The squad leader of the squad of Commonwealth soldiers opened Deanna's wallet and repeatedly looked at the contents for a long time before the soldier raised his head, then signaled the people behind him to lower their weapons.
"Congressman Monroe, we are an organization established after the entire system crashed. For some reasons, we need to strictly control the people we save, so I hope you can excuse me if I offended you recently."
Deanna smiled and shook her head to indicate that she had not taken it to heart, and then said, "I want to return home if possible, I would like to know if you guys can help me."
The soldier squad leader said, "Congressman, may I ask you exactly where you live?"
Everything was going as planned, after that Deanna informed him the address of her house and just as he was about to ask a question, he heard the man in front of him speak.
"That would be a problem since that place is within our zone of influence, so I have to trouble them to come with us and let's do an inspection."
"Do we need to be inspected to get back to your place?" Alicia questioned with a serious look.
Hearing the dissatisfaction in Alicia's tone, the soldier was in no hurry, so he slowly explained, "I'm very sorry, I'm just following protocol, I'm a soldier simply. My superiors can have a specific talk about your situation. I can only tell them that accepting our inspection won't do you any harm."
Deanna looked at her husband silently, revealing a trace of success in her eyes and after making eye contact they both nodded.
"All right, we can accept the inspection, but I want to talk to your superior in charge."
Hearing this, the soldier obviously hesitated, his eyes showed a thoughtful look, and then he made an apologetic gesture and walked to a corner of the room, they should be communicating with their superiors by radio right now.
Deanna's expression was very calm, she could not see the slightest nervousness and even looked at the equipment of the people in front of her with great interest. Airon once said that this is a large scale organization, and some of their productivity has been restored which was proven by looking at these people.
The soldier was gone for a long time and seemed to be waiting for something, after about half an hour, he returned and then handed the radio to Deanna, indicating to pick it up.
With some confusion, Deanna took the radio, and as soon as she picked it up she heard a woman's voice from inside.
"Deanna?"
"That's right, it's me."
"Carly Fiorina."
The female voice gradually overlaid itself into a figure in Deanna's memory, and the expression on her face filled a hint of surprise, "My God, Carly, it's amazing you're okay!"
"Yes, you went to Washington and there was no news. I thought your temporary settlement had fallen through too..."
The two talked for ten minutes, and finally Deanna smiled and handed the radio back to the Commonwealth soldiers.
For some reason, when she handed the radio back, she could clearly sense that the other party's demeanor became more respectful.
"Ms. Monroe, since everything has been cleared up, let's go to our temporary station. There's still a lot to deal with."
Deanna then nodded her agreement.
Just as some people were walking out the door of the bar, Merle pointed toward the street corner not far away, and out came a man dressed in a camouflaged military uniform and holding a sniper rifle, it was Jon.
Several soldiers were about to raise their weapons to warn, but Deanna stopped them. "This is Sergeant Jon, he's an officer of the few soldiers left alive and he's committed to look out for my safety."
So far, the group finally established contact with the federal outpost without any risk.
However, the development of what followed was a bit beyond their expectations, so things would be much more complex than they had imagined.
...
Atlanta, home base.
After a few days of hectic work, things at the prison are finally back to normal and people's lives have calmed down.
The people in Washington are very satisfied with life here, not only can they have enough food and clothing, but some pre-apocalyptic entertainment activities have also begun to resume at the base.
After all, what's to stop them from training to maintain their own security? Although not everyone is like that, they also need some other activities to beautify their lives, right?
At this moment, Airon was sitting in front of his office desk, looking at the pending tasks recorded in his notebook, he felt his head spinning.
This is what he told Rick and the others to do before they left,
It really was done without compromise, but now it looks like these people really only did a perfunctory job.
According to the scouts and outside checkpoints at the central base, they had found graffiti drawing Fireflies and several armed convoys that were strange to see in that part of Birmingham, but they hadn't made any further movement.
He had heard of these people, apparently they were a branch of the military that was possibly opposed to the CRM and their continued plans. Therefore, Airon should be on the lookout for that group of people.
Just as he was covering his face and worrying about the new problems he was about to face, several people in charge of the base began to enter one after another.
They all looked at the depressed commander in a strange way, what's wrong with this guy, why does he look so unhappy?
Seeing that it was almost time for all the captains to arrive, Airon arranged the documents on the table and began to sort out his thoughts.
"All right, they are all here. This time I called them here to discuss the direction of S.C.T.'s development and our future."
Airon handed them all a file with documents that further explained what will be done now.
This time it is not only the captains from the central base, but also Ezekiel, Nick, Victor, Jesus and some other people who came from Washington.
To accommodate everyone's emotions, it is impossible to exclude these people and it is also not the intention of Airon, who wants to increase the leaders with true capabilities.
"There are many new things. First, the children at the central base will be trained just like at the Atlanta base. The second is about integrating new survivors. Thirdly is the increase of our secure territory and as far as taking all of Birmingham we have to discuss it."
"All the details are in your hands, there is the exact survivor count and our actual scale of how many survivors we can feed per year with our current capabilities."
Everyone turned their attention to the documents in their hands. After all, it was related to their future life. They all read it very seriously, and the office was very quiet for a while.
The detailed plans are mainly those mentioned above, but they are written in more detail about the materials.
Regarding the children's training plan, this is an issue that has been going on at the Georgia base and from Shane's words it has been going very well.
He doesn't want the child to be exposed to too much prematurely, but the daily training can be started early. After all, it is necessary to pay attention to proper growth. In this type of environment, good skills and marksmanship, too, have become a necessary survival skill.
Then there is the question of continuing to search for survivors. Airon plans to leave once everything is in order, but the prerequisite is to build the outer wall of the base completely. The outer wall of the central base is related to the next development progress and must be completed as soon as possible.
And as to whether they can take Birmingham, this will leave it on the table.
