Kapitel 18: 18. There is something sus about this tower
It was left unsaid that Julieta would stay with Mirabel and just make a single basket of food for the emergencies.
Isabela on the other hand had rushed to take a long shower then locked herself in Luisa's room and wouldn't answer to anyone.
Her dad had stayed seated by her door just in case she needed him and this is how Abuela ended up as the one administrating the basket.
Anytime someone asked about it Abuela would vaguely explain her daughter's absence and to make it know she preferred to explain it herself at tonight town meeting.
No one in the family had to let out the information about Mirabel's gift, which was why they left Camilo to babysit Antonio just in case.
Bruno wanted nothing to do with the Encanto and the feeling was mutual, so he wasn't expected to join them and he didn't.
Still that didn't mean he didn't want to help his youngest niece so he went back to examine Mirabel's tower.
He didn't get a good look this morning with those papaya trees covering the view, but after Isabela got upset those trees had died out.
Yep it does look a prison and he had an irking on why it looked like this.
His room filled with stairs because he dreaded using his vision cave, so if Mirabel thought of herself as a danger then her own room would reflect it.
He did think this was Mirabel's room, but why didn't it come with her gift? Where was her glowing door?
He looked inside the tower and all he saw was an ordinary room, yet he noticed something when his hand brushed on one of the double doors.
Bruno focused on the door and let the palm of his hand run on its surface a few times.
"What are you doing?" Julieta's voice made him jump a few feet in the air.
"n-nothing!" he exclaimed as he turned to face his sister, who had Mirabel tucked close to her side, he raised an eyebrow at that seeing how his niece seemed to want to cling to her Mom but was stopping herself from doing so.
"Bruno?!" his sister concerned tone had caught back his attention
"Si?" he asked since he had zoned out and missed whatever was said to him.
"I asked if you wanted to join us for a snack" Julieta repeated her question
"Oh, okay" Bruno agreed, he might not be happy to be back but he wasn't one to say no to Julieta's snacks.
Bruno silently tailed behind Julieta and Mirabel, taking an interest in observing his niece's body language.
"Corazón, can you handle the kitchen's smell?" Julieta asked concerned her daughter would throw up again
"I don't know" Mirabel answered then added "I thought I could handle the roses till I ate too much"
"Alright, then we will just have our snack outside" she didn't want to risk it.
"Just us and...Tio Bruno?" Mirabel asked still unsure about her Tio, her Mom nodded with a hum
"But what about Papa, Camilo and Isabela?"
"Camilo is grounded, he's not allowed snacks" Mirabel could tell Mom was really mad at Camilo, cause she usually gave him snacks even when he was naughty.
She wondered what he did, since Mom was with her except when she went to make the food.
Maybe he stole too many?
"Oh, is Isabela grounded too? I hear her crying in Luisa's room"
"You can hear her?" Julieta asked and at Mirabel's nod she added "like Dolores?"
"No, just till the start of the street, but I got to really focus" at that she gave a sigh of relief knowing how taxing Dolores's super hearing was on her, and then she realized something
"Mirabel, are you still hearing...your Tia screaming at night?" she carefully asked hoping for a negative answer
"You know about her rat Circus too?" that wasn't what she hoped
"Alright how about you and Tio Bruno go ask your sister and Papa to join us while I prepare our snacks" Julieta quickly changed the subject, then as Mirabel moved away she gave a side eye to her brother, who was barely holding his laughter, this earned him a quick slap behind his head
"Bruno" she scolded him
"I didn't miss that" he pointed out with a pout as he went after Mirabel.
Julieta hurried to the kitchen not wanting to have her youngest out of her sight for longer than needed.
"Hey, Mirabu" Agustín weakly greeted his little girl as she saw her approach him with Bruno tailing her, even if he didn't see him right away due to Mirabel's wings covering his visual.
"Papa, are you and Isabela joining us for a snack outside?" she asked at that her Papa rose to his feet and gently ruffled her hair
"How about you ask your sister, I am sure she will love to hear it from you" Mirabel nodded at his words, but didn't really believe them.
She knew Isabela didn't like her, but she still went to knock on her door.
In truth Mirabel was a bit afraid her older sister was upset at her, because she had to get rid of all the flowers.
"Isa?" she called out and waited as she heard Isabela rush to the door.
It opened wide revealing her sister, who never had a bad hair day looking like an absolute mess.
Her hair was completely frayed and damp, she was wearing an old crumpled dress of Luisa and her eyes were red from crying.
"Where is Mom? You are supposed to stay with her!" she seemed mad
"She told me to ask you and Papa if you were joining us for a snack" Mirabel quietly answered
"You are not supposed to stay alone" Isabela repeated almost hysterical as she checked her sister for any kind of injury old and new.
"Hey I was watching her" Tio Bruno exclaimed, at that Isabela was horrified
"You got rats all over yourself I am not letting you near my baby sister!" she said then saw Mirabel was holding the stand with her tail "you are going to get tired holding that all day, let me" she took an hold of it herself, Mirabel just let her do it silently wondering why Isabela was acting so weird.
