Kapitel 31: The Twilight God

The wind halted, all noise gone and the silence rung through Lucius's ears. The pulse of his own beating heart thumped though his mind, and time came to a stop.

His vision clouded over to a milky white. His vision leaving his body in a twirl of the very fabric of space, sending him back across the currents of time, as distant echoes of roars and shouts began to blast at his senses.

He stood paralysed, only allowed to observe the lost battle of forgotten heroes.

"Gormlaith! We're running out of time! The battle..." A man with fire like hair came sprinting past Lucius, an ancient Nord battle axe holstered on his shoulder.

Before Gormlaith, a woman in full steel plate and short sword, could reply a dragon swooped down to halt the heroes in their steps.

"Daar sul thur se Alduin vakrii. Today Alduin's lordship will be restored. But I honour your courage. Krif voth ahkrin. Die now, in vain." The dragon lunged at the male warrior, murder in its eyes.

The dragon's tunnel vision failed it as the sword maiden quickly dispatched the beast by leaping on its head and stabbing it straight through the brain.

"Know that Gormlaith sent you down to death! Hakon! A glorious day, is it not?" The woman boasted.

"Have you no thought beyond the blooding of your blade?" The now named, Hakon, replied.

"What else is there?" Gormlaith questioned with a grin.

"The battle below goes ill. If Alduin does not rise to our challenge, I fear all may be lost." Hakon solemnly voiced, peaking over the edge of the mountain to watch the battle as it raged on.

"You worry too much, brother. He will come." Gormlaith assured him, as an old man with an Elder scroll on his back walked up to the pair.

"Why does Alduin hang back? We've staked everything on this plan of yours, old man." Hakon asked the old man.

"We've bloodied him well, Felldir. Four of his kin have fallen to my blade alone this day." Gormlaith began her shallow boasts to the old man.

"But none have yet stood against Alduin himself. Galthor, Sorri, Birkir..." Felldir warned.

"They did not have Dragonrend. Once we bring him down, I promise I will have his head." She continued.

"You do not understand. Alduin cannot be slain like a lesser dragon. He is beyond our strength. Which is why I brought the Elder Scroll." Felldir scolded the brash woman.

"Felldir! We agreed not to use it!" Hakon looked up from the battle.

"If you are right... I shall have no need to use it." Felldir replied.

"We'll see soon enough. Alduin approaches!" Gormlaith raised her sword to the horizon. "Let those that watch from Sovngarde envy us this day! Joor... Zah...Frul!" She finished with an ethereal shout of pure hatred leaving her throat, and forcing Alduin to the ground.

Unbridled rage filled Lucius and his mind tore itself apart in comprehension of such hatred.

'Joor Zah Frul. Mortal. Finite. Temporary.' He recalled his newfound knowledge, with only one thought.

'How cruel.'

"Nivahriin joorre! What have you done? What twisted Words have you created?! Tahrodiis Paarthurnax! My teeth to his neck! But first... dir ko maar. You will die in terror, knowing your final fate... To feed my power when I come for you in Sovngarde!" Alduin raged.

What followed was nothing but slaughter. The brash woman died in almost an instant... Even without his power of flight Alduin by all means was not weak, and shouted her to nothing but vapour in the snow.

"Damn it all! Felldir use the scroll!" Hakon bellowed, before jumping out of Alduin's lunging jaw of razor sharp teeth.

Felldir pull out the scroll and began a chant. "Hold, Alduin on the Wing! Sister Hawk, grant us your sacred breath to make this contract heard! Begone, World-Eater! By words with older bones than your own we break your perch on this age and send you out! You are banished! Alduin, we shout you out from all our endings unto the last!" He recited from the scroll.

As he finished ripping Hakon apart his glowing red eyes leered at Felldir.

"Faal Kel...?! Nikriinne..." Alduin muttered, before releasing a world shaking roar as he slowly warped out of time.

"You are banished!" Was the last thing Lucius heard before waking back to his time, and the world spun once again.

He composed himself at the sound of an aged voice reaching his ears.

"There is no question. You are doom-driven. Kogaan Akatosh. The very bones of the earth are at your disposal. Go then. Fulfill your destiny. Alduin will be coming. He cannot miss the signs. Prepare yourself!" Paarthurnax voiced to Lucius as Ciri was checking up on him.

"Are you okay?" She asked with both her hands on his shoulders, looking into his eyes.

"Yes, i'm fine. That was just a very weird feeling. I was there, but, i wasn't?" He drawled out in confusion.

"Anyway. We need to get ready. I saw him fight, we need to be at out very best to stand a chance." He declared and prepared himself, scanning the skies like a hawk would its prey.

"Do you have the shout?" Ciri asked, hope in her eyes.

"Unfortunately, Arngeir wasn't wrong in saying the shout doesn't belong...It feels awful even thinking its words." He explained.

"Then only use it on Alduin." She declared.

Lucius nodded in response as the resounding roar of Alduin carried over the chilling winds.

"Get ready, Dovahkiin. I will support you as best i can." Paarthurnax declared with a mighty flap of his wings.

"Bahloki nahkip sillesejoor. My belly is full of the souls of your fellow mortals, Dovakiin." Alduin mocked as he hovered above Lucius, who slowly drew his blade and ignited it in black lightning.

"Die now! And await your fate in Sovngarde!" Alduin roared, swooping down to attack Lucius.

Foul words of power left Lucius mouth, that lit an unending fire of rage in his pale silver orbs, turning them into pools of bottomless power.

"So you know the weapon of my dead foes. It changes nothing!" Alduin raged as he crashed into the floor by the word wall.

Lucius shot a bolt of fire that bounced of his dreaded black scales and shot a spike of ice that broke on contact.

Ciri flashed on Alduin's horn and slashed at his red eyes, slitting one open, causing a spine chilling roar of pure power to seep into their ears.

"Yol!" Lucius cast as Ciri leaped of the flailing head of the first born. The fire slamming into the dragons reared mouth and burning his insides.

He slide under the dragons stomach and swung his dragon killing blade at its ankle and spun to shoot a charge bolt of lighting through his empowering ring.

Alduin slumped into the snow covered ground in a short groan before dragonrend wore of and he tried taking to the skies.

However, Paarthurnax had other plans by ripping into his brothers wing to keep him grounded.

Alduin had enough and shouted to the heavens, casting a storm of fire and stone that rained upon the fighting trio.

Lucius cast a giant ward over him and Ciri and watched the two dragon wrestle like cats.

"Nothing hurts him but lightning and force!" Lucius shouted to Ciri over the storms winds.

"I gathered that!" She screamed back.

Paarthurnax flew away from Alduin, escaping the grapple.

"Joor Zah Frul!" Lucius shouted at Alduin, before he could follow his dragon ally.

"Curse you, Dovakiin. Your soul will be mi-" His rage was halted by a beam of pure dark slamming him into the peak of the throat of the world.

"Shut up and fight." Lucius coldly whispered. His voice carrying as cast clear skies to stop the storm, revealing the stars of the Magna Ge.

A fierce glare was shot by both son's of Akatosh.

"You cannot defeat me here! No matter what you do... Your magic is strong, Dovahkiin. A fool i would be to deny it. But, your loss is inevitable. I will return after my strength grows from the souls of your people and make you watch as i cleanse this world!" Alduin sneered.

"i won't let you leave!" Lucius hissed, throwing himself at the downed dragon lord.

He slammed Alduin's mouth closed with a blast of raw magic, and placed his hand on his dreadful horn. An intense gasp left his throat as pure divine power entered him, his eyes flashing between deep, glowing blue and his regular silver. His skin went deathly pale and his hair brightened to a luscious silver that gleamed with the starlight.

The first born flung Lucius away in a desperate fit of fear, and fled in terror as the blue waves of sorrow rushed out of his soul.

Ciri flashed to catch Lucius and gently set him down on her lap, as they both watched Alduin flee.

Lucius opened his eyes looking up to Ciri's face.

"Your eyes!" She gasped.

"Woah, i couldn't see this well before...You have some dirt on your face, Ciri." Lucius japed with a silly smile as she shoved him off her lap.

"You truly have the Voice of a dovah. Alduin's allies will think twice after this victory." Paarthurnax interrupted as he gently landed opposite the duo.

"We didn't win. He's still out there." Lucius groaned as he stood.

"Ni liivrah hin mere. True, this is not the final krongah - victory. But not even the heroes of old were able to defeat Alduin in open battle. Alduin always was pahlok - arrogant in his power. Uznahgar paar. He took domination as his birthright. This should shake the loyalty of the dov who serve him." The dragon replied.

"That's all well and good, but we need to find out where Alduin went." Ciri spoke, dusting herself off.

"Yes... one of his allies could tell us. Motmahus... But it will not be easy to... convince one of them to betray him. Perhaps the hofkahsejun - the palace in Whiterun... Dragonsreach. It was originally built to house a captive dovah. A fine place to trap one of Alduin's allies, hmm?" Paarthurnax replied.

"I don't think Balgruuf would agree with a war still waging. But, we can ask. Maybe being a Thane will help." Lucius said as he picked up and sheathed his sword. "Can we ask the greybeards to hold a meeting to establish a truce?" Lucius asked Paarthurnax, thinking ahead.

"Yes... Use their reputation to grant neutral grounds. A wise decision, dovahkiin." The dragon hummed.

"Thank you for your help, Paarthurnax." Lucius bowed, surprising the ancient dragon.

"No need. I chose the side of mortals long ago!" Paarthurnax sung into the sky as he took off.

"Time to go ask the monks for some help then?" Ciri asked Lucius, who hummed in confirmation.

"Let's not tell the blades. Considering their leader is a dragon." Lucius considered.

The pair turned to walk down the mountain and begin the next part of their journey.

Adding detail again...Lmao.

Thoughts on the fight? I think it's pretty good for once.

Have a good one,
