Chapter Twenty

I wake to find Kia laying on my legs, carefully avoiding my wings. My wings are wide open and are holding an insane amount of stitches. I can also feel them in my legs, which by the way; Ow! My leg twitches, which makes Kia stand. She sits next to my head, making me turn it, immediately making me roll my eyes.

Silas, Ronan, and Alek are lying in rows next to me. Lubo is giving me a curious look as he lies on Ronan’s legs. I squeak as I sit up, my body feeling stiff. Silas turns his head, one bed away. He looks worse than I feel. He’s covered in stitches and bruises.

“Morons,” I breathe as I try to stretch my wing. I don’t know if I am referring to myself, or him.

“How are you alive?” He asks as he grimaces. “This pain…it’s something else.”

“That it is.” I say. “And I guess I’m too stubborn for even death.”

Silas snorts, “I’ll agree to that. Why are you always fighting or arguing?”
