"This can't be what I think it is!" Sophie thought with an incredulous look.
The Golden Sentry Serum was Marvel's ultimate Super Soldier Serum. Created during the cold war, the scientists wanted to create a stronger super soldier to have ever lived but instead created a serum to godhood. Yes, godhood because the powers offered to the user were simply those of a god! It gave the typical Kryptonian powers while adding more. The most proficient user of this serum was discovering new abilities at every hurdle he faced which, to her, meant the serum could offer way more powers!
"Is this the real serum? And if it is, why would anyone give a Kryptonian this serum! It's like giving Thanos the Infinity gauntlet with all the stones collected right from the bat!" she asked herself while trying to rack her brain.
First of all, she found herself in DC as a Kryptonian. Why exactly would she become a Kryptonian right off? What's so special about this Kryptonian exactly? Now, the Golden Sentry Serum, why exactly this serum? There were a lot more serums out there in the Marvel universe but this one would make her become so op it was no joke, especially because of her Kryptonian heritage.
"But, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. If I delay any longer, something might come from the future and snatch this from me, this is DC after all," she said to herself.
Due to her alien physique, she did not sweat at all thus she did not need to shower that often. If she was feeling extra lazy, she would fly to Earth's orbit and radiate herself well enough for any germs to die off of her and her clothes. Today, she needed to be alone in order to gather her thoughts and think of what to do about her current predicaments.
Using super speed, she was already dressed in a second, making her realize just how convenient that was. She took her school back pack, shoved her homework books in and walked out of her room. Immediately, she was hit by the lively, bright colours the wall papers were emitting, somehow making the atmosphere feel homey. That's when she remembered that her foster Father, Bobby Lackley was an internal designer artist.
'How convenient, someone close to me that somehow knows design! He must have been put there by plot for the previous Sophie to use him in order to get herself a super suit,' she thought as she walked down the stairs. There, she found the family preparing to eat breakfast.
There were the two ten years old boys, Fred and Dennis Lackley, the biological children to Abby and Bobby. They were fighting each other for cereal, the fights sometimes result in a food fight if Abby does not come in soon. Her elder foster sister, Stacy McCohen, was busy fiddling with her phone as she tried and failed miserably in trying to scoop some cereal with her spoon.
Stacy was the school belle, beautiful and conniving, just how they make them. The good thing was she did not bring that attitude at home and she was a fairly good sister. She almost hit her friend with her purse for making fun of her(Sophie), only to insult her when she thanked her. They weren't that close yet they weren't distance to each other at all, it was a weird relationship. It certainly did not help that her friend was one of the daily victims subjected to the X-ray vision by the previous Sophie, who now that she thought about it was quite hot. Apparently she steams her vagina everyday after school in her parent's spa...
'The fuck am I thinking? I like men, hot, muscular, sweaty men!' Sophie reminded herself when she noticed iced her thoughts were wondering else where. She thought of Batman doing his workout only for the mental picture to be overlapped with Gal Gadot's version of Wonderwoman inside the hot spring. 'Shit! Teenage hormones are turning me gay!'
"You alright, cricket?" Bobby brought her out of her mental rage with the question.
"Yeah, yeah," Sophie answered quickly, mentally thanking him. "I'm heading out to school, I realized I need a book that could help me with my homework in my locker."
"Awww, honey, take a fruit an snack on the way," Abby, forever in mother mode, quickly handed her an apple and a banana almost immediately. Sophie always wondered just how she did that, it was like she always materialized what they needed out of thin air.
"At least one of you is serious about school," Bobby grumbled as he gave Stacy a side eye. The teenage girl was not even aware the subject was somehow shifted to her as she burst out laughing while staring intently at her phone. Bobby dag into his wallet and gave her ten dollars. "For lunch and nothing else." Like Me Krabs suddenly smelling money, Stacy looked up almost as soon as the bill was out of the pocket and looked at Bobby.
"Daddy dearest, I..." she started sweetly.
"You have a job," Bobby shot her down immediately. Stacy pouted adorably.
"But, daddy, I won't get paid till end of the month and I used my last salary to pay for a new handbag. Please, I need some money or my social status will be dead!"
"You social status has been on the brink of death every day for four years, if it can survive this long then it can survive a little longer!" Bobby shot her down again.
"I'm going out," Sophie declared as she walked away, leaving Stacy trying to do her best.
Once out of the house, Sophie got into a slow jog heading to her hidden place where she would use it o fly off. It was secluded with no cameras around for a mile. She needed to be out of the city if she was to take the serum for the effects when transforming a Kryptonian was quite unknown. She just hoped it wouldn't be like a nuclear bomb went off for that would alert so many people it won't be funny.
Arriving at the nearly broken down bridge after ten minutes of jogging, she strapped her back pack underneath the bridge before taking a deep breath in and lowering herself, building momentum. This would technically be her first flight and though exhilarating, it was quite terrifying knowing you would be taking to more than a hundred feet in the air and the only thing keeping you up there is the power of your mind.
"No distracting thoughts. I am going to fly and it will be spectacular!" she encouraged herself befo e closing her eyes. The ground below her started shaking, becoming intense with every passing seconds. Slowly, dust started whirling around her as the gravitons around her became under control. Soon, pebbles rose up, defying gravity, slowly floating all around her before she opened her eyes and then...
BOOM!
The ground beneath her broke apart as she blasted to the sky. Her hair waved madly behind her as she slowly came to a stop then looked down below her. If this was her previous self, she would have been shaken in fear looking down from this height, but now, she was feeling exhilaration. She laughed, slightly nervously, before willing herself to fly forward.
Due to muscle memory, she found she had streamlined herself as she took off. The air was blasting onto her face and she knew her clothes would not be safe if she flew any faster so, came in another power Kryptonians have, bioelectric forcefield, slowly encasing her and protecting her clothes from harm during high speed flight. She realized she could not feel the air resistance any more, prompting her to increase her speed. But, like a rookie driver who just steps on the gas suddenly, she found out she had gone too fast too suddenly.
Six consecutive sonic booms echoed in the air as a figure surrounded by a conical wall of air blasted through the sky of Metropolis and disappearing almost immediately, leaving citizens wondering what was that. Sophie quickly reined her speed coming to stop before hitting some mountains. However, her speed carried forth momentum and kinetic energy that would not disappear just because she stopped thus, the entire mountain shook as a shockwave hit it, scaring the wildlife away.
"Could have been worse," she thought to herself as she slowly landed on the peak of the mountain then took out the vial.
"To drink or not to drink?" she asked herself as she stared at the serum. Using her Microscopic vision, she checked the serum on the microscopic level and what she found just blew her mind. She was not even smart enough to even roughly describe what was happening, making her almost believe in it completely. However, the biggest question remained, would she leave it to chance?
"Will I let my insecurities make me leave this alone only for it to fall in the wrong hands later one? Or will I trust that this is the Golden Sentry Serum and blindly use it in the hopes it doesn't kill me?" she asked herself. However, she had her answer easily enough.
"This is DC universe where random shit can happen any time. Leaving this serum alone might result in someone else finding it and the results of he or she using it might be disastrous. Moreover, on the offchance that this is real or can give the user the powers of Sentry, then I must make sure nobody but me uses it."
So, she pulled off the cork and downed the serum into her mouth. Just out of paranoia, she threw the vial into her mouth, chewed it to dust and swallowed. Lex Luther and other intelligent villains had a nasty habit of finding things they had no business finding at all.
"Now, just to wait," Sophie said to herself as she went to sit down, only for a sharp, nasty pain to assault her, making her almost fall. "Shit!"
