Screams of shock echoed through the arena. Blood poured from open wounds. Damien was still looking in his direction. The small smile he had from seeing her faded away. Everything seemed to be moving in slow motion.

As soon as she noticed his eyes were beginning to close, Safira raced forward. Nothing else mattered at that moment. She did not care for the rules. She did not care about the ancient customs they were to abide by.

All she cared about was the well-being of her mate.

Safira raced through the crowds and propelled herself into the arena. She stood protectively before her mate, glaring daggers at Markus.
