Kapitel 274: Chapter 31. Don't Underestimate My Friend!

[Arc4] - 31. Don't Underestimate My Friend!

---

This world is filled with countless threads of fate.

Impossible things, possible things, things that can be done, things that can't be done—all are connected by threads of fate, as thin as strings.

People who were never supposed to meet have encountered each other, and those who couldn't resolve their inner conflicts can now smile as they gaze upon the vast sky.

The sparks flying are proof of their wills clashing. From the opposing blades comes not only force but also the soul of the other.

However, Cyd feels nothing.

Not by human hands, but simply from the treasury, no matter how many treasures he deflects, he cannot feel the warmth of a soul.

"You are not a warrior..."

Cyd spun and struck at the corrupted servant. Numerous shields emerged from the mist, blocking his axe-sword.

Shields… only because of those who refuse to retreat can they protect everything. Simply being unbreakable does not mean they can protect anyone.

Clang—!

The axe-sword collided with the shields. Without anyone to hold them, the hard shields smashed into the corrupted servant, while countless swords rained down upon Cyd.

Boom—!

The corrupted servant was sent flying like a cannonball, smashing into the ground of the bridge, while Cyd was enveloped in the smoke kicked up by the falling swords.

With a soft sigh, the axe-sword emerged from the smoke with a light slash. The wind pressure surrounding the blade tore apart the smoke. Cyd raised his left hand and patted the shoulder of Illya, who was hugging her head.

"I told you, there's nothing to fear because…"

"Berserker is the strongest," Illya softly said, lowering her hands.

"You've really been brainwashed thoroughly." Ruby twisted awkwardly.

"No, I haven't!"

"It's about time to wrap this up," Cyd's lips curved into a smile, and his usually gentle expression now showed a hint of madness.

"Alright!" Illya nodded firmly.

Boom—!

The ground cracked as Cyd dragged his massive axe-sword, charging towards the corrupted servant, who was struggling to get up.

"It's over!"

Cyd stomped down, shattering the ground, and spun his sword towards the corrupted servant's head. The terrifying wind pressure swept through the alternate space, and the water beneath the bridge surged like a tsunami, driven by the fierce wind.

"En..."

No longer a roar, but a vague call. This time, it wasn't the will-less shields and weapons—a dazzling chain extended from all directions, binding Cyd's body, forcibly halting his axe-sword.

"...ki...du..."

Within these chains was the unshakable will to protect this servant, no matter how much the black mist tainted countless treasures, it couldn't erode the brilliance of the chains.

Clink—!

The chains dragged Cyd back, carving grooves into the ground beneath his feet.

"Binding divinity?" Cyd's expression stiffened as the symbol of wisdom glowed on his left wrist's bracer.

With Heracles' strength, there shouldn't be much in this world capable of restraining that earlier strike, yet it had been stopped. More than that, it even dragged him back.

A chain capable of binding Heracles like this shouldn't exist, but there is one chain that could bind the son of Zeus and god-turned Heracles.

En...ki...du.

It's you, the most ancient king, Gilgamesh.

The Chains of Heaven—the higher the target's divinity, the stronger they become. Their hardness increases in proportion. If the target is Heracles, the son of the king of gods and a god after death, the effect should be overwhelming.

"Slash!" Illya waved her wand, and a magic-powered slash swept out, but it only made the chains tremble slightly.

"Why!" Illya tugged on the chains binding Cyd's neck, unwilling to give up.

"Arghhhhhh—!"

The corrupted Gilgamesh roared and spread his arms. Black mist seeped from his armor, forming a massive ring in the air, from which countless weapons emerged, gleaming coldly.

"Cyd... Berserker... is the strongest!" Illya closed her eyes and shouted, "Stronger than anyone!"

As the ominous black mist rained down countless treasures toward the bound Cyd, who was unable to move, he smiled slightly.

"Of course..." Cyd's lips lifted, and the eyes of the lion on his left shoulder glowed with flames.

With a mighty grip of his left hand, cracks appeared on the chain binding his wrist, and the divine brilliance began to shine brightly.

"Don't underestimate people..."

Cyd swung his left hand downward toward the rain of treasures, and they began to tremble. Under the stunned gaze of the corrupted Gilgamesh, the treasures veered away from Cyd and embedded themselves in the ground.

"Binding divinity? So what!"

Boom—!

Cyd stomped heavily, and the chains binding him were pulled taut.

"This power... is enough to lift the world!"

With each step he took, the bridge shook, and the entire space trembled. Though the chains that could bind even the gods were still wrapped around his body, they couldn't stop his advance. As he pulled, more Chains of Heaven were dragged out.

The corrupted Gilgamesh took a step back, watching in disbelief as Cyd, bound by the Chains of Heaven, continued forward.

"Don't underestimate my friend!"

Cyd stomped in front of the corrupted Gilgamesh, his blood-red eyes coldly staring into his, while the Chains of Heaven glowed brilliantly, yet were now covered in cracks.

"Ahh… ahhhh!"

After a brief moment of stunned silence, the corrupted Gilgamesh let out an enraged roar. A treasure that was neither sword nor blade emerged from the black mist and landed in his hand.

"You wish!"

Just as Cyd was about to crush Gilgamesh's hand, the Chains of Heaven, which had been binding him, suddenly released his left hand, and the unprepared Cyd was thrown backward by the force.

"Still trying to protect him even after being so broken?" Cyd reached out and pulled the airborne Illya into his embrace.

The Chains of Heaven, already full of cracks, shattered completely, all just to throw Cyd away, so that person could wield his sword.

Corrupted servants have little will, let alone fine control over their treasures. Especially someone like Gilgamesh, who never cared for precise control. Thus, the Chains of Heaven acted on their own, even at the cost of their destruction, to protect Gilgamesh.

"How foolish..."

Pushing oneself to the limit just to accomplish the task.

"Arghhhhh!" Gilgamesh roared, swinging the sword in his hand.

But they will succeed, won't they...

A crimson storm swept across the world, and cracks began to appear throughout the alternate space.

"That treasure is no ordinary weapon! Run!" Bazett turned and leapt away with Rin in her arms.

"Set, reinforce!" Luvia, without hesitation, reinforced her body and followed after Bazett.

"Wait, wait!" Rin struggled in frustration, "Illya hasn't left yet!"

"Don't worry! That man will protect her!" Bazett said seriously, "It's a maid's duty to protect her master!"

Lord El-Melloi II's eyes narrowed sharply, but with his physical condition, it was impossible to escape. And as long as he remained, Gray would not leave his side.

"Gray, get away now!"

"No!" Gray took a deep breath and raised her shield in front of her. "Just this once, I can't follow your orders."

The crimson wind pressure, capable of tearing the world apart, came crashing down, and the one trying to stop it was nothing more than a frail girl.

I… what am I…

The Rider class card that had been tightly held in his hand slipped from Lord El-Melloi II's fingers, and he stood up, reaching out towards Gray.

"[Are you going to block the wind that tears the world apart?]"

Gray's eyes widened slightly. She heard it—the voice.

"[Such bravery, young girl, this king admires you!]"

The class card, which had slipped from Lord El-Melloi II's hand, conveniently stuck to Gray's back.

"[Let me borrow your body for a bit.]"

"Wait…"

Before Gray could respond, a large magic circle enveloped her, and countless light particles gathered around her body.

Crack, crack—!

Fragments of the alternate space fell gently around them, and [Gray] smiled. Accompanied by lightning, a massive chariot descended from the sky. [Gray] turned and grabbed the stunned Lord El-Melloi II by the collar, leaping onto the chariot.

A red cloak billowed in the fierce wind as her slender hands firmly gripped the reins.

Lord El-Melloi II's eyes widened. The massive fragments of the alternate space slid past the chariot, and within them, he saw the reflection of the figure he had been chasing all along.

"King?"

"Hm?" [Gray] turned her head and, in a rough voice completely different from usual, said, "You wanna join this king's army?"
