Kapitel 14: Chapter 12: Exploring ROR and Christmas
Over the next few days, I explored the limits of ROR. First was Room of hidden things, which was filled with heaps of different objects. There were magical artifacts, broken furniture, personal belongings some trash. I even spotted Ravenclaw's Diadem but stayed away from it. First thing I did was tried summoning coins and it worked, I got a few pouches along with many loose coins. Overall there were 87 galleons, 213 sickles and more than 300 knuts in total. It was quite a fortune and more than I had hoped for. These will be very useful in my future endeavours.
There was just one thing I was worried about, usually you can't take stuff out of the ROR that it has conjured for you. The objects just vanish and appear back in the room like what happened when I tried to take out the books but the coins didn't disappear when I took them out, which was a relief.
After much thought I came up with the theory that ROR conjures the things you require out of the Room of hidden things and they can only be taken out of the ROR from room of hidden things. That's what happened when Golden trio flew out of room of hidden things with the brooms. It is like a storage room for the ROR.
I collected the coins and hid them deep in the room as I can't exactly take them out now. I will take some of it before summer till then they are safe here. Looks like I'm richer than the Weasleys.
I further looked around the room and saw some of the stuff was hundreds of years old. I always had a doubt, why would Voldemort hide his precious horcrux in a place filled with so much other stuff. According to him, he was the only one that knew about this room, that's why he hid the horcrux here. But after seeing so many things here, he would know that there are other people that know about this room.
I suddenly had a hunch, if ROR conjures up a person's need from room of hidden or this storage room as I would call it, then it should also store the things left behind a person here.
I immediately tried out this theory and it proved to be true. I got out and the ROR vanished behind me. I walked across the wall three times thinking , ' I need a Room only I can enter every'.
The door appeared and I entered an empty room that was quite plain. I placed my quill on the floor and exited. I again thought of the Room where I left my quill and it was still there.
Next I entered the storage room and summoned my quill and it came zipping out of a corner. ' Well, this explains things, Voldemort thought he was leaving his horcrux in an empty room but ROR immediately stored it in ROHT (room of hidden things). This is a huge loophole as Voldemort would still find his horcrux in the room only he can enter but the horcrux itself can also be found in ROHT. Huh_, that's a huge L for Voldemort', I smirked to myself.
That just leaves only one of my doubts remaining- how come there is so much stuff in ROHT, it can't all be things hidden by the people otherwise this room should have become popular long ago if so many people knew about it. My theory is that, this is not just the storage room of ROR but also the whole Hogwarts. ROR slowly collects all lost, broken or abandoned objects in Hogwarts and stores them here.
'I bet the foe glass Harry found ROR was Moody's, it must be stored here after it got cracked.'
(AN: Vanishing cabinet could have been another example but I think Draco moved it in ROHT after he realized its use when Weasley twins shoved Montague in it in fifth year. Or he could have wished for it in ROR and it appeared, since ROR can also summon things from all over Hogwarts.)
Finally it was time to see if ROR has something that can help in my Occlumency. I wished for something that can test my Occlumency and a door appeared.
I opened it and only got a look before I closed it immediately in panic. Inside were two objects I had hoped I wouldn't see- Sorting hat and Ravenclaw's Diadem. Fortunately Sorting Hat seemed to be sleeping, so it shouldn't have seen me. But what surprised me even more was the large ornate mirror made of gold- Mirror of Erised. Right now it should be placed somewhere in an empty classroom by Dumbledore. It sort of escaped my mind that Mirror can also use passive legilimency to know deepest desires of someone.
I was furiously hoping that ROR would return everything to its proper place before Dumbledore gets suspicious about missing hat and Mirror.
But this try was not all failure because I also caught glimpse of an old glass ball that sort of looked like Neville's remembrall just a little larger. It should also be an artifact that can use legilimency.
This time I imagined a room with only that glass ball and it succeeded. I picked up the ball to examine it and see how it works but it didn't give any response. After some time I finally figured out how it worked.
I held the ball with one hand and touched the end of my wand to it. Immediately I felt a little pressure in my mind and I saw my own thoughts reflected inside the glass ball.
'So that's how it works'
I blanked my mind and the ball also became empty again. I then falsified my surface thoughts and it started reflecting those.
'Hmm_, does it just reads the surface thoughts of anyone holding. If that's all there is to it then its no use as I can hide them quite well. Wait, its using my own magic from the wand to use legilimency, what if I increase my magic?'
I concentrated and increased my magic output like when I cast a spell, immediately the pressure on my mind increased and I started getting a mild headache. I further increased my power and the pressure also increased. This time I felt my barrier crack and the glass ball started reflecting my true thoughts.
I immediately put the ball down and removed my wand from it. It again became blank and my headache slowly subsided.
'This thing looks like it's tailor made to test Occlumency, I don't know what else could anyone use it for. It takes magic from user and uses to it for legilimency on the user himself. It really solves all my problems concerning Occlumency'.

Christmas finally came, everyone in my year had gone home for Holidays except myself, so I got the dormitory all to myself. I didn't get any present not that I expected any. I haven't really made that close of a friendship with anyone.
Christmas dinner was the grandest I had ever seen. There weren't many students left but the remaining ones (mainly Weasley twins) were making sure to cause extra ruckus to made up for one that left. Even teachers didn't seem to mind and were drinking and enjoying their Holidays.
As I was watching the high table, suddenly my eyes met with Dumbledore's and I immediately faked my surface thoughts with those of joy of Christmas. Though I didn't feel anything in my mind. I'd to think after practicing with the glass ball for a day I have learned to recognize when someone is in my mind. But Dumbledore just smiled at me and raised his goblet, so I also smiled and raised my own to greet him.
'Now, What does this gesture means? He didn't try to read my mind or did he and I just didn't feel it. Am I being too paranoid? Even if he didn't read my mind why did he greet me separately? Is he suspicious or just interested in me because of my talent?'
A million questions were going through my mind when I realized that Harry and Ron are approaching me.
"Merry Christmas Haven, this is from me, Ron and Hermione for helping us during Halloween and with finding Nicholas Flamel", Harry said gave me a wrapped parcel, while Ron gave me a nonchalant nod.
I was quite surprised as I really didn't expect anything from them or anyone.
"Thank you, Merry Christmas to you too. Sorry, I didn't get you all anything, because you know....", I let my voice trail off indicating that I have no money to buy presents even though I'm richer than Weasleys now
" No No, it's fine", said Harry flustered.
"Yeah, don't worry about it", Ron added.
I opened the wrapper and inside were blue woollen gloves. I immediately put them on.
"Thanks for these I like them, they fit perfectly", I said with genuine gratefulness. They smiled and went back to their table.
After the dinner was over I went to my room as I was getting quite sleepy after the heavy dinner.

Dumbledore's POV
As the Christmas celebration my eyes landed on Callum Haven. He was sitting alone enjoying his dinner. It seems he still hasn't made any friends, I remembered my first meeting with him. He is so similar to young Tom Riddle and yet so different. Both grew up in orphanage, both with incredible talent and a great hunger for magic. Yet on one hand Tom was very popular, always surrounded by his "friends" and always tried to stood out from everyone and shine the brightest, on the other hand Callum has difficulty making friends and always tries to blend in. He is a recluse and a loner. But there's no denying that his talent and potential is in the same league as myself, Gellert and Tom.
I resisted the urge to peer into his mind when our eyes met. I will have remember that he is not Tom and deserves a chance at his own privacy of thoughts. I have no reason to be paranoid about him as long he doesn't warrant it.
I witnessed his exchange with Harry and was glad that Harry made acquaintance with him. He could be a much needed powerful ally to Harry in future.
