Kapitel 558: Legilimency!

Redakteur: Atlas Studios

[Ding, after some serious reading, the proficiency of Legilimency has increased slightly.]

[Telekinesis has been upgraded to Level 1. Current Proficiency (1/200).]

Ivan glanced at the additional charms in the spellbar. It was customary to raise a spell to one level, which meant that he could already perform the initial stages of the spell, though not to a high degree of mastery.

He was able to do so within three days, largely due to his advanced Occlumency level, which had many similarities between the two spells, both involving memory and the mind.

The difference is that one is used on oneself and the other on others!

However, it would not be easy to further improve such special magic. Just reading books would not have much effect, and it would require a lot of practice!

Eager to try it out, Ivan put the book down and turned to see a skinny rat skulking through the library.

Squeak squeak …

The rat was very sensitive and noticed Ivan's stare. Its fur stood on end and it quickly turned to escape.

"Here come the rats!" Ivan slowly drew his wand and tapped it in midair.

The fleeing black rat soon realized that it had suddenly flown up as it ran, and the scene around it quickly retreated.

It let out a high-pitched shriek as its limbs clawed at the air, but to no avail. Moments later, a large face appeared in front of it.

Ivan kept the rat suspended in mid-air, not touching it to avoid getting infected, and slowly rotated the rat's body with his magic to maintain eye contact.

Legilimency!

Ivan's eyes were fixed on the mouse, and he cast a spell, and slowly a jumble of emotions came to him.

Fear, tension, fear, loss…

Although Ivan was able to analyse all of this from the mouse's curled and trembling body, this time was different, as if he could actually feel its emotions.

"Legilimency! "

Ivan spoke the incantation, increasing the intensity of the spell, and the emotions became clearer.

Unfortunately, that was all he could do. He could not look into the rat's eyes and see what it was thinking, nor could he access its memories.

Yvonne wasn't sure if this had something to do with her choice of subjects, or her lack of skill.

To confirm this, Ivan tried to wave his wand and shouted again.

"Legilimency! "

The moment Ivan spoke the incantation again, the black rat's eyes went wide and glazed over, and fragments of memories began to appear in his mind.

No, he even felt as if he were the mouse, emerging from a dark, damp hole, hungry, crawling out to find food…

Ivan suddenly stumbled and crashed into a cabinet behind him. The spell was interrupted, and only a few memories remained.

Yvonne pressed a hand to her forehead. It was strange. According to the books, Legilimency was generally viewed from the perspective of an onlooker, with minimal impact on one's self, rather than one's own.

Was it because he was talented?

According to Ivan, Legilimency had the ability to sense emotions and probe memories, and the combination of the two allowed one to gain information from a subject's point of view in a memory-created scene.

However, this was not a good thing. If one probed memories too often, they could easily affect their emotions. Those with poor willpower might not even be able to tell which memory was theirs.

Ivan sighed. Legilimency would probably be even more difficult to control than he'd thought.

He was also disappointed when he learned that Legilimency required the use of a wand and an incantation to probe the mind and memory of a person of a relatively low level.

This was completely different from what he had expected to see with a single glance…

However, he remembered that the only people who could perform Legilimency at will were Voldemort and Dumbledore.

A novice like him was far from capable of such a feat.

Ivan shook his head. It seemed that he would not be able to rely on it to determine what Rosier and the others were thinking until he mastered Dementor.

He couldn't just wave his wand at them and say the incantation, could he?

That would be stupid!

No wizard would want his or her thoughts to be spied upon and all of his or her secrets revealed, not even when Voldemort used Legilimency on his subordinates.

Ivan's only saving grace was the number of prisoners he had captured during the attack on the wizarding market, some of whom he tortured to death.

In the evening, in the basement of Borgin and Burkes, the two werewolf wizards led Rosier Senior deeper into the shop.

Over the past few days, the basement had been modified to accommodate the needs of the prisoners and had been used as a makeshift prison.

Some important pure-blood wizards, such as Parkinson and Abbott, were kept in the deepest part of the basement.

One of the werewolves led Rossier Sr. to a converted storage room and unlocked it, while the other spoke to him.

"They're locked in here. Go in!"

"Yes! Thank you for your hard work! Thank you for taking care of my friends…"

Rosier smiled and said a few words, then took out a small bag from his pocket and handed it over with his sleeve covering it. He lowered his voice and continued, "I want to talk to my old friends alone. I wonder if you can give me a chance. I'll be done in a while!"

"We must sit in!" The werewolf wizard didn't take it, merely staring at him coldly, unmoved.

They had a good life and were grateful to Ivan, and would not go against orders for money.

If Fran found out they were being paid, they would either be severely punished or thrown out.

The elder Rossier's face twitched. He had not expected such a stiff refusal from the werewolf wizards. Werewolves supposed to be poor and greedy?

"Ahem… you might have misunderstood me. It was Sir Harls who asked me to persuade you to surrender. From now on, we're all on the same side. If you go in, you might affect my work!"

Old Rosier tried his best to comfort him, but he did not dare to say anything too harsh. After all, he had only recently submitted to his master, and he did not have any supporters, so he could not be stubborn.

However, no matter what Rosier Senior said, the two werewolves showed no sign of relenting. They were determined!

"Rozier, you traitor!"

As the elder Rozier was about to continue his persuasion, a high-pitched female voice came from the cupboard.

The sound-proofing was only average, and the old Rozier's voice could be clearly heard talking to the werewolf wizard outside the door.

Rosier shrugged helplessly and gave up trying to persuade the two werewolves. Instead, he opened the door to the storage room and went in to explain.

"Don't ever say that, Fiona. Just know that I'm here to help you!"

As Rosier Senior watched, Fiona and the others were put in shackles that restricted their magic. They did not seem to have been tortured, but they all looked a little tired.

Being a prisoner was not a pleasant experience for pure-bloods like them, who were accustomed to good times…

Fiona Parkinson and Foley looked at Rosier Sr. with hatred in their eyes. If not for Rosier's betrayal, they would not be in this situation.
