Kapitel 33: Welcome to Jola City

Lily and Lain were both surprised by the amount of greenery in Jola City. Even though it was in the middle of a desert, the city was filled with trees, bushes, and other plants. It was a change from the dry, dead landscape that they saw from distance and from what they knew.

Lily: This city is so green! I can't believe it's in the middle of a desert.

Lain: Yeah, it's really pretty. I can see why Eugene would want to stay here.

Hughes: My Lady it was not like this before it is all thanks to his majesty Eugene. The city used to be a lot more barren. There wasn't nearly as much vegetation. It was all thanks to him that the city is as green as it is now.

Lain: I.. I see.

The city was bustling with people and the air was thick with the smell of coal and smoke. The buildings were being built tall and close together, and the streets were crammed with horse-drawn carts and carriages. Lily and Lain rode through the city, taking in the sights and sounds of the busy streets. They saw men and women working, and the smokestacks belching black smoke into the air in the far distance. They saw a totally different view than the poverty and squalor of the slums they imagined. They saw the people of the city going about their lives, working and playing and raising their families.

The closer they got to the palace, the more people they saw. The streets were lined with people, and the air was thick with the sound of shouting and cheering. Lily and Lain rode through the crowd, waving to the people as they went. The people cheered and waved back, and Lain felt a lump form in her throat. She was overwhelmed by the reception they were receiving, she felt sad when she thought about how upset they might have been when they heard that she was dead. They rode up to the palace gates and dismounted. They were met by a group of guards, who escorted them inside. Lily and Lain were led through the palace, and they could feel the eyes of the people on them as they went. They were led to a large room, where they were met with Eugene.

When they finally saw Eugene enter the room he came in holding hands with a blue haired woman, Aria. One can see How nervous Eugene was to introduce her to his mother and childhood friend Lily. He knew what he had to do and that was to let them know about his relationship with Aria. "Mother, Lily, I would like you to meet my girlfriend Aria." Eugene said with a little bit of a stutter. Lain and Lily looked at each other with confusion.

I'm sorry, did you say girlfriend?" Lain asked with a raised eyebrow. Eugene nodded as he squeezed Aria's hand.

"Yes, I have been dating Aria for about a few months now." It's the same story he told Alice. He said as he looked over at Aria. Aria smiled at Lain and Lily.

"It's nice to meet you both." She said with a kind smile.

"Likewise." Lain said as she looked at Aria. She then looked over at Eugene with a raised eyebrow.

"Eugene, why didn't you tell us that you had a girlfriend? We have been exchanging letters so why didn't you mention it?" Lain asked. Eugene sighed as he knew he was going to have to explain everything to them.

"Well, it's a long story." He said as he began to tell them about how he had met Aria here in Jola and how they became close while trying to help people then started dating.( Same "lie" that he told Alice)

As Eugene finished his story, both Lain and Lily were in shock. They had never seen Eugene act this way before, let alone date someone. They both looked at Aria with confusion.

"Aria, do you love my son?" Lain asked. Aria nodded as she looked at Lain.

"Yes, I love darling very much." She said with a gilet of craziness in a smile. Lain then looked at Eugene.

"I'm sorry, Mother. I didn't want to worry you. I know how overprotective you can be." He said. Lain sighed as she knew he was right.

"I guess I can understand that." She said, Lily then chimed in.

"Euge, why didn't you tell me? I thought we were close." She said, Eugene sighed as he knew he had to explain himself.

"Lily, I didn't want you to tell mother of course you can never keep secrets from her" He said. Lily sighed as she knew he was right.

"I guess I can understand that." She said Lain then looked at Aria.

"Aria huh.., I must say that I'm surprised you would date someone like her." She said, Aria then looked at Lain with a look of confusion.

"What do you mean by that?" She asked. Lain then sighed as she knew had to explain herself.

"Aria, I know you're a good person, but I can't help but worry about you. I know you're not used to this world and I don't want you to get hurt." She said Aria then looked at Lain with a look of understanding. Lain was talking about politics and schemes that royalty needed to face. if only she knew that Aria was literally from a world beyond this.

"I see, I understand your concern, but I can assure you that I can take care of myself." She said, Lain then sighed as she knew she can't do anything here.

"I guess you can." She said, Eugene then interjected.

"Mother, Lily, Aria is a good person and I care for her deeply. I promise you that I will take care of her and I will never let anything happen to her." He said. Lain then looked at Eugene with a look of understanding.

"I see, I trust you Eugene. I know you will take care of her." She said, Eugene then nodded his head in agreement.

"I will." He said.

"Oh yeah Welcome to Jola" said Aria.

He learnt a lot about different cultures and different ways of thinking. He also had many adventures, and he met many interesting people. After many months of traveling, he finally arrived in eastern continent. He was tired and dirty, but he was also very excited. He had finally made it to his destination, and he was ready to start learning about all the different philosophies that eastern continent had to offer." Said Landon sitting on his throne looking down on to men who were showered in their own blood from a hellish beating, they looked like they would die any minute.

"What a bizarre story this is, isn't it Anna?" He asked.

"Ye.. yes big brother" she said looking really scared.

"Oh, don't be scared sister. I would never hurt you." He said in a really creepy voice.

"But.. but you just killed those two men." She said,

"They were traitors, and they deserved to die." He said.

"But.." she tried to say something but he cut her off.

"No buts, now let's go and play with our new toy." He said as he dragged her away with him.

`Near the City Centre, Holy Kingdom of T.D`

Tonight the organization is going to attack the holy city with the bomb they obtained from Landon.

A man wearing a hood stood on the plaza and said a few phrases which echoed throughout the desolated night.

"The night is a scary time. It's when the monsters come out to play. It's when the ghosts and ghouls come out to haunt us. It's when the darkness takes over and the light can no longer protect us. It's a time when we're all alone and vulnerable. It's a time when anything can happen.

The night is a time of fear. It's a time when we're all afraid of what might happen. We're afraid of the dark, of the monsters, of the ghosts. We're afraid of the things that go bump in the night. We're afraid of the things that we can't see. We're afraid of the things that we can't explain.

The night is a scary time. But it's also a time of wonder. It's a time when we can see the stars and the moon. It's a time when we can feel the wind and the rain. It's a time when we can hear the animals and the trees. It's a time when we can feel alive.

The night is a scary time, but it's also a time of beauty. It's a time when we can see the world in a different light. It's a time when we can appreciate the darkness and the light. It's a time when we can feel the peace of the night."

As soon as he finished he placed a match stick on the barrel near him, it was filled with black power that's right the 'bomb' was nothing but a barrels full of black gun powder.

When lit up it exploded creating a loud noise in the silent night, burning everything in its near vicinity starting a huge fire in the middle of the city. The fire spread quickly, engulfing everything in its path. People screamed as they were caught in the inferno, their skin blistering and their hair catching fire. The air was thick with smoke and the smell of burning flesh. Panic ensued as people tried to escape the burning city. Many were killed as they were trampled in the stampede. Those who managed to escape were left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The buildings in the city were reduced to ashes, the only thing left standing was the blackened skeleton of the cathedral.
