Kapitel 71: Chapter issue with Legitimization
During this time another issue popped up, which was bastards trying to take over heir position by murder or other methods.This was considered a very big issue a council was called and Rhaeyra decided to discuss the whole thing with Eragon and Saruman.
Gandalf was wise, but Saruman was much more understanding in the field of politics and sometimes tutored Rhaenyra.
Rhaenyra groaned and said"This issue is really big. I mean the boy was legitimized and he went far to try to kill his father and brother, to make sure no one found his crime, he was ready to throw away the Lord's Ring."
Gandalf nodded, while Saruman spoke up"Yes, the ones who are fearing this are strong believers of Faith of Seven as they believe Bastards are evil. This fear only grew when they saw Larys Strong try to murder his father and brother for the heir position."
Eragon sighed and said, "That was a stupid idea,I mean the Lord's ring could easily be remade and the Tapestry cannot be destroyed, so such incidents could be prevented from happening."
Gandalf nodded and added, "But, it is best to quell this fear and maybe just add additional law for Bastards, who are legitimatized."
Saruman hummed and said, "There is an issue with legitimizing bastards, especially the royal bloodline."
Rhaenyra was curious and questioned, "Why do you think that, teacher?"
Saruman sighed and explained"The issue of Bastards who get Legitimized have the right to lay claim for the Throne, the only issue they face is the support of other houses.While it is hard to get, it is not impossible.So we have to create a some sort of failsafe, if they try a rebellion happens."
Rhaenyra nodded and replied, "We have to think about so many scenarios in this situation."
Upon discussion a new law of agreements was created, where the bastard would have to sign a certain document that will be entered into official records. Saruman was able to subtly place some rules into it, like if they rebel the person in question will lose his right to claim the throne and if they try to kill the King,chosen prince or his heirs, they're while line or any decendants will never get any chance to be on the throne again.The only thing that could allow a rebellion was if the King or chosen heir was Tyrant.
The claims of legitimized bastards can present dangerous consequences for trueborn relatives,so because of this, no bastards were legitimized until the reign of Aegon IV Targaryen, also known as Aegon the Unworthy.
This whole agreement would play a very big role in the Blackfyre rebellion. Many would praise Rhaenyra because of this, mainly because this agreement made sure Blackfyres did not have any strong backing nor would they have any right to the Iron Throne in the future.
