"Shiro, is that a mutated…" Before Hina could finish her words, Shiro's hand was on her mouth.
"Shh." Shiro warned her to be quiet.
Hina whispered to him even after the warning. "Uhmm…. Shiro, your hand is in my…"
Shiro felt a warm liquid on his fingers and swiftly pulled his hand away. He scratched the back of his head and apologized.
"I'm really sorry about that." While he was trying to shut her up by placing his hand on her mouth, his fingers had entered her open mouth.
"It's fine." She whispered and walked back to her seat. Shiro was still staring out the window.
'Kyaaaahh. Shiro's hand was in my mouth. My mouth!!' Hina seemed intoxicated just thinking about it.
Shiro stood there, staring at the beast until it vanished from his sight.
It had pure black fur that seemed to be complimented by the night sky. red eyes and black fangs. its mouth was left open, drooling with saliva or whatever that was.
After about five minutes, another one appeared from his right and walked toward his left till it also vanished.
After another five minutes, another one passed again.
Shiro suspected it was the same one that was circling the building.
He waited ten minutes for the dog to pass again but it never did.
He sighed and moved back from the window, and just as he was about to turn so he could inform Hina, all three of the undead dogs passed from his left back to his right. They were leaving.
Even with Shiro being in level six, a cold sweat slid down his back.
With extra caution, he tiptoed back to Hina's position. "Let's end the dinner here. Just leave the food like that and let's go to sleep." Shiro whispered.
"Okay but uhm…" Hina tried to say something but Shiro interrupted. "Oh, you're not comfortable with me sleeping in the same room with you? I'll take the other room."
"No, that's not it. I wanted to sleep close to you." Hina's face heated up.
"Oh, the… then that's alright. I'm heading to bed then." Shiro seemed to be blushing too.
Today's stress was on a different level. He walked to the bed and fell asleep, facing the edge of the bed.
Soon, Hina joined him, wearing a blue silky nightgown she had found in the apartment.
"Shi… Shiro, how does this look?" She asked.
Too bad, Shiro was fast asleep.
Hina's face held a bit of anger, but when she saw Shiro's sleeping face, she cheered up and went to sleep.
*****
Creak!
The door to the apartment made a weird sound which immediately woke Shiro.
"Hey, Hina, you need to wake up now." He turned to tap her and then, he saw her nightgown.
"What? What is it?" She asked with sleepy eyes.
"There's something in the room. Get dressed immediately." Shiro advised her as he took his blue sword into his hand.
He slowly walked toward the source of the noise.
Clink! Clink!!
Shiro walked into the sitting room and found someone eating the food he had left.
Shiing!
Shiro's sword came out of its red metal scabbard.
The person eating the food stopped at the sound and raised his head.
He spotted Shiro and his sword not so far away and yelped.
"Don't attack! I'm human!" He quickly begged.
Shiro pushed the sword inside its scabbard and sighed.
"Sorry, I think it was an undead." Shiro apologized.
"An undead? What's that… oh, those humans walking around aimlessly." The person replied.
He was a tall, well-built person. He wasn't as tall as Shiro but he was one with height. He had grey hair and eyes and he seemed to be in his early twenties.
"Shiro, who's that?" Hina walked into the room still in her nightgown.
"Oh, that's quite a beauty." The man replied.
"It's another survivor like us." Shiro answered Hina's question.
The new face walked past Shiro and approached Hina. "My name's Atsushi and if you don't mind, I'd like to take you along while I escape. I can definitely protect you better than your boyfriend over there."
Shiro didn't seem bothered. He just shrugged and gestured to Atsushi. "Go ahead. I'll pray for you both."
The newcomer was surprised by Shiro's behavior.
He smiled and turned to Hina. "We'll be leaving now. Let's go." He grabbed her hand. Lewd thoughts already filled his head.
"Let go of me this moment!" Hina's face was drenched in anger.
"It's safer with…"
Bang.
Hina's fist collided with his throat before he could finish his speech.
Atsushi fell to the ground, gasping for air.
Hina picked him up and pulled him toward the door. She pushed him outside.
"You're lucky Shiro was in the room with us. You would be dead. No one's allowed to touch me except Shiro." Hina's face was giving off a vibe Atsushi didn't want to think about.
She slammed the door against him and turned. "Shiro, I took care of him." She smiled and walked back to him.
She held his hand and pulled him. "Let's go back to sleep. I locked the door this time."
"Ahhhh!" A scream came from outside.
Shiro rushed to the window to take a peek and he saw Atsushi or what was left of Atsushi lying on the ground with three dogs feasting on it.
Shiro closed his eyes and walked back to Hina.
"Shiro, what did you see?" Hina asked.
"Nothing, let's get back to sleep." Shiro held her hand and pulled her into the room.
Even if he didn't tell her anything, she knew what had happened.
Atsushi, whom they had just met a few minutes ago, was dead.

If you guys have suggestions about the book, I'd be happy to see them. If it great and ends up being used, the chapter will be dedicated to you.
I'm guessing you all didn't expect Atsushi's death.
Hina probably cursed him before he left.
lol, just kidding.
