Kapitel 12: Sick (Storm's Point of View)

Five hours Earlier

I wake up with a pounding headache and my eyelids threatening to tear out of my skull. Groaning, I open one eye cautiously, unsure of what was happening to me. I haven't been sick in ages.

How could I be sick on such a significant day? I winced when the thrumming pain in my head gets worse when I try to move my facial muscles into a smile.

Even the throbbing in my head couldn't distract me from the fact that this was the day I was going to confirm Makai as my mate. Closing my eyes again, I lay there for a few minutes, hoping that the pain would somehow disappear. My head was still pounding, but it wasn't as bad as it had been when I initially awoke.

A new round of knocking draws my attention back to my door, and I use my magic to open it as I always do. When nothing happens, I blink in astonishment and try again. Nothing happens for the second time, and I'm baffled by the new development.

What is happening to me? Why isn't my magic working?
