Kapitel 25: Chapter Twenty-Five: Welcome Ruby Evelyn

Evelyn:

Excitement bubbled in my eyes, my fingers barely able to stay still. Hudson smiled warmly over at me, the idea of holding my fang niece making me want to scream out to the world that I was an auntie of a beautiful baby girl. Taking my trembling hand, he kissed the top of my hand. Stopping in front of a random store, I picked out a couple of adorable dresses. Checking out, he wrapped his strong arms around my waist. Walking out of the store, a crystal store caught my eyes. Running, crystals of every type shimmered. Scanning the room, a single stone of pink quartz stood out to me. Scooping it up, the friendly brunette clerk smiled warmly as I paid her. Surprise widened my eyes, Hudson placing me on his back. Resting my head against his broad back, this felt so nice. People watched with smiles, the older couples discussing the younger days. Flipping me in the air, the women around me swooned as he caught me in his arms. He was such a fucking showoff, my heart fluttering as his lips kissed mine sensually. Melting into his arms, all of the women looked over at their men. Ignoring them, he set me down in my car. Clicking our seat belts the engine roared to life, my fingers wrapping around the shard of pink quartz in my palm. A bright light glowed around the stone, the shard floating in the air. The light died down, the trees flashing by my window. The stone floated back down into my palm, white stripes covering the long crystal. A silver chain hung from it, a silver lily cupping the gem. Tucking it into the bag with the outfits, Hudson spoke up.

"I can't wait to have our baby!" He proclaimed proudly, resting his free hand on my bump. "You two will become my life." Smiling warmly to myself, tears welled up in my eyes. These damn hormones had me crying twenty-four seven, his finger wiping away my tears. Blubbering like an idiot, I must have looked like a freak. Laughing to himself, the brakes screamed as we stopped in front of Theros' town. Leaping out of the car, clouds rumbled above us. Heavy raindrops crashed on top of my head, wondering who was crying more. Popping an umbrella over my head, his lips brushed the top of my head. Resting in his arms for a moment, he played with my hair. Theros cleared his throat, my body smashing into his. Spinning me around, the gift bag was getting wet. Dragging me in, Ruby sat in the middle of the floor.

"She is so cute!" I sang happily, scooping her up. Rocking her in my arms, it felt so nice to hold her in person. Sure being a wolf was okay, but holding the squirming child in my arms felt so amazing. I couldn't wait to hold my own child, Hudson stepping up behind me. Brushing his lips against the nape of my neck, my thighs rubbed together. Running his hand up my thigh, he was claiming his stake in front of Theros. Ruby cooed softly, smiling up at me. Her giggles twinkled like bells, Diamond taking the bag from my hands.

"I apologize for the wet bag." I said calmly, watching her open the bag. Delight brightened her eyes, the two frilly black outfits pleasing her. The necklace fell to the floor, the chain wrapping around her fingers. Examining it in the light, Theros took it from her fingers. Spinning it around in the air, a flurry of white rose petals danced in the air.

"So pretty." He exclaimed tiredly, his appearance looking a little more haggard than usual. "What does it actually do?" Smiling warmly to myself, my fingers wrapped around the stone. Pressing into Ruby's hands, childlike wonder illuminated our eyes as a pink dot glowed on her forehead. Refusing to let go of the stone, her tiny hands playing with the edges.

"It is a linking stone." I informed softly, passing her to Diamond. "It will call me if she ever gets in trouble. It is a protection stone, taking me right to where she is. I am sorry if I am ove-" Theros embraced me warmly, tears of exhaustion pouring from his eyes. Wrinkles covered his white dress shirt, Diamond wearing a giant black sweatshirt. Hudson watched from a distance, Grappy sitting on a branch outside of the window. Waving at me, his wings folded out to their full range. The dark purple suit suited his personality well, his black gloved hands crossing on his lap. Waving back, no one thought anything about it.

"Thank you so much." He sobbed softly into my shoulder, Diamond falling asleep on the couch. "This means so much. We would love to make you her godmother. So if anything happens, you will raise her in our absence." My heart shattered at their words, but their planning was rather necessary. Wrapping my arms around his shoulder, gentle snores told me that he was sleeping. Glancing over at Diamond, her snores echoed in the empty room. Ruby was about to cry, her tiny hands reaching for me. Scooping her into her arms, Theros crashed onto the couch. Hudson and I sat on the floor, setting Ruby on my lap. Her cute hands slapped mine, the necklace shrinking down to a tiny bracelet. Cooing away, her face fell once Hudson glanced nervously his way.

"She hates me!" He cried out in despair, burying his head in his palms. "What if our kid hates me?" Taking his hand, his muscles tensed up. Passing Ruby to him, the way he barely held her was adorable. Sitting on his knees, my hand cupped his. Ruby giggled happily, her chewing on his hands. A couple of hours passed, the two of us taking care of the sweet baby girl. My heart fluttered watching Hudson play with her, the two of them the best of friends. Theros jerked awake, drool dripping from the corner of his lips. Embarrassment burned his cheeks, his fingers wiping away the drool. Picking Ruby up, he spun her around. Placing her on his shoulder, he mouthed the words thank you.

"Would you like me to come by once a week to watch her so you two can get a bit of sleep?" I offered kindly, the relief barely contained on his face. "It really wouldn't be a problem. Maybe I can bring dinner for you as well. All it is a little bit of hunting." Nodding tiredly, that motion was him accepting my offer. Kissing Miss Ruby on the top of her head, her fingers wrapped around my thumb. Hugging Theros, his energy was more alert. It was sweet to see him snuggle with his daughter, Hudson dragging me out. The moment we got outside, Grappy landed in front of us, water dripped off of his wings. The rain stopped, my trembling hands opening the door for him. Folding up his wings, he was going to soak my seats. Crashing into the passenger's seat, worry wore on Grappy's face. Turning back towards him, something was clearly eating at him. Unable to contain himself anymore, everything flooded from his lips.

"I was up in the tree, and I picked up on an event that will happen not too far from here. In fact if you turn here, maybe we can fix it before anything bad happens." He blurted anxiously, his leg shaking. The thing that scared me was that he was frightened, Grappy was far more powerful than me. We didn't have to wait long, dark clouds swirling in the sky. Lightning struck the car, blowing the engine. Fog crept around the car, the gas poisonous to angels. Black armor glinted in the flashes of lightning. Tossing Grappy a spare towel, he pressed it to his mouth. Leaping out of the car, it was just hunters. Humans coming back to finish the job of their failed mission not long ago, a sigh tumbled from my lips. The last thing I wanted to deal with was a bunch of hunters, a silver blade cutting my palm. Damn bastards never leaving me alone, Hudson popping up behind me. Digging around in my boot, panic gripped my mind when my fans weren't there. Shit! I just barely cleaned out my boots.

"Vines grow from the ground, please protect us from our next attack." I chanted nervously, green vines curling up my arms. "We need to stop them from reaching Theros' town." Hudson nodded behind me, his wolf eyes glowing. Searching in the darkness, he pointed to the right of us. Fire swirled around my palm, the fireball shooting in the direction he pointed in. Seconds later a hunter came running from the bushes, orange flames devouring his body.

"Thanks, Alpha." I chirped cheerfully, three hunters charging at us. "Time to play." My blood formed into a large curved blade, red splattering my face as my blade sliced them into pieces. Breathing grew harder, fifty hunters sprinting towards me. Fighting physically would not do, blood pouring from my nose. It was still too soon to be using so much magic, the tip of my blade slamming into the ground. Every muscle screamed in pain as my mouth silently sang the best spell I could manage at the moment, blood spikes bursting from the ground impaling them all. Grappy lay lifelessly in the car, my heart sinking to the bottom of my stomach. Chains rattled, a different sound frightened me. Blood flowed in the direction of the dark energy, an oh shit face dimming my features. Leaping from spike to spike, they woke up the tree of death. The only thing that could stop it was an angel. Dread bubbled in my stomach, Hudson slamming my body behind a tree, pressing his body against mine. A blond hair individual with white armor danced in front of the tree, his palms causing it to pulse. White feather drifted in the air, his beautiful wings unfolding. Blue eyes looked back at me, a scream exploding from our lips.

"On my way!" Grappy chirped cheerfully, his sword raised. "Come now, Gabrielle. Did you really side with them?" The blonde hair angel gazed up at Grappy, his white rose blade raised towards the sky. "I heard you fell in love with a vampire, and a man at that. How unholy! You are a dark angel of course!" The angel poison gas was heading Grappy's way, my whole body collapsing into Hudson's arms.

"Winds of the feathers, guide the gas towards my enemy." I wheezed, coughing up blood. "Sweep away the curse." Blood poured from my eyes, a tornado sweeping all the gas away." Teardrops mixed with blood, my organs beginning to burst. My vision blurred, all feeling going away in my muscles. Unable to move, Hudson scooped me up into my arms. Grappy shot me a thumbs up, the two of them looking like lights in the sky. Grappy crashed to my feet, Gabrielle standing over him. Setting me down gingerly, Hudson scooped up Grappy's blade. Black smoke curled off of his skin, the blade burning the surface of his skin. Wincing in pain, Grappy crawled over to me. Resting his head on my lap, we both groaned brokenly.

"I refuse to let you hurt my friends." He growled through gritted teeth, blocking the attack just in time. "Grappy has stood by us nonstop since we met him and I am going to return the favor." Gabrielle killed the tree with the snap of his finger, rolling his eyes. His attitude pissed me off, his foot kicking the sword out of Hudson's hands.

"I have no interest in fighting you." He retorted sarcastically, glaring down at Grappy. "I want to just fight my brother, not you losers. I do have to thank you for killing the hunters for me. They were coming after me, and Miss Evie I have to thank you for getting rid of the gas for me. Let's be friends. Oh, did I not meet the requirement of trying to kill you for this friendship? You have my apologies. Also I don't want to kill my brother, so take care of him for me. He is the happiest he has been in a long time. Thanks for that." All of our jaws dropped in confusion, white feathers danced in the air as he leapt into the air. Just sitting there, we let a couple of hours pass until I could move again. Struggling to my feet, Grappy still snored away as I shoved him off of my lap. Wandering over to the car, I had to replace the part that got fried. Opening the trunk, the past few weeks had been hectic, new parts for my car coming each day. Shifting through the boxes, I picked out the most likely culprits. Opening the hood, only a couple of parts were broken. Picking out the parts, my fingers wrapped around my tools. Setting them down, my slender fingers tied my hair up into a side bun. Hudson tickled my side, him catching the hood before it crashed down onto my head.

"Since when did you learn how to fix cars?" He queried curiously, a deviant grin dancing on his lips. "I never thought you knew how to do this." Glancing back at him, he jumped up a couple of feet in the air as I tossed out the broken parts. Sighing deeply to myself, the grease was getting all over my nice outfit. Placing the new parts in, his lips kept grazing the back of my neck. My thighs rubbed together, accidentally wiping sweat across my forehead. Clammy sweat drenched my skin, the moon bathing the engine. Closing the hood, he pinned me against the hood.

"Stop it." I groaned lustfully, trying to pry him off of me. "I am covered in grease." Not giving a shit, his lips pressed his against mine hungrily. Refusing to let me go, his tongue danced with mine. Running his hand over my curves, his wolf wanted to take me now. How could he be so turned on by my disheveled appearance? Not caring about my appearance anymore, my wolf told me to let him take me right there and now.
