it I’m not a good wake-up call?” she asked innocently.
I glared back at her, looking at her lying in my bed. “No, you’re not,” I confirmed. “Why are you in my bed?”
“Because it’s comfy,” Julia replied as she got to her feet.
Now that Julia was standing, I could get a better look at her. She was dressed in a black, floor-length gown, but what really struck me was the pair of black feathered wings that were somehow growing from her shoulders.
