Chapter 247: A Sense of Balance
Olivia POV
It was the blood that did it. Not so much the sight but the smell. My sense filled with a gentle scent of copper, bringing me out of the void.
I would never get it out of my mind, the sight and the sound. It was likely I’d injured more than just his nose. His entire face looked broken. The only consolation was that it was just his face.
But I wanted him to remember me and what I could do to him if I put my mind to it.
It was probably petty, he’d already said he would leave us alone, and there was no reason to doubt it. I trusted Bethany as far as I could comfortably spit her, but he wasn’t her.
It shouldn’t have gotten to me. Carl was alive and I knew that it wasn’t the fact of it so much as the fact that he’d tried.
Raul Diaz had tried to kill Carl not caring who else he might hit. Lynn and Anthony were also in that car, and our car wasn’t that far away. A bullet could have easily hit the back window and one of the kids.
