"We have to get going if we don't want to encounter beasts on the way back," Ras said, leading the horses by their reins toward us.
I climbed on the same caramel colored mare, the animal nickering as soon as I was seated on its back as though it was happy to see me again.
For the meantime, Lira and I had agreed that we would be staying in hiding at the Ravens' headquarters. Ras had initially suggested it, and we didn't have any other options. So while we were looking for another town to settle in, we'd have to crash in the mercenaries place for a while. I could already imagine the look on Ashton's face when he'd see us return.
Ras's horse was just right beside mine. Ever since I'd woken up, I'd noticed that he'd been stealing glances at my direction. It was clear that he'd meaning to say something for quite sometime now, and was debating with himself whether he should really see it.
I caught him looking again. This time, I didn't pretend not to notice.
