Kapitel 45: Demons, city lord and magic
Once Blush had returned to the city, she had went back to her home after handing in the head that had been collected by the others before their deaths.
Meanwhile in the new city lord's office, the new city lord looked over the documents and then threw them across the room in a crumpled state. 'All those that joined and only one head had been brought back. This is such a disgrace! What am I supposed to tell them? Two of their own people that had been sent did not return.'
Just as he was getting caught up in his thoughts, the room had darkened a little and a hooded figure pushed open a window silently and entered without him noticing.
The hooded figure silently approached the city lord without being noticed then spoke coldly. "How did it go?"
The city lord went pale with fright due to him being caught off guard. "Uh.. hah.. we only got one head and the others seemed to have escaped. It has been reported that each witch hunt had resulted in a large amount of casualties before the witches escaped or were killed. The two men you sent to lead the group have not returned. Only one person has returned from that group, if you want me to then I can look into who it is."
The cold voice spoke again. "Hmm.. I would have sent more if those witches were that big of a threat, it seems that your information was either very wrong or there was a traitor in the group. Raise the bounty on the heads of those living witches, they must have been wounded so they will have to stop some place to gather materials to help them heal their wounds."
The city lord had slowly calmed himself down and asked. "What about the sole survivor? Perhaps they know something they should not?"
The cold responded before the presence had disappeared once again from the room. "Investigate them and kill them. It should be easy with your current power and influence. Do not bother me with these trivial things, so long as that witch had been killed and the witches have been removed from anywhere close to here then the higher ups should be satisfied. The rest is just to make sure they can never return and if they do… they will have to fight off any groups which hunt them."
The city lord looked around to see that nothing remained in the room then placed his face into his hands. 'I really made a deal with a demon.. and now I am the one doing his bidding. No matter, they will get bored with their games soon then they will no longer interfere with my business anymore.'
Just as Blush had seen within the memories of the two demons, each faction of the demons had their own goals in the mortal realm.
While the demons were pushing forward certain events and had been arranging things so that there would be less people who could interfere with them, the city lord had gained power of his own after the previous city lord had been killed.
He held most of the power within the city but he still had to answer to the demons that visited and carry out what they demanded of him.
He believed that if he was of use to them then he could survive and keep his place but what he did not know was that the demons had already intended for the city to fall.
Nothing in the city interested them so everything would become the property of the lord Dr Gero was working with.
The main threats to their plans were those that had the power to interfere or could detect supernatural events in some way.
Witches and fortunetellers were the closest to those that could become a threat and possibly expose them so that was why they had been targeted.
The demon that received visited had confirmed that the witch who had made a contract with another demon had died so they were satisfied with the results.
There were many demons that were indifferent towards the deaths of their own kind but that did not mean they did not wish to investigate how it happened.
It did catch their interest a little that there was a sole survivor but they did not have enough interest to take over the matter themselves.
The two demons were just common demons who had lived a long time and had failed to raise their power a large amount over that time so they were just seen as disposable pawns in their game.
They felt no sense of loss or wished to seek revenge on anyone connected to the matter since they got what they wanted and they believed the matter did not require further attention.
Meanwhile Blush was sat opposite some witches with her legs crossed. "For now.. I will just say this. We need to put our knowledge and resources together so we can made progress quickly in our goals and better be able to protects ourselves. During this time, we will be locked up in studying and research."
The older witches had a look of dread on their faces while the young witches showed a clueless look on their faces.
What had begun was several days and nights of constant studying and refining of each of the spells, formations and other pieces of research.
Due to the quick learning mental capabilities of Blush, she had gained a much clearer view into various different areas that had given her a clearer perspective on her path as a mage.
There was a piece of paper that was on her desk which defined her current capabilities and what her main strengths were.

Mana manipulation - forming shapes of mana and controlling it
Mana skin/mana shield - protects body from harm and can be used to train mana control while refining it
Inheritance magic - how to pass down power to others, share it with others or form a group through a magical pact or bond
Familiar - pact of bonds with a single or multiple creatures as pets
Sleep magic- can be cast on weaker willed people to put them asleep or those that have let their guard down
Dream magic - has some similarities to mind reading but can slightly influence the dreams of others
Inciting magic - manipulates the words spoken to have various effects whether to affect emotions or to enhance the volume but practice is still needed to apply it properly]

Blush looked over it calmly then had come to a decision on how to best improve herself. 'My mental powers are still the main thing that can be solved quickly and a shorter term solution can be formed. The problem is that it requires a lot of concentration and mana to keep controlling many weapons all at once.
They would lose their effectiveness later once I start encountering faster or tougher opponents so I cannot use ordinary weapons.
The inheritance, contract and familiar magics should prove useful in various ways and could use some further study. Formations are only useful if prepared beforehand and are best used for protecting a base so it is useless until much later. Right now.. the transmutation magic will help me create a path for me before I can start diving into the others.
There is also the genetic path which is closer to creating something similar to a hybrid species or chimera with the use of genes from more than one species. This can only be used to weaken, strengthen or cause disruptions in the body but it is still far from being perfected since I have only succeeded in a complete change and a couple of successful hybrids of the frog and a human.'
