The girl quickly turned around and ran to the exit for no reason. She was thinking if she leaves this place, no one would find out about her and no one would chase her. Her reasoning was obstructed by the fear of death.
She wasn't making a rational decision as she forgot the most important part of her quest.
Creak*
An old dusty door was opened and it sucked her into a room where she couldn't see a single trace of light. The girl was terrified to witness such a horror story happening to her in real-time.
She tried to block herself by using other objects in the temple, but her body went through with incredible speed and she couldn't see what happened to her.
Close*
The door closed itself and the girl found herself lying on a cold floor. She tried to feel around and guide herself to the exit that she hoped to be in existence.
Tick tock*
The sound of a clock echoed in the corridor as her ears picked up where it was coming off from. She got up from the ground while leaning on the wall and touched the wall with her hand.
She moved her hands to navigate where she was heading in case she might have to return to this point. Furthermore, she deliberately left her belongings one by one to create a return route for her.
Swoosh*
However, that didn't last long as her eyes were blinded by the sudden light. She felt a strong tingling pain in her eyes as she closed them with pain. Her brain was buzzing from the sudden brightness and she felt nauseous.
" Who is there? Where am I?"
She shouted, expecting an answer to her question.
Step*
She heard a sound of walking towards her. Her eyes were blinded, so she could only try to move her hands to touch the thing that was moving toward her. Although it was horrifying, she had no fear of death since she would be dead meat sooner or later.
" @^$&$#<;!"
She heard a woman who was talking to her in an unknown language. Her voice was gentle and soothing, but her tone seemed to be not alright since it was almost saying she was apologizing for some reason.
The girl tried to touch her, but she couldn't reach her for no reason. She was like a mirage that couldn't be touched.
" Oh, foolish child! Fate has brought you here to be my inheritor. You will carry my burden and my sins as you would struggle. Fate is cruel and cold to us. Whether you live or die is in your hands."
The goddess said on her tongue while caressing her face with a gentle demeanor. She could feel the rough skin of the girl and her soft lips of hers.
The girl didn't understand what was happening to her as she felt someone was familiarly touching her.
" Mother, is that you?"
She cried out, extending her hands to touch her desperately. Only her mother loved touching her face like this in her memory and it was the exact feeling of her hand. Gentle and yet rough hands held her high.
" Mother, please don't leave me. I don't want you to leave me."
She begged as she tried to find her, but the goddess stood there like a statue. Her body couldn't be touched at all.
" Qattara S'vunre."
She called her name, engraving it in her fading body. She closed their distance as she stood before her, towering over her with her tall body. She gently lowered herself putting her forehead against hers.
" Desert needs a flower. Be a flower with thorns and beg no help from others."
She said, fading into oblivion. Her time was up and her soul was leaving for the land where it should rest.
Qattara felt a warm touch on her forehead. She frantically looked for a person who was touching her. Her hands were flailing around to grab her.
Touch*
She felt the touch of a warm hand. However, the hand was getting cold as it was going away.
" No! Don't leave me!"
She said, knowing the goddess was leaving. The goddess smiled softly and patted her head, assuring she would be alright.
