Kapitel 24: Ch.24 The test
Marinette was frozen. She couldn't move, couldn't think, couldn't breathe. Adrien, ADRIEN was Cat Noir. Marinette could see the irony in this situation.
She had been rejecting Cat Noir because her heart belonged to Adrien, who in fact was Cat Noir and his heart belonged to her. And then it seemed they fell in love with their alter egos.
"Marinette? Marinette are you okay?" Tikki asked.
Marinette was still frozen, deep in thought.
On the bright side of this situation, this meant she didn't have to feel guilty anymore. Her heart wasn't separated between two people, it belonged to one person! But wait...
Plagg knew all along who his miraculous holder was, that means he knew full well he had a crush on Ladybug and that she had a crush on Adrien! He knew all along of the love square that they had managed to create. And if he knew...
"Tikki, did you know?" Marinette asked.
Tikki was quiet.
"Yes, I did, but I couldn't tell you. It's forbidden. The miraculous holders must figure it out on their own," Tikki said.
Marinette sighed.
It seemed so obvious now. She couldn't believe she didn't see this before. She sat right in front of him in class for petes sake! She had photos of him everywhere in her room! He said he had an event to go to tonight, it must be a photoshoot or an event for his father. Poor Adrien.
Marinette laid in her bed and closed her eyes. She was exhausted. She now knew the identity of Cat Noir. The question was, what was she going to do now?
The next morning at school, She was talking to Alya.
"Girl, I've been so busy with Nino, I haven't updated the ladyblog in so long. I need a good scoop!" Alya said.
"I'm sure you'll get your scoop, after all, you are the best reporter I know," Marinette said.
"Thanks, Marinette," Alya said.
At that moment, Ms Bustier walked in and They stopped talking. However, instead of paying attention, she was thinking about Adrien. What should she do now? Should she reveal she is ladybug. It seemed only fair, after all, she knew his identity. But what would he think, knowing she was ladybug? She sighed and tried to concentrate on her work.
Meanwhile, in Marinette's bag, tikki was waiting for plagg. She had secretly taken from cheese from the fridge to lure Plagg into her purse. After all, the way to Plagg's heart was through his stomach, more specifically through cheese. After waiting and waiting, Plagg showed up.
"Plagg, what took you so long? Usually, you'd be here in minutes when there is cheese in Marinette's bag," Tikki asked.
"sorry tikki, but Adrien had given me a whole block of camembert, and I wanted to finish it first," Plagg said.
Like she said, the way to Plagg's heart was through his stomach.
"So, tikki, it's unusual for you to grab me cheese, so what's the occasion?" Plagg asked.
"Marinette figured it out," Tikki said.
Plagg choked on the bit of cheese he just bit into.
"Wait, what?" Plagg asked.
"She figured it out. She knows that Adrien is Cat Noir," Tikki said.
"Seriously? I thought she would never figure it out," Plagg said.
Tikki sighed.
Suddenly, the lunch bell rang.
"Well, it looks like you will be able to get some more cheese," Tikki said.
"The more the merrier," Plagg said.
When Marinette got home, she opened her purse and the two kwamis flew out.
"Congratulations Mari! You figured it out!" Plagg said.
"Uh, thanks?" Marinette said.
"So, what happens now? are you going to tell him?" Plagg asked.
"I don't know yet," Marinette confessed.
Plagg sighed.
"And here I thought the wait was over," Plagg mumbled,
"Did you say something Plagg?" Marinette asked.
"No, I didn't," Plagg said. he wouldn't admit that he had been counting the days until he could hold tikki in his arms again at night.
"Well, I really don't know what to do," Marinette said.
"Well, do what you did now, just trust your instincts and you'll be fine," Plagg advised. Then he suddenly froze. He was really starting to sound like tikki these days.
"Maybe," Marinette said.
"We should get back to school, I don't want to be late," Marinette said, and the two kwamis flew into her bag.
When the last bell rang, Alya and Marinette walked out of school together. Out of the corner of her eye, Marinette saw Adrien talking to Nino.
"Girl, just you wait, I'll have the biggest scoop yet for my blog! It'll be huge!" Alya said.
"I'm sure it will, I'll see you tomorrow Alya!" Marinette said.
"Bye girl!" Alya said.
When Marinette got home, she sat on her bed and sighed. Before she revealed her identity to him, she wanted to be sure. Sure of his feelings, for Marinette, and Ladybug. She was going to test him.
"Well, it's time for patrol Marinette," Tikki said.
"Yeah, Tikki spots on!" Ladybug transformed and went to the Eiffel tower. After a couple of minutes, Cat Noir showed up.
"Good evening M'lady," He said with a bow.
"Good evening kitty," Ladybug said.
"It's a beautiful night isn't it?" She said.
"Indeed it is," he said.
"Shall we begin Patrol?" Ladybug asked.
"We shall," Cat Noir said.
After Patrol, both of them sat down on the Eiffel tower and viewed the city. Ladybug took a deep breath to calm her racing heart. She was about to ask Cat Noir something that could affect their whole relationship.
"Cat Noir?" Ladybug asked.
"Yes, M'lady?" He said.
"This girl, the one who's made you head over heels in love with her, it's Marinette, Isn't it?" Ladybug asked.
Cat Noir froze but then sighed.
"How did you know?" He asked.
"I'm friends with her. She didn't say anything out loud, but I noticed how she was acting differently. One day I went to return something to her and I saw her with you, then it just clicked," Ladybug said.
Cat Noir smiled.
"Yeah, it's her. At first, I denied my feelings for her because I was convinced my heart belonged to you, but then, one day, I realized I did have feelings for her. I kept visiting her as Cat Noir and One day she confessed to me. I was overjoyed. She truly means the world to me. I would do anything for her," Cat Noir said.
Ladybug smiled. It was nice to hear him say that.
"so, what are your feelings for me now?" She asked.
Cat Noir looked at her.
"I'd be lying if I said that a part of my heart doesn't still belong to you, but I'm happy with Marinette, I love her," he said.
"So, if I were to tell you that I had developed feelings for you, what would you say?" Ladybug said, looking him straight in the eye.
"M'lady, I-" Cat Noir said.
"I wanted to hear those words for a long time, but I'm sorry. I'm with Marinette now, I can't accept your confession, I'd be betraying her," Cat Noir said.
Ladybug stared at him, then smiled.
"Congrats Cat Noir," She said.
"Huh?" He asked.
"You passed. You'll receive your reward soon enough. For now, don't visit Marinette tonight, she's sleeping over at Alya's. See you tomorrow kitty," Ladybug said, then left the Eiffel tower, leaving a stunned Cat Noir.
Cat Noir was frozen from shock for a moment before he shook himself out of it and went home. After he detransformed, he laid on his bed, confused.
He passed? Passed what? A test of some sort? And what did she mean reward? What was this reward? He had so many question and not many answers.
"Plagg, do you know what Ladybug was talking about?" Adrien asked.
"I'm just a kwami Adrien, and us kwamis have a right to remain silent," He said.
Adrien groaned. Plagg knew what was going on but as usual, he wasn't being very helpful. Adrien walked up to his window and looked out at the night sky, wondering what Ladybug had planned.
Marinette got home and detransformed with a smile. Tikki flew out of her earrings.
"Marinette, why did you ask him that?" Tikki asked, slightly confused.
"I knew that Cat Noir loved both Marinette and Ladybug, but I wanted to know if he would betray me as Marinette for Ladybug. After all, he did love ladybug before Marinette. I just wanted to be certain before I took the next step."
"And what is the next step?" Tikki asked.
"Tikki, I'm going to reveal my identity to Cat Noir,"
