Kapitel 52: Chapter 4 Trial

Shanu looked around him with a calm look since he had been here before but not as a criminal. He recalled the old leader who was once a friend of his. He always complained about the workload in the Order and how he hated his job because he couldn't meet his grandkids.

These halls filled with darkness and slight light aren't a bad place like it's rumor. The Order often seek out help from outside since some of the criminals had special backgrounds and identities that needed the testimony from third parties.

The big wooden door creaked as it opened itself. There were 4 snakes, 3 eagles, 2 lotuses, and one lion engravings on its body which symbolized the harmony of the continent.

Shanu raised his head, and looked at the judges. There were 3 judges in the main seats with various expressions. Each of them was known throughout the continent. Especially, the death chaser leader was known for his cruel judgment.

" We are here to judge your crimes, monk Shanu."

The elder with pure white hair said lightly, gazing at him. His muddy eyes were filled wisdom of his life. Unlike, two judges next to him. He was far stronger than them. He was also the person who lived longest in this court.

" Elder Brahna, I don't have any words to say. It was my fault that this incident occurred in the first place. I will follow the words of the spirits."

Shanu said, looking at him calmly. Brahna stroked his long beard with a contemplating look. He knew Shanu wasn't fully responsible for this incident, but if he forgive him, the spirits will be furious. Therefore he had no choice, but to pin down the responsibility on somebody. In this case, the culprit was Shanu who killed the dark spirits and berserk spirits.

" Let's not talk nonsense. Who is in favor of sending him to eternal hell?"

The leader spoke behind his mask. His red eyes were looking at him like he was already a criminal.

" Still, we have to consider his merit. He is one of best masters in our continent who can fight against southern invaders."

The man with a scar on his face said calmly. He knew the southern people wouldn't sit idly after hearing the imprisonment of Shanu who guarded the southern spirit forest.

" I agree with him. Even with the life imprisonment, I think we need to treat him differently from other criminals."

Brahna said, knocking gently on the table. The leader placed his chin on his hands. He pondered slightly as he weighed down the pros and cons. Truthfully, there wasn't that much to lose treating him better than those scums.

" Fine, I agree with you. He shall receive additional treatment as well as healthcare since it wasn't fully his fault. Moreover, I think Shanu can keep a tab on them."

The leader said while observing his expression. He was making use of him while extending his hand. Although this statement offended the other 2 judges, Shanu humbly agreed to his proposal.

" Can I also add one condition?"

Shanu spoke, looking at them calmly. This amused the leader since he was no place to negotiate.

" Go on. I will hear what you will say."

He said, motioning the guards to be ready. Shanu smiled softly.

" Can I send a letter per month?"

His words echoed in the court. Brahna didn't hesitate to raise his hand in agreement. So is the scarred man. This wasn't that big deal for them.

" You may."

The leader spoke with indifference. He waved his hand as the guards guided him back to his cell.

" Pity, he was too kind. If he left that village alone, he would have avoided this problem."

The scarred man sighed, looking at his back with a complicated gaze.

" Indeed. But, I think we need to figure out the real culprit behind this?"

Brahna said, stroking his beard. He knew this incident wasn't simple as it looks.

" I have already sent my people to trace the corrupted ones. We might need help from other sects and races."

The leader said, taking off his mask. His cold voice was bone-chilling to the bystanders.

" I second that. There must be a plot behind this to frame him."

Brahna spoke, gazing at the ceilings with a deep look to hide his emotions.
