Just as they ran, the mountains and the island trembled. Ace looked back, he saw red hot liquids pop out of the mountains, it was spreading quickly, consuming everything that stood in its path. The once beautiful island that bloomed was now the opposite. The key fell off Earnestine's hands but Janeka picked it.
“Go! I will buy you some time.” Janeka said tightening her grip on the key, glaring at the hot liquid that was finding its way to them.
“Come on.” Earnestine cried but Janeka didn't listen.
“I think she has a plan,” Athena said.
They continued running until they got to the shores, the larva was still consuming everything in its path.
“We move.” The ferryman announced.
“No, wait! My sister is out there.”
“She's gone.” Athena roared holding Earnestine who was struggling as they sailed away from the island which crumbled to the ground. The island got absorbed by the dark waters. Tears rolled down Earnestine's eyes. If only she had the key.
