Kapitel 75: Chapter seventy four

(Maria's POV)

Is she breathing?

She has been in that position for a whole minute and I can't even make out a twitch of her finger. She's so still.

"Baby?" I whisper tentatively, my heart feeling like it's in a constant state of constriction. I might have a heart failure anytime from now.

John looks at me with an expression that tells me to shut my mouth but I ignore him and walk towards my daughter.

"Pumpkin?" I stretch my arm to grab at her but she moves out of reach so abruptly that I and probably everyone in this room flinch.

"Don't touch me," She whispers shakily and takes a deep breath, her eyes still on the chained red wolf that was her boyfriend.

"What is…. When did…. Why... How is this possible?" She croaks as her shoulders slump and she folds in on herself.

"It's what I've been trying to tell you. He's not worthy of you, my dear." John looks sad as he says those words but I can see the smugness and relief in his eyes.
