Kapitel 59: 59 To Erengrad
For two days Mark spent the time he stayed on the carriage mostly as many nobles from afar as well as merchants wanted to meet the now famed warrior spoken in the entire city. Some Balls or parties here and there Mark was flooded with invitations but he only chose a few ones as he knew he could not entertain all of these nobles.
Thus he only went for the ones that really matter from what he had learned in the information provided by the Lahmian sisters. Surely this action of his warranted an attention from Neferata now that he has taken her subordinates under his helm.
It was only in the afternoon when the men of the Baron he had released including his son arrive at the city which made them slack jawed at how the man that held them was now hailed as a legend in their home. The third son did try to protest to his father but it all fell in deaf ears, he did try to cause trouble as the lady he had been pinning for which was his brother's wife was found to have visited Mark.
But the young man's tantrums were ignored and even got scolded by his father who knew the unhealthy obsession his son has for the girl. What they didn't know was that the girl his son has chosen as a concubine was the head of the Lahmian sisters posted here in Marienberg.
Rumors did get circulated but nothing too damaging or anything, not that Mark cares as he was now on the ports inspecting the products left for him by the Baron. He did not bother much on how the local guards were starting to change the post of the Brettonian soldiers that were now outside the city in camps.
He did get visits from the Duke which made him aware of the weird looks the Damsel has been giving him. Not the one most ladies give him but on that was like a little bit of angry and kind of like she was blaming me for something. But it was her question that made him realize why she looked like that.
"Where were you when you were a child?" The Duke was startled at her sudden question too but he just kept silent about it. But Mark did not answer as he just ignored the Damsel in front of him.
Though the meeting was quite tense Mark didn't care, why is she so hung up that he did not get discovered when he was young anyways. Sure he just arrived recently but he could not say that and the fact that she even seems to blame him for not becoming a 'Lost boy' of Brettonia irked him a little.
If FBI was in this place then they would have been arrested for child-trafficking the young kids of Brettonia. Centuries has passed yet they still go around picking kids away from their families to train them for the Lady yet only the girls get to leave. And not all seem to become Damsels and Prophetesses as the others were used as handmaidens for some of the better performing women.
Not that it was Mark's business but he just wishes that they leave him alone. He just wanted to slowly develop without the trouble brought upon his territory. Mark was satisfied that he counted about 30+ grown men and women who were enslaved due to debts . About 20+ kids which irked him a little but this was a medieval world were life of the commoners were not valued.
And ten Elves, which made Mark realize that they were indeed aesthetically beautiful people. Only three males while the rest are female. Then there were four dwarves who were not chained as they were valuable assets but was just deep in debt due to overdrinking and gambling. Some Beastmen which amounted to ten chained and bound as they still acted feral being servants of chaos and all.
Surprisingly the other boat also has its own set of slaves in the brig of the ship. 15 Orcs which were ten males and five females, as well as 30+ plus goblins and snotlings which were in different sizes but normally around three or four feet in height. Five ogres who occupied a large brig on their own, two minotaurs chained on another. And there was even seven halflings going around the two ships serving food. From what Mark was told they were also slaves as they were captured as thieves by some merchants.
But the one that Mark was thankful that the Baron provided was the one Rock Troll that was just sleeping on the floor of the brigs. This was something Mark wanted to capture as these creatures have something Mark wanted to research. Their Minor Regenerative factor, which was the reason one goblin became a warlord in the future.
Graum the Paunch was heard to have eaten troll meat but got indigestion because of it. But somehow the goblin gained the trolls regenerative factor making him a large fat goblin that has superhuman strength rivaling the trolls and minor regeneration making him tireless in the battlefield. Mark wanted to make his own super soldier serum as it was the base requirement for one to survive in the Marvel and DC Universe.
Thus the need to have various specimens, not that he would strap them all on a table to dissect, he would just ask nicely for some blood to be drawn. Which Mark started to teach the Vampires how to, they were amazed at how I pulled out a blood bag kit and showed them how to gain blood from people without the need for killing them.
This made them do wide eyed which Mark somehow found cute as they were all breathtaking beauties. Watching them turn into a speechless Pikachu meme tickled Mark in more ways than one. But he did not tease them about it as he started to teach them about human anatomy and biology.
He will turn them into nurses and doctors in the future so they would have reasons to draw blood from people. He even showed them the benefits of having blood drawn and stored like emergency blood transfusion for patients or soldiers in battle. As useful as they are in battle, their senses in being able to tell the blood flow of living beings make them into very formidable surgeons.
And if Mark could make a super soldier serum with regenerative factors included then the vampires would have a stable source of food as well as Mark gaining formidable men on his ranks. Mark did not get any other kind of slave as this was what the Baron could take out for the meantime.
It was then he met the crew that was meant to serve him which he did not mind, he knew there would be spies on the ship but taking them out now would be detrimental to his future plans. He looked at the crew that was made up of newly trained sailors but some did look like seasoned pirates with the scraggly beard and sweaty looks.
"Everybody, set sail!!!" Mark had already let his carriage go back to Brettonia with some of his men handling the horses. But he could still go there as he already installed anywhere doors on the three ships including the caravel.
The Frigates has no cannon on its sides but only ballistae and ladders which were understandable as the cannons were not yet quite available for humans as the dwarves made them. Sure some ships have cannons already but the Baron would surely not give Mark such expensive weapons. Not that it matters as Mark could replace the weapons in the future.
The Vampires following Mark were Maria and the concubine of the son of the Baron, who is Helga. They did not follow as Mark left a anywhere door to a secret hideout used by the vampires in Marienberg. Mark still has business to do in the city but it was not ideal that he is present to the populace's minds should his plans be enacted.
He did hear that the Duke of L'Anguille was able to find something of importance on the city which was rumored to be an artifact found hidden in the temple of Olovald. As much as tempted Mark can be knowing that it might be an item with a relation to a god, he still has reservations in offending the Duke for something he might not have a use for.
Mark stood at the helm of the Caravel watching the city vanish from his vision. When he was sure of the distance was enough so no people were able to know what he planned for the ships. He climbed the Mast of the Caravel until the three ships are now aligned.
"Men!! Give me your attention!" Mark said as he stood on the small ship's crow's nest.
"I am sure you have heard of me, of my duel against the Grail Knight!!'
"You may have been given under my command along the fact that you are now leaving your home. But fret not! I have come to a plan on how you could meet your families again! As I speak right now, my associated have started to gather your families to arrive at our destination within a fortnight!"
"And where would our destination be?! Not in Brettonia but somewhere else!" Mark could see the confused faces of the sailors as well as some who looked more skeptical. These were the sailors that Mark suspected to be spies, he knows that they have brought with them pigeons to carry letters but that would be all for naught. He already released all of the pigeons on his backyard.
"We will be sailing to Norvard or now called Erengrad!!" Mark's smile made the sailors still as they knew where this place was but that city had just experienced a war and was on its way to recovery. Only a few years passed since the end of the war in Kislev but Mark would use this ship to gain foothold on the northern country.
He did not care for what the crew in the ship thought as they were humbled the next day during a friendly spar against Mark's guards. It made them realize that the ones around Mark were no mere decorations on the background. So they were quite obedient in following Mark's orders, some spent their time fishing which made Mark happy as he added new types of fish on his Backyard.
Right now Mark is looking at his recently completed mission.

Not that he wanted to as he only got the Blue Silver Grass Emperor as a Spirit but it was enough for Mark to start his cultivation Journey. Thus he went to start practicing as he waited for certain info to reach his ears. So he just stared at his status while reading the Manual to familiarize himself.

Last mission is almost finished as he could already build the power generator, the one that he has is still quite crude and unfinished for a reason. He wanted to build a secondary generator too to receive some extra rewards. Thus he spent days to understand the cultivation manual before he started to practice it.
Other than going back and forth from the carriage which he redirected to travel everywhere to gather more information as well as slowly integrate the other Vampires on other cities under Mark's command. It was about a week until Mark received news he has been waiting for.
"My lord, I have found the entrance to the Under Empire…"
