Kapitel 4: [Eden] - II

After roaming a few alleys and making sure the men weren't following me, I looked around the town.

It was a bustling medieval city, filled with people, merchants, buildings, and even animals. All types of people wandered about on various errands, some dressed in colorful clothing and others in black armor and hoods. There were even more of those odd creatures that called themselves knights and warriors, though not many were armed.

All kinds of different noises were going around me; the voices of other people talking about nothing and the cries of birds. It almost sounded more real than my own dreams.

After walking a bit longer I found what appeared to be a marketplace.

On the street were stalls and stands.

"Oh no...no please..." I started to beg to the vendor that sold vegetables. The stall owner saw my pitiful state.

"Why are you pleading for your life?" She laughed. "There is no need to plead in my market."

I couldn't help but blush. "Sorry ma'am. But there are some horrible monsters chasing after me, and I've already run away once...I just really wanted to make it to this inn and stay here overnight without being attacked."

"Well, since they're still hunting you, perhaps you should seek shelter." She handed me a small bag with some coins. "Here, buy yourself whatever you'd like for breakfast tomorrow morning."

I nodded gratefully and took the sack from her hands. "Thank you so much!"

With that I turned around and made my way back into the crowds.

Well, tricking people here is certainly more easier. Perhaps I should thank my feminine features for that.

"So what would be the best choice of breakfast, if I may ask? Oh yes! Eggs benedict!" I said loudly to several passing strangers. They all looked shocked at my outburst until one spoke up.

"Hey hey hey, where did that come from?" He approached me slowly while trying his hardest not to offend me

"Oh sorry! I must have had too much wine last night. Please excuse me." With that I quickly walked off.

I heard someone laugh.

"What was that?" Someone else said.

"Hmph! That girl needs to go back home where she belongs and stop speaking nonsense!"

They think of me as a girl, huh? And I am offended.

I turned back and glared at them.

"Do you know how rude you are?" I asked them calmly. One man stepped forward.

"You seem harmless enough," He said in an arrogant tone. "But don't say I didn't warn you when you end up dead in the woods somewhere."

I raised my hand and pointed, "Don't take that tone with me, or you'll soon regret it! Now get lost before I start hurting you!" I said.

That's a lie. I hope you back off since the crowd is whispering, mister.

I scowled, glaring daggers at the men hoping they would be scared. But the world does not work the way we want it , so they only laughed in response. As if mocking me.

Just because I am look feminine doesn't mean I can't fight or threaten people with the power of words and looks. I have known plenty dangerous women roaming the streets of London. The fairer sex is the most underestimated, hence the most powerful if taught well.

I ignored the men and started searching for something to eat as the people stared me down and whispered amongst themselves. My eyes fell on a sign, which read 'Gourmet Deli' and I smiled.

Perfect.

I followed the signs to the deli, just as I was about to enter- "Over there! Catch that man!" It was unmistakably the voice of one of the men who wanted to harm this body.

Damn it. Just what did this body owe them?! I could hear their footsteps approaching, so I decided it was time to flee, or they will catch me again. I bolted towards the nearest entrance, and tried to keep my breathing under control. But it wasn't working very well as my lungs began burning. I ran faster, hoping I won't be seen. Unfortunately, it didn' work either, as footsteps and shouts followed close behind.

I kept running blindly as the sun rose higher in the sky and the air became cooler. I stumbled upon an alleyway. A large tree blocked the alleyway, so I could hide underneath and wait for the men to leave.

Unfortunately, fate seemed to hate me.

My pursuers burst through the bushes as if they were part of the forest itself, and shouted at me angrily.

I knew I was screwed.

I turned around, ready for a fight...only to see a beautiful woman with blonde hair staring right at me.

"Excuse me? Sirs, if you're done playing with your prey, I suggest you go on your way." She smirked at the men, and I could tell by her tone she didn't like this situation.

The man who wanted me to be burn was about to respond to the woman, but his companion grabbed him and shoved him aside.

"This is none of your concern. Leave our hunt to us." He snarled at the woman. She frowned at him, then looked back at me.

"If you insist." She sighed and shook her head at the men.

But she didn't leave. She took out a staff from underneath her cape. I was speechless for a moment.

How did she even hide it in there?

She looked at me with darkened eyes. A chill ran down my spine. She was going kill me. Then again, she didn't seem like the type to hold grudges against strangers. But it was clear she wasn't going to let me escape, so I decided to play along.

"Please don't kill me not doing anything wrong and I just wanna get away from that crazy bunch of men and find somewhere warm to sleep tonight."

But what if she held a grudge against this body?

The woman ignored me and charged at the two men.

I doubt the staff would do much against the armored men. But maybe I'm underestimating her? Either way, I needed to save myself. I turned tail and dashed towards a nearby wall. I crouched low and peered over the top.

The lady was agile and quick. While I watched from above, she hit and kicked both men repeatedly, causing them to fly through the air backwards.

I gasped as I watched the bodies smash against the ground. I couldn't stand there any longer. So I climbed onto the wall and jumped down from it. I landed on my feet and glanced around. There was nobody near.

Great. Perfect.

Now that they were gone, I had to hurry. If I stayed any longer, my pursuers would get suspicious and might follow me.

I ran out of the alleyway as fast as I could but someone grabbed my hand and slammed me to the nearby wall. The wooden staff was horizontally held against my neck. I stared at the clear blue irises in fear.

"Who are you?"
