Roseline!!! Mrs cherry called her
daughter who was fast asleep. she had
read the whole night non-stop as she is
preparing for her final year exam in
nursing school.
Mrs cherry walked into the room very
angry to see everywhere so scattered
clothes were thrown at every corner of
the room the books on the table were
scattered at every direction the lights
were left switched on through out the
night. she looked at her daughter lying
exactly like a three sixty degree angle
on bed and murmured to herself packing
all the clothes in the laundry basket.
"when will you grow up Roseline?"
"wake up now!" she tapped her slowly.
Roseline yawned so wide that she can
swallow a plate of porridge and sat on
the bed mopping at the reading table.
"good morning mom" she managed to
say.
"what's all this?" mrs cherry asked
"mom I haven't finished my project also,
I'm reading for my test I have a lot of
things she said standing up from the
bed as she walked straight to the
bathroom.
"ooh!" mrs cherry answered sitting on
the couch.
"come over here!" Mrs Roseline said.
"why is your room so deserted?
don't you know you are a lady? is this
what you will be doing once you get
married? " she asked mildly.
" mom!! this is my youth! allow me to
leave it the way I want! beside I'm not
getting married! who did that help? "
she asked gulping down a cup of water.
" Roseline! I know, it's your youth but you
have to do things right my dear!"
" are you imposing something on me
mom? she asked a bit annoyed
"no! mrs cherry mildly answered
" is just that I'm bothered if you continue
like this no man will want to build a
home with you".
" ohh mom!! you have said this
countless times. also, since you were
homely beautiful and industrious didn't
Dad leave you? yes he did he left you
and I alone."
" Roseline!!! stop that! " she yelled.
" I'm done already. like i said I'm not
ready for this marriage stuff.
"I pray you find someone you deeply
love. Mrs cherry said.
"whatever!! Roseline answered walking
out. " I'm off for lectures Mom". she said and walked out eating nothing.
on her way, her friend Amanda called
"hey Roseline! what's up?
" hello Amanda where are you?
" I'm in the bank? want to get some cash
" ohh!! Roseline answered stopping a
cab.
" where are you now?" Amanda asked.
"just left home she said"
" really?
"yeah! I slept late and woke very early
exactly 8:30am. my Mom woke me with
her unending lectures" she said frowning
" ok! hope everything goes well today? I
will meet you later alright take care!".
she said and hanged up.
back at home Mrs cherry wept over her
husband she didn't know what she did
that made him abadone her and the
daughter. Roseline was just four when
the dad left and that was after mrs
cherry helped him get a contract that
must have changed his life by now.
since he left she has raised Roseline
alone and it hasn't been easy doing
single parenting. as this is affecting
Roseline as well.
she left London for sourth Africa where
they now reside. she didn't want
anything reminding her of her past and
Terrible mistake. it felt like marrying
him was the biggest and worst
mistake of her life if she had known,
she wouldn't have loved him.
she wept silently looking at the husband
picture. she had tried burning it many
times but couldn't.
"my dear Roseline I pray you get all the
happiness you want in life my child.
she prayed for her daughter keeping
back the photo in the lock.
