Kapitel 36: Chapter 35: Eve of the Big Day
It's been a few days since Jian and the others challenged me. Tomorrow is the day when the practical training will occur within the classes so most people are getting ready. The training arenas even in the dorms were all filled to the brim with students whenever there were no classes.
Though Jian and the others don't seem to care about that as they have been silent all week. They spent the remaining day without training at all. However, it's not like the others would have to think why they suddenly became shy to know what happened with that sudden challenge in front of the entire class.
They've been extremely quiet and it's making me a little comfortable. They even look away whenever I meet eyes with them. The students who were looking at me as If I was leeching off of Rena also shut their mouths and decided to ignore me as a whole.
Though Jian's quiet right now, I'm sure his personality wouldn't let him sit quietly like that even after getting beaten up though. Something, like he cheated and used even more potent drugs, would most likely escape his mouth whenever someone speaks about that fight a few days ago.
They weren't wrong though, as I did consume a rare elixir that boosted my abilities by two levels.
Anyways. all I could say was they are a little bit suspicious, Jian and Reign seem to always look in my direction as if they were waiting for something. They also group up in the arena without even properly training at all.
Tomorrow is the big day, so I'm relatively safe keeping in mind that the enemy isn't stupid.
I was also hanging out more with Rena these past few days and I could say we've become close friends quite a bit. We have lunch together, and sometimes I even spar with her a little, improving my connection with her authority even more. Though she seemed quite tired these days, someone in her position would ultimately face fatigue with all the work and planning needed to push her position in the class. Regardless I've learned more about her personality, mainly about her great care and loyalty to her friends that she feels like an actual good friend rather than a leader. This was probably why her leadership is incredible in the first place.
Anyways, I was surveying the whole training area as I was trying to look for subtle hints on who was the brain behind all those opportunistic approaches. Rena who was a competent person was currently falling under the attacks of.
As I look around, however, I suddenly met eyes with Rena who was walking in my direction already. It seems like she has something to say.
" Mon, can you come with me for a second? " She asks me with a serious face, catching the attention of almost everyone in the area, making even the people close to her wonder.
" I mean... It's not like I can just say no when the young mis- ... you're looking at me like that. " I smile while teasing Rena who seemed a bit down.
" Alright, thanks for this. " Rena says calmly not even catching what I said.
It's quite serious I see...
Without any other conversation, I just followed her outside the training arena on an empty hallway connecting to the said arena.
" So what is all this about, Rena? " I don't what all this is all about, but if it's a strategy that they've come up with for tomorrow, I'm deeply interested in listening.
" I'm very sorry! " She bows down all the way to her waist level completely throwing me way off guard.
" What? " I could only stutter with the abrupt apology she suddenly said.
" I... I'm going to have to ask you to leave my side... " She says meekly as if a huge burden was currently on her shoulders.
Though her words were vague, I already knew what she meant by those words.
" Why is that? Young miss? "
" Young.. mi- ? " She stutters at my words but ultimately gives up as she bows yet again.
' I'm sorry Mon... ' Though she wanted to say so much to Mon, Rena could only keep it inside of her thoughts.
These past few days, particularly the night after the day of the incident with Mr. Paul. Rena was called to her father's room. The Guild Leader of the Mein guild.
" Why is father calling for me? " Rena who was lying on her bed, was alerted by Jane who was serving as her maid.
" I'm sorry young miss. " Jane replies.
" What are you apologizing for? " Rena confusingly questions her.
" Student Mon is a variable too unpredictable even by our investigation team. I and James went there earlier, and their reply was something everyone could think of but the reason why was confusing even to them. " Jane says with a troubled expression, as she looks at Rena.
" He has incredible talent, yet he's settling for a position under you, despite not being afraid to ruin an opposing team, mainly Reign's side. He has an unknown motive, and he's clearly using you for something. " She says.
" And you guys told on him to father? " Rena seems as if she couldn't understand the situation.
Jane could only lower her head as she face the confused Rena in front of her.
" He's a reliable ally, Jane! He was what we were missing all this time! "
" I"m sorry, young miss. I know you hate betrayals and laying off your people, but despite his talent, he's dangerous! "
" Then you think that's enough reason for me to see that bas... father?! " Rena looks at Jane as if she had just betrayed her even close to tearing up.
" This... I knew you wouldn't listen to me if I told you instead! "
...
" ...Which side are you actually on Jade? " Rena says with a serious tone.
" You of course! "
" Then why... "
" I... "
" You know why I'm building my team, you know how important he is to my plans. My plans to actually escape the grasp of that man. You know how hard I worked for it right? " Rena who had a serious look on her, had a tear fall from her eyes.
" He isn't going to stop y- " As if a sudden realization came to her mind, it was already too late to change the outcome. Jane who was filled with regret tried to muster up all the words she wanted to say, but those exact words seemed to have become unable to escape her mouth.
" You were there, you were with me during all those planning, but you just went ahead and gave it to that bastard on a silver platter! What was the use of hiding all those plans to obtain authority if you're just going to take them away the moment the plan actually starts?! " Rena's tear drops started to escape her eyes faster as she could only look at Jane in defeat.
" I did that to protect you! " Jane shouts as she musters all her strength with her legs even crumbling to the floor.
" Protect me from who? The only one who helped me actually handle Reign's side? " Rena stood up from her bed and started walking past Jane who was helplessly staring at the ground.
" Tell him, I'm coming. The plan to become class president is canceled. You and James, and the whole association is dismissed, alert everyone that's on my side the day before the training this weekend. That's probably what he's going to make me do anyways. Can't have her daughter take over the company after all.
" As for Mon, let me handle him. I've only given him a hard time all throughout his time serving me, I'll at least try to make it up to him so give me until Friday" She says with an emotionless tone as if the world had abandoned her.
" Young miss... " James who was waiting outside of her room tried to grab Rena who completely ignored him walking past everyone straight to her father's office.
