Kapitel 429: It's All Your Fault, Gordon

In the 'game' between the Joker and Batman, the Joker indeed had the upper hand, holding many trump cards. He not only hindered Batman's no-killing rule but also corrupted the honest Harvey Dent.

In addition, the insane Joker integrated the Gotham City underworld, taking advantage of both the city's official corruption and undercover police.

To be honest, Batman had few cards to play in comparison. Even if they captured the Joker, as the madman claimed, he had already destroyed Gotham's longing for justice and light. Killing this lunatic wouldn't make a difference.

Peter Parker exclaimed, "I feel this lunatic's plans are always unpredictable and elusive. I initially thought he just wanted to cause terror and unite the underworld, but his ultimate target was Mr Harvey Dent!"

Commissioner Gordon cursed, "This crazy bastard has only one goal – to bring destruction and chaos to Gotham!"

Bruce Wayne solemnly said, "Exactly, looking at it now, Joker isn't as complicated. His cunning and deceit are all aimed at creating chaos. We need unconventional methods to deal with him!"

In this future video, Batman's significant setback against the Joker was primarily due to intelligence shortcomings. Initially, Batman didn't take the Joker seriously, considering the long-standing underworld forces in Gotham more troublesome. A mentally disturbed lunatic seemed less of a threat.

When Batman realized the danger the Joker posed, it was already too late. If he had prioritized the Joker from the beginning, Bruce Wayne believed the outcome wouldn't have been as catastrophic.

Of course, Batman might not have lost.

In the video, after the Joker's capture, the two ferry boats were safe, but the incident wasn't over. Commissioner Gordon's wife and children were kidnapped by Harvey Dent. In a burned-down warehouse, Gordon found them tied to broken pillars.

In desperation, Gordon rushed forward, only to be ambushed by Harvey Dent, who declared, "Gordon, your people brought Rachel here after taking her from you. She died here."

Gordon, gasping, admitted, "I was here. I wanted to save her."

"But you couldn't!" Harvey Dent coldly retorted.

Gordon shook his head, "I was powerless."

Harvey Dent disagreed, insulting him, "No, you could have done it. If you had listened to me if you had stood up against crime instead of making a deal with the devil."

While Gordon had his responsibilities, Harvey Dent's words were an insult to his character. Despite the corruption in Gotham's police force, Gordon stood firm against crime. To be labeled a coward who made a pact with the devil by Harvey Dent was unbearable.

In response, Gordon roared, "I was indeed dealing with the underworld!"

Yet, Harvey pointed a gun at him, saying, "If you knew what I've lost, you wouldn't pretend to be so just! Have you ever told your loved ones everything's fine when you knew it was all falling apart?"

"If not, Gordon, you'll soon know. Then you can look into my eyes and say, "I'm sorry."

Harvey blamed Commissioner Gordon for much of his suffering, even comforting Rachel when they were both bound in gasoline barrels, assuring her everything would be fine when it wasn't.

When facing a deadly threat to his family, Commissioner Gordon, usually a tough guy against the gangsters, appeared helpless, pleading not to harm his family.

Harvey, cruelly, declared he wouldn't kill his family but would hurt his most loved ones.

At this moment, Harvey's dark, skeletal face, once the symbol of justice and hope for Gotham, emerged. Harvey Dent, who pursued justice and a bright future, had turned into a creature engulfed in darkness.

Seeing him snatch an innocent child from its mother's arms and point a gun at the child's head, the audience outside the video couldn't help but curse.

"This jerk! How could he do this? Even if he killed the police mole earlier, I could accept it. He may have committed crimes, but he was betrayed. Now he's aiming his gun at an innocent child!"

"Harvey Dent has completely fallen. He has become what the Joker expected, or maybe this guy's nature was never so bright."

"Yeah, I think so too. Many praised Harvey Dent a while ago, thinking he was better than Batman, a true hope for Gotham's bright future. But I don't think so. He's nowhere near Batman. Batman, even if using vigilante methods, won't kill, especially not innocent people. Look at Harvey Dent, can he even be called a man? Kidnapping children and women like this!"

Before this, Harvey Dent was well-received and praised by the audience for embodying the justice they expected. His actions, combined with willingly acting as bait for the Joker, resulted in this eerie transformation, losing his beloved girlfriend.

People naturally felt sympathy for him. Some viewers even defended and justified his actions.
