That was why he was a hundred percent sure what had enveloped his body was not darkness. Instead, it was something far more sinister. Something ancient and evil, malicious and filled with depraved thoughts. Only the dead could hear the whispers within it and retain their non-existent sanity...

This feeling was very similar to the one he had felt from the tree itself...

Cain screamed, but no sounds came out of his throat. His body thrashed around, but he felt as though he had fallen into quicksand. The more he struggled, the faster he sank into the pit.

Eventually, he stopped struggling and simply accepted his fate. However, shortly after, he sensed that something. The 'darkness' around him was slowly starting to recede.

Bracing himself, he prepared for the worst...
