Kapitel 34: Chapter 34 Dragon Roar!!

Rhaenyra stood there in shock, her face soon turning to anger. The memory of her arguments with her father resurfaced, where she asserted that Daemon wouldn't harm her or her sister, Valarissa. Yet now, not only had he caused Valarissa's accident, but he also provided an almost impossible excuse for it.

Knowing Valarissa's fear of dragons, even baby dragons, it was beyond belief that she would willingly venture into the Dragonmount and claim the wild Cannibal, the largest wild dragon.

Afraid for her sister's well-being, Rhaenyra hesitantly asked, "How is she?" Her voice wavered with worry. She could see the pain in her father's eyes as he stared into nothing.

"It only says she is seriously injured, with maesters of Dragonstone confirming her survival. But she will have to live with scars and burn marks from dragonfire, not to mention she'll be bedridden for many months. I don't know how much of this is the truth," Viserys explained, looking at Rhaenyra. Her face displayed a mix of anger, pain, and worry, mirroring his own pale expression.

"Didn't you keep telling me that Daemon wouldn't hurt her? You knew him! Didn't you believe in your uncle, and see where that brought your sister, Rhaenyra?" Viserys said, his voice laced with anger.

Rhaenyra, feeling betrayed by her uncle and ashamed of herself for trusting him, couldn't find words to respond. The weight of the truth sank in, leaving both father and daughter grappling with the consequences of that misplaced trust.

With clear anger in her eyes, Rhaenyra stepped forward as she said, "Father, allow me to take Syrax to Dragonstone." Her voice was not pleading as it was before. Every bit of affection for her uncle had vanished, replaced by burning anger as she glared at him. Rhaenyra took a deep breath, trying to steady her voice.

"Father, I am your eldest daughter and the heir to the Iron Throne. I will not stand by and do nothing while my uncle endangers the lives of my sister and the rest of our family. Please, let me go to Dragonstone. I will make sure that my sister is safe, and I will see to it that my uncle is brought to justice." Her words were strong and unyielding, reflecting the determination within her.

Hearing Rhaenyra's declaration, Viserys immediately rejected her idea. He stepped forward and said sternly, "I forbid it! You are not to leave the Red Keep, much less go to Dragonstone. I don't know your sister's current situation, or even if she is safe there." The weight of uncertainty and fear for Valarissa's well-being hung heavily in the air.

"But I had sent Otto and the King's Guard to Dragonstone. They will protect her with their lives and bring Deamon here for his trials."

Seeing the reluctance in Rhaenyra's eyes, Viserys' voice lost its sternness as he softly added, "I don't want to keep you from your sister. But I can't let you go there alone. You are my heir and the future of our kingdom. I can't risk losing you too." Tears welled up in his eyes as he took a step closer to her, reaching out to gently touch her arm. "Please, trust me when I say that I will do everything in my power to make sure that Deamon is brought to justice, and that your sister is safe. I love you both more than life itself, and I will not rest until this is all over, but I can't lose you too." Viserys said the last part like a mumble.

Rhaenyra was silent, just as she was about to say something, a powerful and resounding roar echoed outside the redkeep and the sound of penetrated throughout the keep. The roar was so strong that it caused the ground and the windows to vibrate.

The sound was familiar, making the hair on the back of Viserys' neck stand up. He had heard such a powerful roar like the one just now many, many years ago – it was the roar of his dragon, Balerion.

The roar was so powerful and loud, comparable to the largest Targaryen dragon, Balerion, leaving Viserys confused about whose dragon it could be. His curiosity got the best of him, prompting him to rush to the window.

Opening the window, he witnessed a giant dragon that covered the skies, with its black charcoal-like scales, strong wide wings, and a size larger than his own dragon, Balerion. The shock of seeing a dragon bigger than Balerion left him beyond words.

Observing the dragon heading towards the pit and circling it, he realized this wasn't a riderless wild one but a dragon with a rider, adding to his confusion. The spectacle unfolding before him raised questions about the identity of the dragon's rider and the purpose of their arrival.

Suddenly, he heard another exclamation beside him that made him even more stunned. "Father, is it just me, or is that Valarissa behind the unknown dragon?" Rhaenyra asked aloud, looking at the dragon in the distance.

Viserys was taken aback, but then he remembered his brother's scroll saying that Valarissa claimed a wild dragon, popularly called Cannabil by the people of Dragonstone, known as the largest and most dangerous of all wild dragons.

If it was true, then shouldn't his daughter be bedridden from the injury? Another thing that shocked him was, if it was as Rhaenyra guessed and the person behind the dragon was Valarissa, she had not only tamed Cannabil but also trained it to a point where it was following her commands.

He was even more amazed by the sight of the dragon circling around the pit. He couldn't wait, as he really hoped it was his daughter, and the content in the scroll was just part truth and part a ploy or prank his brother Deamon's did to annoy him.

"Ser Harrold Westerling!" Viserys called out.

Immediately, after Viserys' loud shout, the door to his chambers opened, and Ser Harrold Westerling walked in, making a respectful salute. "My King."

"Take some men and your carriage to the pit. Find out whether the rider of the dragon is Valarissa. If it is, inform her of my summons to come here immediately. If she refuses, bring her back here by force if needed, Ser Harrold Westerling," ordered Viserys.
