Kapitel 60: Chapter fifty nine

(Maria's POV)

"I don't understand what you're saying, Mr Rogers. I was told to move out before the end of tomorrow."

I'm very skeptical about this man's behavior, does he have selective amnesia?

We're sitting at a table in the far corner of the diner I work at for my afternoon shift.

He offers me a warm smile and hands me the brown envelope he was holding. "These documents prove that the bank has no right to evict you because the land on which your house is built belongs to an influential family."

I hesitantly collect the envelope from him.

"I suggest you keep those documents safe, in case someone else decides to evict you for selfish reasons," he says and shakes his head a bit.

"What are you talking about? I thought this was about the loan that my parents took." Things aren't adding up here.
