Chapter Twenty-Three
When I wake I hear rocks shifting. Kia is still, but her head is raised. If it was something dangerous, she would have alerted me. Either way, I stay in the bed. It’s been a while since I’ve slept this deeply. Kia pushes into me before getting up. I feel her walk off the bed, but I hear nothing other than the shifting rocks.
There is a deep growl from Kia, and I hear a sharp yell. Kia does a deep-throated chuckle, followed by, “Kia!” A voice yells, making me internally groan. How the hell does this bastard keep finding me? I shouldn’t have left behind a scent.
“Kia, where are you?” The voice hisses again as Kia comes back to lie next to me. Kia lets out a low warning growl.
“Kia, where is Senja?” The same voice asks. “You’re the one that led me here.”
I feel Kia bury her head as I glare at her. Traitor. Behind the curtain of my wings, I see a spark of light. I just want to go back to sleep.
“Senja?” Silas asks as I hear him step closer.
