Kapitel 24: Martin's Morality

"I never thought you would be a consultant for a business that makes less than $5,000 a month."

The big boss, Jessica, sat at the desk and flipped through the contract: "Do you think Max's homemade cupcakes will be the next Starbucks?"

Martin sat opposite and said half-truth: "After all, the global cupcake industry has a market size of nearly 2 trillion, but all practitioners are still stuck in the primitive era of small workshops, who knows..."

"I respect your style of doing things."

Jessica closed the folder and said pointedly, "I remember the paralegal you interviewed with Harvey, know Mike Ross?"

"That assistant to Harvey? Of course, I'm the witness." Martin nodded.

"Can you believe it, today he came to work in the office when he was too big, and he made a fool of himself in the elevator."

Jessica rubbed her temples: "If he didn't take the initiative to say hello to me, I really don't want to admit that he is from our office."

"At least he took the initiative, which shows that he did not forget to show due respect to his superiors while enjoying the fun." Martin couldn't figure out what Jessica meant, so he could only talk freely: "It's a good thing, isn't it."

"Smoke while you're praying and pray while you're smoking? You must have done well in your speculative class."

Jessica grumbled angrily, and then threw a new folder over: "New business merger case, I've been too busy to deal with it lately, I'll leave it to you, do you know the industry rules?"

Martin took it with some doubts: "Seventy percent?"

  Jessica nodded.

This is about the composition of a law firm.

A law firm is not an organization that exists in the form of an ordinary company. It is more like the studio of a celebrity artist. Each lawyer in it is an independent individual who is solely responsible for their own clients. They just use the firm to integrate and exchange resources effectively. .

Just like Martin's clients of mutual aid associations, although the entire firm is serving them, no one has any right to contact them directly across Martin. This is a red line.

However, for various reasons, there are still cases of helping each other out. Just like this time, Martin knew that Jessica was busy with the bankruptcy and reorganization of a large international pharmaceutical company recently, so he would definitely not care about such a small company with only tens of millions of assets. It is normal for mergers and acquisitions to be handed over to yourself.

However, according to the usual practice, after the completion of the matter, Jessica's due income in this case will be distributed to Martin 70%.

Martin didn't care, anyway, there were not too many things at hand, and it was good to practice with multiple mergers and acquisitions, and he immediately said that he would follow up.

Before he got back to his office, Martin saw the big Mike Ross that Jessica was talking about, who was now gulps of ice water in front of Rachel's office cubicle.

"You annoyed Jessica." Martin simply called him into his office and had a boss addiction: "What the hell did you do today? You actually smoke marijuana during work hours?"

"It's all Louis Little!" Mike Rose looked sober: "He asked me to help reach out to clients, the 28-year-old who developed 'Football Heroes', the upstart, and he asked me to join him. Let's say this will bring the relationship closer as soon as possible..."

"Did he let you fly with him?" Martin shook his head. "Harvey and I thought you were a smart enough guy."

"My previous urine test result failed the test!" Mike Rose explained nervously: "He threatened me with a drug test report!"

Mike Ross, who never attended any law school, joined the Harvard-only Pearson Hardman firm after an accident as a paralegal to senior partner Harvey Spector.

Only Harvey, Martin, and their secretaries Donna and Rachel knew about it.

In Suits, Mike and Rachel are still an on-and-off couple, but it seems impossible in this life.

Louie Litt, as Mike said, is one of the only two senior partners in the firm, and has been fighting with Harvey Spector for the only senior partner spot.

Because of his fat head and big ears, and a pair of rabbit teeth, Louis Little has always been at a disadvantage in the competition.

Who made Harvey Spector look better than Brad Pitt?

  This damn face-watching world.

Martin smiled and shook his head: "Mike, your urine test results will be fine, Louis is cheating on you."

"He's cheating on me?" Mike was stunned: "How do you know? You're just a senior lawyer and have no administrative power..."

"I really don't know, but I believe in Harvey!" Martin said decisively: "He took you into the office at the risk of losing your promotion qualifications. If you really listened to him and didn't touch drugs, then the urine test result is absolutely Passed..."

Seeing Mike's incredible face, Martin smiled and shook his head: "Mike, this is just a very simple interrogation method. You didn't expect that because you have a ghost in your own heart, you can't think correctly..."

  "I'm going to find him!"

After all, Mike was only twenty years old, and when he was young, he stood up and was about to go out, but was stopped by Martin.

"What if Louie asks you to take another urine test now? Don't forget that you just had one this afternoon!"

Mike stood there for a while before turning around slowly: "According to the regulations of the US Food and Drug Administration in 1977, the interval between drug testing must exceed three months..."

"That's the power of the law!"

Martin smiled and clapped his hands: "Go, by the way, help me get two ballet tickets for next month's Ibsen Theater. I need to give my beautiful secretary some spiritual benefits."

"I'll ask him to give me two as compensation!"

  Mike left without a word.

Martin gradually restrained his smile, leaning on the office chair and staring out the window for a moment.

He couldn't remember the plot of "Suits" very well, but he only remembered that Mike and Harvey were acting handsomely to deal with various legal issues while fighting with others in the company.

Martin doesn't care about money, as long as it's enough; but he cares about his career as a lawyer, and it's even the only reason for him to work hard to live in this world.

This is an obsession in my previous life, and I also want to climb to the highest floor in the world to see what the scenery is like.

After all, conspiracy theories about Freemasonry and Skull and Bones are so appealing.

This is also the main reason why he has been concentrating on persuading others to start a business and helping them with ideas since he was in college, because these people can make him approach the ultimate secret of the world faster.

I really want to know if there are any autopsy diagrams of aliens in Area 51...

Now that the plot of "Suits" has begun, Martin is a little worried that the infighting of several big bosses in the firm will affect his plans.

Jessica, Harvey, Louie, and the Hardman who hasn't played yet and is at home with his wife for the last time!

Emotionally, Martin really wanted to help Harvey and Jessica secure the right to speak in the firm. After all, Hardman's work was too dirty, and he was nothing but a beautiful granddaughter.

But doing so was not in line with his style of doing things.

After he was reborn, he tried to be as decent as possible and acted frankly, so that no one could judge him from a moral and legal point of view.

Once involved in the internal struggle of the firm, Martin is likely to do some things that are not in line with his inner principles for victory and power.

Although the current mainstream view is that the winner is king, Martin, who has been born again, feels that he still needs to stick to his bottom line, otherwise he will ruin his life because of his inner moral condemnation and ubiquitous social pressure.

It's like Mike Ross, who just left. He was arrested for helping his best friend to take the exam. He can't get into the dream Harvard Law School in his life, even if he is many times better than the current students.

Make mistakes and pay the price!

Martin assured himself from the start that he would not get into such a predicament.

The day before college at sixteen, Sheldon's twin sister even stripped herself naked in front of him, but couldn't bring him into submission.

Martin was very proud of this, and made a special call to Europe at the time to prove and show off how high his moral standards were to Sheldon, who was a visiting scholar there.

But Sheldon's next words made him feel as if he had lost a great night.

"...Given that Missy's brain can't even solve the first-order equation in two variables, I don't think it's unacceptable for you to be my brother-in-law in the actual sense. After all, my parents and grandmother still There are brothers who like you very much, and you can avoid the miserable situation where she can't even be a cashier in a supermarket after graduating from high school..."
