Kapitel 4: A Brewing Storm

Idris Rosario, Bayville High.

It has been a week since I came to the Institute. It was boring as fuck. Like literally nothing to do. Sure, over the weekend there's stores to go to but nothing big. We can't use the Danger Room yet since I turned it to a glorified Microwave. My classes were all boring and uninteresting. Whose bright idea was to give a teenager three history classes in one semester. (This actually happened to me, IRL).

Right now I was in lunch messing around with the slush they call meat. Scott sat next to me and he was glaring at Duncan something. I don't know his last name, all I know he's some bonehead football player who so happens to be going out with Jean. The girl mentioned was sitting next to him laughing at some dumb joke.

"Dude. Don't you think it's weird that you like Jean?" I asked Scott and he looked ready to argue with me that he didn't like her. "Please, don't say you don't like her. You've been eyeing her and Duncan up since I first got here. I mean unless you play for the other team, I don't judge." I finished raising my hands and he just glared at me. Before taking a bite out of his sandwich. He just eyed it and then looked at me.

"Why do you think it's weird?" He said quietly, looking miffed he got caught.

"I mean you guys were like raised together, right?" He looked at me still confused.

"Forget about it. The heart wants what it wants." I stood up and threw away my food and turned in my tray. P.E was next! Best subject ever!

Xavier, The Institute.

"How are repairs on the danger room going Ororo?" She sat across from me sipping a cup of tea.

"Well professor. The robots we are utilizing for the repairs are doing well for their first time as janitors." She said with a smile, she was flipping pages in a book.

"Good. Good. We need to be prepared for another event like this should Idris lose control again." She paused for a moment, like she wanted to say something. "Please. Say what's on your mind." She looked at me and then back at her book.

"I think we need to test Idris's powers. Fully." I hummed and folded my hands together.

"I fear it may be too dangerous right now." She put down her book and stared at me fully.

"He disintegrated and melted 20 of our training bots and could have harmed Jean and Scott as well. That's not even talking about what he did to the room overall and the observation room." She said with finality. I hummed.

"You may be correct. Cerebro had yet to determine his power level. Perhaps we could give him some actual tests instead of just the danger room. A spar between you and him?" I offered and she thought for a moment, before nodding.

"Our powers could work against each other. That would be suitable." I smiled.

"Fantastic. Now we need to find a code name for him. Something relating to fire?" She nodded and we brainstormed names for Idris. It was an eventful period.

Idris, Bayview.

"What the fuck" I said as bashed the lock to my locker. I could never remember numbers all that well.

"Language Mr. Rosario." A women said behind me, I turned around and looked at the principal. Ms. Darkholme. A real uptight bitch.

"Sorry Ms. Darkholme. Locker stuck again." I said as I yanked the combination lock to prove my point. She just kept glaring at me with those empty eyes. Weird shit.

"If I catch you using that type of language again. It'll be detention. Am I understood?" I finally got the locker open.

"Pure as a priest from now on." I said raising my hand to my heart. She just glared at me and stalked away. What a spooky woman. Something ain't right with her. I grabbed some textbooks and saw Jean walk down the hallway. Right, we have Government together.

"Hey Jean. Heading to class?" She stopped and looked apologetic.

"Sorry. Duncan needs to talk to me about something."

"He needs to talk to you during class?" I asked skeptically and I saw the blush creep up her neck. "Right. 'talk'. Have fun, Red." I walked off. Jean doesn't seem the type to skip out on class for anything. Hey. Whatever float her boat. I mean she could literally float a boat, in air. Back to Government. It was stupid, all I need in life is my powers. I'm a bonified badass.

"Mr. Rosario." I heard in my head and I looked around.

"Professor?"

"Yes. I'm contacting you to inform you that you will be training with Storm for the foreseeable future, considering the damages to the Dangar room." I sighed.

"Sorry about that Professor."

"It is fine Idris. You need help more than the other two for now. Storm will be judging the limits to your powers through live combat."

"I don't doubt Storm's ability but you sure it's safe? I kinda pulled a whole meltdown on those robots."

"I am confident in Ororo's ability to handle herself. Be ready after school. Have a good time in Government."

"You said you would stop reading my mind without permission!"

"Have a good day." With that I felt the connection break. Fucking Government. What a waste of space in my schedule. When I sat down in my seat the rest of the period droned on and Jean never came in. I was worried, something must be wrong.

"Mr. Rosario. How many times has the Constitution been changed?" I heard Mrs. Smith ask me from in front of the white board. She had a piece of chalk ready to write down my answer.

"27?" I asked thinking of a random answer. She smiled and wrote down the answer.

"Correct, Mr. Rosario. Now what are these changes?" she asked me again and I looked around the room for an answer. I saw it then, The Bill of Rights on a wall.

"The amendments, Mrs. Smith." She smiled again and wrote amendments on the board.

"Correct again." She went on to explain the amendments and why we have them for the rest of the class. Boring shit. That's when the bell rang, and she excused us form class. Finally. I left class and looked for Jean. I walked through the hallways and looked into empty classrooms, asking people if they'd seen Jean. That's when I got to the football field to see Jean and Duncan arguing about something. I walked up towards them, and Duncan glared at me when he saw me, Jean turned around.

"Not now Idris." What did I do?

"I'm only here to check up on you. You kind of skipped the whole period, I have some notes from it." I said as I held up the notebook. She looked grateful, then Duncan pushed past her and pointed a finger at me.

"Listen here bro. The lady said to fuck off, so fuck off." HE jabbed his finger in my chest and I just looked at it then at him then at Jean.

"Ok 'bro'. Just wanted to check up Jean. Make it quick we got to had back home." I said the last part to Jean and she nodded quickly. Duncan just snorted when I turned around and started walking.

"You better run away, wetback" I stopped. Wetback? Really? I turned to look at him. "That's the best insult you have?" I threw off. My bookbag and tossed the notebook. He opened his mouth to say something, but I punched him before he could talk. Before my powers I never would have done something like this. I was a weak guy who almost stood shorter than every guy in my school. Now I loomed over everyone here. He landed on the floor and I met him there mauling on his face. Jean just screamed and tried to pull me off.

"Idris stop!" I could feel her tug on my shoulder, but I didn't. His face was still intact. "Idris stop it now!" She gave one final tug and used her telekinesis to throw me off of him. I rolled across the field landing at the bottom of the stands. My back crashing into a wall. Jean was checking on, and I could see smoke rising from my clothes.

Really Jean? Come to the aid of a dipshit racist. I stood up and leaned against the metal fence above the wall. The metal melted as my hand touched it. This is new, my powers turning on when I'm not in flame mode. I looked at my arms and could see burn marks in my clothes. Fuck. I looked back at Duncan and could see him knocked out. Jean looked at me with regret.

"I didn't mean to." She said hurriedly. I turned on my fire mode and stormed towards her. My footsteps leaving burn marks on the turf.

"Like hell you didn't!" She stood up ready to defend herself.

"You could have killed him!"

"He called me a wetback, and your gonna defend that?" She looked conflicted. "Oh my god you are." I balled my fists, and she raised her arms looking like she raised a shield. I just scoffed and launched myself in the air a puff of smoke and fire following me.

What right does she have to defend that piece of shit. I thought we we're supposed to be some big happy family or some shit. I flew back to the institute my clothes completely gone. I should probably some underwear that I wear underneath my clothes so I'm not just raw dogging it all the time. I flew to Professors window and he saw me and rolled over to me.

"Idris why are you here?" He looked confused, right school had just ended.

"Jean and I kinda got into a fight, and as you can see. I don't have clothes." He looked confused but just nodded and places his fingers on his temples.

"I've informed Ororo, she will bring you a suit for you to change in. For now, explain the situation." He folded his hands and gestured for me to start talking.

"Well, Jean and I have class together. Before class she said she had to talk to Duncan, her boyfriend. She'd be a little late, so I thought it was no biggie. The whole class period and Jena never shows up. I get worried and start looking for her, I found her on the football field with her boyfriend arguing about something. I go up to them and one thing led to another he said some racist shit and I laid him out." I crossed my arms and I could feel the flames get bigger as I was talking. Professor leaned back and put his hand on his chin.

"This doesn't explain why you are heated."

"She used her powers to throw me off of him. My clothes were already burning off when I got up, so I thought it best to just scrap them." He nodded, Storm had walked In with my suit. It was just a one-piece sleeveless suit, so my arms could be free to shoot to different levels. There was also a mask coming up to fully cover my face, I had asked for that specifically. I grabbed it and went behind a nearby tree and changed. I got done and was fidgeting with the mask around my face, it wasn't really comfortable out of flame mode.

"Thanks, Ororo." She nodded and looked for an explanation. I pointed to Xavier. "Ask him for the details after."

"Jean used her powers on you to stop you from harming this student further?" I crossed my arms.

"Yup." He nodded and looked to Ororo.

"Well, it is good that things did not escalate further." I was bewildered.

"That's it. No punishment for Jean, just roll over and take it? She used her powers on me!" Ororo raised her arms in a peaceful many.

"You assaulted a student Idris, and she stopped it." I looked at her with anger itched onto my face.

"He deserved it!"

"No one deserves to be attacked. We have our powers to defend humankind, not threaten it." Charles said rolling closer to me. It was happening again, I could see heatwaves in the air and Charles stopped rolling towards me.

"You expect me to just take a racist asshole calling me wetback and smile about it?" He didn't say anything. He didn't need too. I could see it on his face. "Bullshit." I became flame and flew off. Ororo calling after me as I went. I didn't care anymore. I have my powers to defend myself, not be a little bitch whenever someone disrespects me. I flew for a while, before stopping at some clearing. Ororo landed a few minutes after me.

"You didn't have to follow me." I said as I deactivated my powers, and just say down on the grass. Ororo followed my lead and sat down next to me.

"I understand how you feel. Better then Charles can. I too was discriminated against when I first came to America."

"It's not fair. Jean gets to use her powers on me, but I can't because I'm a walking heater." I fell backwards looking at the clouds.

"Yes, she should not have used her powers. But we are supposed to be an example. You are one of the first of the new generation of X-men." I scoffed.

"I didn't do anything wrong." She shifted her head side to side.

"Maybe, maybe not."

"It's a maybe not. If being an X-men means people can talk to me however they want. Then fuck that." I stood up at this point and Ororo just looked sad.

"If you weren't an X-men where would you go?" I paced back and forth thinking about it. "This is the only place that you and other people are safe. You have yet to control your powers." She made a good point, control was the only reason why I was here. A place to stay too, but that could be worked out on its own.

"If I were to leave, would you stop me?" I asked her and her face turned grim. "Unbelievable. You can preach all you want about being the bigger person, but you would try to stop me."

"It is a dangerous world out there as a mutant."

"I know that! But it would be my decision. Just as getting these powers, and joining the X-men. You can't hold me against my will."

"I do not wish too." Her eyes were soft and her voice was the same.

"You are making it hard to believe that." Underneath my feet burn marks were starting to form. Ororo looked down and saw them.

"You need to calm down Idris." I snorted.

"Why? Why is that I always need to calm down?" She started to hover and her eyes turned into the milky white.

"If this escalates further then I will be forced to engage you in combat." I only eyed her and could see waves of heat radiating off of me.

"But could you stop me?" The ground underneath me was starting crack and pop. Clouds were starting to form as well, lightning cracking in the air.

"I do not wish to fight you, Idris."

"I wouldn't want to fight me either."
