Kapitel 9: THE TWO PUPILS.

Once inside the inn I decided that we should all be in the same room, however, with a snap of his teeth Franz said: "I don't want to be in the same room with a dog from the church", he didn't even let me speak when he whipped the door. the door of the inn and he left, we waited a while to see if he would return, but there were no signs that he would, at least for the rest of the night.

- Let's go to the room, I want to ask you something before you go to sleep.

- Ehhhh okay….

When we entered, I waited for both girls to sit down and decided to ask them why the archer behaved like that.

-What I would like to know is why Franz has been behaving like that, since we met in the guild, he has just been talking to me sarcastically even though I don't know him at all.

Jumping right into it like that was pretty blunt, but this can affect how we perform in combat, and I'd rather do it now than have to grieve a loss later for something I could have prevented.

- Can I talk for a moment?

- You have the floor, Rose.

- We hadn't told Saria, but both Franz and I belonged to an orphan home on the outskirts of the big city for at least ten years. We were both orphaned in the great crack eruption that occurred fifteen years ago where it was a great massacre that killed thousands of people.

He didn't seem to be making anything up, and how could I not believe him if I had also been a victim of that catastrophe.

- I didn't know they were hiding something like that, for good reason they spoke as if they had known each other forever.

- We lived there for five years and during that time he became very fond of a sword master who belonged to the church named Vannar

Although I remember Vannar was a great friend of my teacher, I got to know him, he seemed to be a kind person, but mysterious, I only limited myself to talking about him superficially.

-I have heard some stories about him, but it is said that he died, although they are only rumors.

- One day the teacher stopped coming to visit us, and Franz was sad, he always said that he wanted to be like him and after a while he also disappeared from the orphanage at the same time as Vannar, I didn't hear from Franz during that time until he returned badly wounded one day several years later.

-I know of some rumors about that person that still run on the street about whether he became corrupt or whether he betrayed the church, but he just disappeared.

- Seriously Saria, I guess no one knows the truth about that incident.

- I know that you are suspicious of me for having been sent by the church, however, you can rest easy, I grew up in the church's orphanage, but nothing ties me to it, I simply take missions as my sworn duty to help others people, besides that it is to get resources for the home of all those children who are my brothers.

Wow, that's a surprise...

Franz murmured, he had been listening to the conversation from outside the inn, he was afraid of leaving his companions alone with me, although he never said so, he just yanked in through the window.

- I know something that may interest you about the death of your teacher...

- What can you know about me? You talk to us in such a familiar way as if the simple fact of traveling with you already gives you the right to interfere in our affairs, be thankful that I don't drill your head just for the money, the church is a big lie, although your money is worth it.

- Enough Franz, I told him everything, I know he doesn't seem like a trustworthy person, but he has opened up to us and he wants us to cooperate and get along.

- You told her about us Rose... I can't believe it, do you remember that day I returned in the arms of teacher Sora, a few days ago I was with teacher Vannar, I had been learning fencing with him for a while, we hunted monsters that were far away from the crack in the middle of the forest when suddenly four guys attacked us, we defended as we could, but they were too strong, they hurt me and Vannar was fighting with them while protecting me. A sharp whistle was heard in the direction from where we were making our way, he grabbed me and threw me with all his strength towards there, while I was in the air I saw how they turned to try to go after me, one of them jumped at the same time that a chain held his leg, at that moment I saw something on the neck of whoever wanted to catch me to my surprise it was a church insignia just like the one you wear, my astonishment was such that I came to my senses when Vannar yelled: go away, we see you soon, you know what to do, I thought she was talking to me, but I guess she was referring to the archer who at full speed picked me up in the air and ran with me into the city without looking back while her face turned pale and my teacher was mutilated in a cloud of attacks.

- I'm sorry, I didn't want to, it wasn't my intention, I didn't know what had happened, forgive me Franz...

It was evident that even having lived together, there were things that Rose did not know, and she felt guilty for understanding how Franz would feel about it when she told me his story, her tears simply flowed while covering her face, this just made the moment more bitter for me...

Saria, not knowing what to do, simply decided to take her out of the room, leaving the two of us alone.

-Sora told me about this Vannar person, that he was someone very kind and dedicated to those in need, however, his great skill that rivaled with that of our teacher he made her the object of having many dangerous missions. Still, I had no idea that she had welcomed you as her disciple, much less that something like this had happened with your teacher Vannar, it's a surprise to me.

- So, you know Sora, what relationship do you have with her.

- She carried me in her arms when I was a baby and they took us to the church orphanage, since then practically all my upbringing has been by her, are you satisfied with that?

- I know she works for the church, but she continues to help the orphanage even after we became adventurers, she taught me to use the bow and most of the techniques I know, I couldn't be more grateful to her, for that I'll take the floor for now.

You know that the rumors say that with the appearance of the cracks, fewer and fewer people dared to enter them and much less to try to seal them, some say that he died in a solo assault on the great crack that is near the city, but with your testimony I can simply say that it is a cover-up by the high command.

- That's a sure thing, those "devotees" are always hiding something, it is remarkable that they have a dark background.

-Vannar's biggest wish that he managed to tell the teacher is that he wanted to retire from the battlefront to take care of the orphanage where he used to go frequently.

- Teacher…

- But when the time came to retire, the church did not want to allow someone like that to stop working for them and they decided to eliminate him.

- Those damn… why.

-When the teacher realized what was happening, it was already too late, is what she told me with great regret.

I just didn't have the courage to tell them the whole story since it was something my teacher entrusted to me as a secret that she shouldn't talk about to anyone else, but the feelings got the best of me this time.
