Kapitel 17: 17. Best Medical School

"This is going to make me fat," Javin muttered, while eating a big spoonful of strawberry ice cream sprinkled with choco chips.

Forth laughed and handed him a glass of mineral water. "You will still look handsome and charming even if you are a little plump," said Forth. "There are still two more documents we need to simplify your way and after that, we'll have plenty of time to do something less taxing."

Javin laughed and finished the ice cream in his bowl. He returned to his laptop after finishing the ice cream.

Forth washed the dishes used for dinner and then followed up to his study. He glanced at the wall clock. At ten in the evening.

"Javin, do you mind if I open the window? It's a bit hot tonight," Forth said, walking to the window.

Javin turned his attention away from the laptop screen and smiled at Forth. "No, Phi, open it. I'm a bit too hot."

Forth opened the large window leading to the balcony and let the light night breeze into the study. Forth looked up and saw a stretch of a deep blue sky with flecks of yellow and glistening white of stars. Its clear and nice starry night.

"Phi?" Javin called while touching Forth's shoulder. The older man was surprised and turned his head, looking at Javin.

"Yes?"

"Didn't you hear me calling you?" asked Javin. "Three times?"

Forth smiled awkwardly. "Uh, no. You called me?"

"You daydream while looking at the sky, as if you were in another world," Javin said softly. "What do you think?"

Forth stared at Javin for a moment, then shook his head. "No. Nothing. I just like seeing the night sky that bright," Forth pointed towards the sky.

Javin followed Forth's gaze. "Yes, it is very beautiful," said Javin. "You really really like the night sky, Phi?"

Forth sighed and closed the window. He walked towards the table followed by Javin behind him.

"Is this all over?" asked Forth, pointing at the laptop screen.

"Yes. Now you can enter all the data and the formula will work alone to calculate the results," said Javin while moving the cursor on the laptop screen. "But sometimes you still have to check manually, because sometimes a virus will mess up the formula in places. Don't worry, it doesn't happen that often actually, but at least a manual check every two or three months is still needed."

Forth stared at the laptop screen with a satisfied look. He was determined in his heart to contact Shone tomorrow and ask him to raise Javin's salary, no need to wait for his three month probationary period to end.

Javin has only been in the job for three weeks and he is already proving himself worthy.

"Javin, you can become a very rich man with this skill of yours," said Forth. "Not being a hacker, because no matter how great it is, it is a crime. However, you can create a working formula that you can sell to make it easier for people to work, make applications, games, or anything that might be made via the internet."

Javin smiled shyly at Forth's words. "I... am not sure I can do it, Phi. After all, everything related to the internet and gadgets, it's all man-made and I'm more interested in learning the source directly."

"Hmm?" Forth's forehead creased. "The source?"

"Yes." Javin nodded enthusiastically. "The human brain is the resource. I want to specialize in brain surgery and study it more specifically. Neurology, its more interesting."

Forth looked closely at the young man in front of him, wondering how much ambition and desire was hidden in that slender body and beautiful face.

"You will succeed, Nong, I'm sure of it. You are great in your simplicity and intelligence and that will make you successful."

"Thanks Phi, that cheered me up" Javin said happily. "Now, can I ask permission to return to my room? I have an assignment to submit to campus tomorrow and it's still not finished. You can call me any time if you need me."

Forth smiled. "Go and do your work. I'm going to test your formula against some reports I just received from the New York branch."

"Would you like me to make coffee to accompany you to work?"

"I'll call you later for that."

Javin nodded and left the study. Forth sat in front of his laptop while thinking about something and reachs his phone.

"Harry, are you asleep?" greeted Forth after hearing Harry accept his call.

"Good evening, Forth, what's wrong? I'm still working on the paperwork for a lawsuit filed by the environmental community in Manila. My informant has provided new evidence that they are paying homeless people to dispose of their waste used baby diapers and expired medicines in an old disposal area in behind the hospital," Harry answered at length. His tone was full of anger.

"Calm down, Harry," Forth said to calm his friend. "I thought from the start that they just wanted money from us, but I've always believed that all our hospitals pass tests for sewage problems and we always update the system every two years, according to procedure."

"I know, Forth, my dad and then me take care of all that stuff and that's why I'm so pissed at those damn hippocrites" Harry exclaimed.

Forth smiled. He liked Harry's passion for work, even though his friend and great lawyer could be stubborn at times.

"Ah, Forth, what's wrong?" asked Harry then, realizing that Forth hadn't said anything about the need to make the call.

"Harry, you know that I just got a new assistant?" asked Forth carefully.

Among his four confidants, namely Jock, Shone, Harry, and Kwan, he trusted Harry's thoughts and opinions the most for professional matters, because he knew that Harry was a very rational and professional person.

Shone had said jokingly that a man like Harry could drag his own father to jail if he found him cheating at his job.

During college, Harry was nicknamed the Heartless playboy at university. However, when it came to professional matters, Harry always knew best.

"I know, but I haven't had a chance to meet him because of this problem in Manila. How? Is there a problem?"

"No. No. He's good, too good even, considering he doesn't even have a degree yet because he hasn't graduated from college."

"Can he solve your work pattern problems?"

"He can. He's used to working part-time at night because during the day he has to go to college and I think that makes his biological clock turn a little nocturnal," Forth said with a chuckle.

"That's the most important issue we always had and the most difficult problem, too, so if that's not a problem, what is?"

"Hm, I don't think this is a problem. I just need your help to find a special medical school for brain surgery. The best one in the world."

In his study, on the couch, Harry stared at the phone in his hand, before answering Forth. "Forth? Are you sick?"
