Helena woke up to a kiss being pressed to her cheek, a smile forming of her face as she sighed, her eyes still closed.
"Good morning, honey." She let out in a slightly raspy voice, letting her eyes flutter open. However, at the sight before her, she furrowed her brows. "What are you doing?"
"Breakfast in bed!" Mark let out, holding a big plate full of food, as he beamed down at her, proudly. "The internet taught me how to make use of Arizona and Callie's old waffle maker."
Going in for a kiss, Helena sat up in her bed, rubbing her eyes with her hand. As she saw the amount of food in her plate, however, her eyes widened. "Mark, querido, w-what is that?"
"Waffles?" He questioned.
"No, y-yeah, I know... just how many exactly?" She stuttered.
"F-four?" Mark's smile fell a bit at his wife's frightened face. "And ten strawberries?"
At his pout, Helena shook her head. "Mark, thank you. Really, I appreciate it. But you know I don't eat a lot for breakfast, so you're gonna have to help me out here if we don't wanna throw it out..."
"Well, yeah, I know that." He told her, as if it was obvious. "I was going to make you two but then I remembered that you were pregnant and, well, eating for two. You gotta feed the little baby, so I made four." He explained, innocently, as he extended the plate to her, a smile back on his face.
"Oh, Mark Sloan." Helena giggled. "Sometimes you really don't sound like a doctor. You know they don't mean literary, right?"
Mark pouted a bit as Helena took her first fork to her mouth, letting out. "It's good, though! So go get yourself a fork and help me out here."
——
"Try again. It could be a false negative." Cristina encouraged Meredith, who had been trying to get pregnant, to no avail.
"Maybe it's too early. How long have you been on the treatments, ten days?" Helena questioned between the two taller girls as they walked down the hallway.
"Yeah." Meredith nodded.
"Totally early." Cristina agreed, hands in her pockets. "Pee on a bunch on different sticks. Don't let the stick win."
"Well, it's a scientific test!"' The blond argued. "I hardly think I can bend it to my will."
"Are you getting the good ones, though? Cause you should, maybe ask for one in OB." The short girl suggested.
"I'm doing three surgeries today. Did four yesterday. I'm unstoppable." Cristina let out, proudly. "And you got defeated by a piece of plastic covered in urine?! Buck up!"
"Well, I'm doing pretty good myself. Plus, I have a tiny little human growing inside of my and haven't had any morning sickness so far!" The brunette let out, happily. She'd already shared the news of her pregnancy with her friends, Mark having done the same."Though I might throw up if Mark doesn't stop trying to force food down my throat." Suddenly, she realized. "Oh, how cool would it be if I was pregnant at the same time as you, Mer? It would be great to be pregnant at the same time as a friend, the kids would have someone to play with!"
"Did everybody get paged?" Jackson asked, joining the trio with April and Alex.
"It's that time of year, the chicks have hatched." Alex let out, Helena making a noise in agreement.
"Is that some sort of... code?" April asked, furrowing her brows.
As the group arrived at the lobby, the found a group of young people in lab coats, name tags in them and awe filled expressions.
Cristina grunted, crossing her arms. "First year med students. Too dumb to find the toilet."
At that, Helena shot her a look. "I like med student day! They're all so excited and... . It's refreshing."
"Good morning!" The Chief greeted, Lexie by his side with the assignments for the day. "Behind me stand the interns and residents of tomorrow. Today, you will show they what it's like to be a surgeon. When you go into surgery, they go into surgery. When they have a question, you will answer."
Helena smiled at the group in front of her, hearing her people whisper behind her. "It's like court ordered community surgery."
"I'd rather be picking up trash off the side of the highway..." Meredith whispered back, making Helena discreetly pinch their arms. When they let out a small noise of pain, she simply smiled angelically to the people in front of her.
After a few other names were called out, Lexie announced. "William Bittner, Dr. Campos."
At that, Helena raised her hand with a smile, looking at the slender, blond man in front of her. After each med student had his resident, the doctor approached the student with a tight lipped smile, extending her hand for him to shake.
"Hi, William. I'm Dr. Helena Campos, but usually people just call me Dr. C, go with what you're most comfortable with with." She greeted.
"H-hi, Dr. Campos." The man greeted with with a bit of a frantic handshake, his hands a bit sweaty. "I'm Will, William B-Bittner... oh, you already know that." He let out, readjusting his thin glasses frame on his nose. "That was... yeah, of course you already know that, Dr. Grey said it..."
Before they could continue with the conversation, everyone's attention was raised by the Chief's voice, who had raised his voice for everyone to hear during his conversation with Cristina. "I'll be picking my Chief resident in a few months and you're still a prime candidate."
"Chief Resident?" Helena questioned, her eyes narrowing in determination.
"The raise for Chief resident is on?" Meredith asked.
"Since when?" Alex questioned, Helena nodding along.
"H-how long have you been evaluating us?" April questioned.
