Quirk Apprehension Test

"Alright first is the 50-meter dash. Ida and Asui, you're up." said Aizawa-sensei as the two went up to the starting line. Ida Tenya revealed his quirk to be engines on his legs while Asui's was a physical quirk that made her more frog-like. Ida was able to finish it in 3.04 seconds while Asui finished in 5.58 seconds which is to be expected from a quirk like Ida's.

After a few more students went, a guy with a navel laser, a guy with a tail, a girl with pink skin and antennas, and Uraraka, it was finally Tobias' turn. Turns out he was racing Denki.

"Try to keep up Tobias." said Denki as he stretched.

"Don't worry, I'll be at the finish line before you can even finish blinking." said Tobias with a smile as he pulled out a card.

"Ready, start!" said Aizawa-sensei.

Denki hearing the start began to run, while Tobias activated his card. Tobias turned into a pile of cards before he reappeared at the finish line.

"What was that?" asked his classmates.

"Hey, that's not fair." said Denki finishing up.

"It's part of my quirk. Of course it's fair." said Tobias.

"Tobias, .5 seconds. Denki, 7 seconds." said Aizawa-sensei showing them their time.

"Not bad." said Tobias before going back to where the other students were.

"Nice job." said Kyoka.

"Thanks. Unfortunately for you, your quirk won't do much to help you with these tests." commented Tobias.

"I know, talk about the short end of the stick. Still though, thanks to you helping me train over the years, I'll probably do better than some." she said with a small smile before someone came over.

"Hey, do you two know each other?" said the pink-skinned girl.

"We do. We went to the same school together." answered Tobias.

"Wow. Does that mean you're childhood friends? Kya, so cute! I'm Ashido Mina by the way."

"Fukushima Tobias, call me Tobias. This is Jiro Kyoka."

"Nice to meet you both. So are you two dating?" she asked.

"No!" said Kyoka quickly which made Mina get a smile on her face.

"Jiro and Sero, you're next." said Aizawa-sensei.

"Good luck." said Tobias as she made her way to the starting line.

Tobias knew that Kyoka's quirk wasn't all that suited for certain things at first glance, but through training, any quirk could be made more useful. So over the years they had known each other, Tobias had helped Kyoka as much as he could with her quirk training, unfortunately, until recently Kyoka had no real desire to spend her free time training. Still, though, Tobias had pushed her to at least train once or twice a week, and she did.

She had asked Tobias for help with her training since Tobias' creativity might help her train in things she never would've thought of otherwise. The most obvious training she could do was to train her ear jacks physical ability whether that be using them in combat, lifting weights with them, training their hardness, piercing ability, flexibility, precision, speed, and finesse. Tobias suggested using her jacks to hit pressure points and create sound blasts that could be used for attack, defense, and utility.

Seeing Kyoka point her ear jacks behind her as she got ready for the dash, Tobias realized she was going to use one of the quirk usages he suggested. As Aizawa-sensei yelled start, Kyoka released sound blasts while jumping to give her a big boost forward before running the rest of the way, which made her beat Sero. Unfortunately, using concentrated sound blasts was a little tiring for her so she couldn't use them too much consecutively, for now anyway.

The second trial was the grip strength test.

"Tobias." said Aizawa-sensei before Tobias walked up to get a grip strength tester.

'Hm, how should I do this one? I could do it that way, but I could also do it that other way. Both are good but I'll use the that way so I can still have some cards up my sleeve, as it were.' he thought to himself before deciding.

Tobias took out a blank card before creating the one he would use for the test. After the card shone, his hand instantly turned into giant crab claws, coconut crab claws to be precise. The coconut crab has the strongest grip strength proportional to its weight. A 4-pound crab could exert 1700 newtons of force which if proportional to a 160-pound man, would be 6 tons of force.

Tobias chose to give himself the claws instead of buffing himself with the effect because he wanted the data to be skewed. If anyone ever stole his data or if there was ever a traitor, they wouldn't know he could buff himself without giving himself the body parts of animals.

"Nice." said Tobias clacking his claws a few times before testing his grip strength. Unfortunately, he overdid it and caused the tester to break.

"Oops. I don't have to pay for that do I?" said Tobias looking at Aizawa-sensei.

"No. I'll put your grip strength down as inconclusive. Next."

Tobias then dispelled the effect before walking over to Kyoka, who was looking at him with confusion.

"Why did you give yourself crab claws instead of doing it normally?" she whispered to him.

"To keep some secrets close to my chest. Your chest also, I suppose." he said with a wink before she rolled her eyes with a slight smile.

The standing long jump and the sustained sideways jumps were uneventful. Tobias gave himself snow leopard legs for both and he crushed them.

The fifth trial was the most eventful one, the softball pitch.

"Go go go!" said Uraraka with a smile as her ball kept floating up.

"Infinity." said Aizawa-sensei as he showed the class the score.

"Holy cow! She got an infinity!" screamed the class.

"Tobias." said Aizawa-sensei unfazed by Uraraka's infinity.

"I wonder what he's going to do now?" said Mina to Kyoka.

"You never know. He likes to come off as unpredictable and mysterious when in reality he just likes to goof around." said Kyoka with a small smile.

"Are you sure you're not dating?" asked Mina causing Kyoka to blush a little.

Tobias, on the other hand, was thinking about the softball pitch.

'I could just make the ball weightless and do the same thing as Uraraka, but that's kind of boring. I could also give myself a gorilla arm but also boring. Ooh, I know.' he thought before pulling out a blank card that shone a second later, making a weapon of some kind appear.

"God, I love my quirk." he said before putting the ball in the empty space of the rail gun.

That's right Tobias had created a rail gun, but not a scientific one that would cost a lot of stamina. A magic one that costs less to create. Tobias had figured out throughout the years of training his quirk that if he wanted to create machines based on science, it would cost more because it functions based on precise machinery. A magic version of a machine cost less because the principles needed to create it might be as simple as two spells put together.

The hoverboard is a prime example. A scientific version would need anti-gravity engines that only have enough output to lift the skateboard and propel it forward, plus all the internal machinery. A magic version only needs four spells, lift, propel, brake, and mind link for it to function properly, more or less. Of course, it didn't have anywhere near the force of a proper railgun as that would cost more stamina than he could bear, magic or not.

"Did he just make a cannon?" said some classmates baffled at Tobias' quirk.

"Uh, Jiro-chan what is Tobias-kun's quirk exactly?" asked Mina.

"It's better if he explains it to you. He loves stroking his own ego." said Kyoka.

"Okay, here's hoping this thing works." said Tobias as he aimed at a 60° angle for maximum distance before shooting the ball.

WHIRR THUM

The ball went flying before it disappeared from view while everyone began to stare, mouth agape. Tobias on the other hand, had a big smile while looking toward Aizawa-sensei for the score.

"Forget it, the ball went out of range, so we'll count it as infinity." he said before Tobias went back to where the other students were.

"Ooh, that was a little more stamina than I thought it would be." said Tobias as he neared Kyoka.

"You told me you instinctively know how much stamina it's going to cost you. So, that means you were trying to show off." she said with a blank stare.

"Perhaps. Still, it's not really a problem with this." he said before taking out a blue card and activating it.

"Ah, good as new." he said with a smile.

"Sigh, fine. I've known what you're like since we first met, so just be careful okay?" she said.

"There's the sweet and caring Kyoka I know." teased Tobias before being buzzed.

"Midoriya." said Aizawa-sensei before Midoriya started walking up to the mound, looking a little nervous.

"Oh, that's the kid you said you helped, right?" asked Kyoka.

"Yep. My guess is his quirk awoke recently which is why he can't control it. Still though, just from what he's shown, it's got potential." said Tobias while rubbing his chin.

"Maybe more than you." said Kyoka trying to tease Tobias.

"Please, you know what I'm capable of right now. Imagine the future. Besides, brute force isn't everything. The mind has to be as sharp as the sword or else you're just swinging around a metal stick." he said before focusing on Midoriya again.

Midoriya focuses, pulled back his arm, and launched the ball as hard as he could.

"46 meters." said Aizawa-sensei before Midoriya started mumbling to himself.

"I erased your quirk. It defies reason. How did somebody like you manage to enter this academy?" he said while making sure his hair stayed up.

"You erased it? You're the Erasing Hero, "Eraserhead!" said Midoriya while the rest of the class mumbles about how they had never heard of him.

"You can't rein in your quirk's full power. You can't use it efficiently at all. Did you believe someone would come to save you after you crippled yourself again?" he said while wrapping up Midoriya in bandages.

"N-no, I didn't, I jus-"

"There is a certain insufferable hero who made a name for himself for rescuing a thousand innocent from a disaster all by himself. You've his brute courage but all you'll manage to do is need saving. Your power won't help you become a hero, Izuku Midoriya." he said before his hair covered his eyes.

"I gave you your quirk back. Let's get this over with." he said before applying eye drops.

"That was kind of intense." said Kyoka.

"I know, talk about edgy. Aizawa-sensei applying eyedrops to himself means his quirk probably dries them out. Maybe I could help with that." said Tobias before he went into a trance not paying attention to Midoriya anymore.

"Sigh, there he goes again." said Kyoka.

"Does he do that a lot?" asked Mina, staring at Tobias in a trance, mumbling to himself.

"Yes."

Sorry for the longer than usual wait for a chapter, I've had to deal with some stuff these last few days.

Someone also pointed out that it wouldn't be Bakugo that goes first, it would technically be Tobias, and I just realized they were right, but it slipped my mind I guess, so sorry about that.
